me and my buddies came in, to shop for our parents to get a simple Christmas gift. Not only did they kick us out because my friend was black but they assume that he was shoplifting. They are racist and think that because he's black he was gonna rob the store. I have cancer. And she kicked me out just because she doesn't like me. she's made up false accusations that I've been kicked out before. When in reality. I went in for a few items and they ended up not having something's so I had to go to big 5 to get the rest. Don't trust a word the the lady with brown hair says about wilderness survival or medical responsibility. She informed me after I asked for a snake bite kit that it wasn't a thing, they weren't made anymore, and that the only treatment for snake bite is hospital. She furthered this bs by telling me she had several wilderness training courses and that I should trust her. I don't know how Y'all do it out here in the Rockies but in the Appalachia's everywhere sells these kits and tells you how to use them. She then proceeds to sell me the money exact kit I was asking for. This person is going to get someone killed with this info. Moral of the story is to do your own research and don't trust the word of a retail employee trying to sound smart and informed. read more

I called The Longmont Colorado store and asked for the guns department only to be told that they don't carry guns. A "Sporting Goods" store that doesn't sell guns? What kinda BS is that? No wonder they're rapidly going broke! They should rename the chain "Hack City"! Too bad I couldn't give them a zero-stars-rating, since that's what they deserve, and one star gives 'em WAY too much credit! That store's one of the best friends gunbrokers.com ever had!! A totally bush-league operation, and that's on a Good Day! No wonder their Yelp reviews have so many one-star-ratings. Surely the few good ones were written by store employees or management. I found two kayaks I liked totaling a 1,300 sale. I went home to get my truck, and by the time I got back they had raised the price 100 dollars on each one, and I went to the general manager to speak to him and two things happened: 1. He backed up from me over 10' like I had leprosy. I had my mask on and with the back noise and my hearing loss, I couldn't hear him. I am thankfully not used to this kind of treatment, even in Boulder County. Yet this man was was rude and condescending. Relenting, he told me he'd give me $50 back if I wanted that. It wasn't even the money as much as the fact I was treated like I was an anathema, and he wouldn't back up his own price. This rudeness was done by the General Manager in the Longmont, CO Store. He didn't care that he lost a sale or a customer. I couldn't have been more ashamed of him, and had he been my employee, I would have fired him on the spot. I will not under any circumstances come back to any Dick's, and believe that this manager needs to be re-organized and at least re-trained. Doesn't rate a one star read more

The manager has such a nasty tone and attitude towards the customers. They blame macroeconomics on the company performing far poorer than expected but its really lack of accountability and negative customer experience. Other companies are doing great. read more

I I understand Dicks position on trying to help with gun control. Although I don't agree with it I understand. What I don't understand is why they eliminated all other items associated with hunting . It feels as though you have discriminated against hunting or a certain class of people. You have lost my business which I will take to plenty of other stores with common sense direction. read more

Went in to purchase some specific items, which we found but my son found a coupon online for one of them and we wanted to ask about their price match options. After some time looking around my son finally found a salesperson. I was listening from a distance and noticed that the salesperson was barely tolerating being pulled away from what he was doing and when my son showed him the coupon his responded as he was walking away was: " no, that's a scam". Pretty dissatisfied with your level of customer service. This is the third time I've been to this location in the last month. I've been trying to but some work boots.The first time the guy in the shie department told me they don't take care them this time of year and no they don't have any others in the back. The last two times, although being greeted upon entrance I was completely ignored while I stood next to the boots I wanted to try on. I hope this place gets closed down. The staff goes out of their way to avoid customers. Numerous employees made eye contact with me and when I hailed them for assistance they would all scatter down aisles. I tried to talk to the manager on the floor and the jerk actually turned his back on me to make a phone call. It wasn't until I started cussing loudly that anyone even attempted to talk to me. Its a great place right up until you have a question. You can tell who works there pretty easy, they look like they are trying to ignore you and not be seen. If you manage to flag someone down, it is pretty obvious they don't really care at all about what they do. At times it is comical,but when you actually need something, its just a PITA. read more

I rate this 1-star only because 0-star wasn't an option. I came in to buy a pair of binoculars on a Saturday at 3:30pm, and the store was relatively quiet. I saw what I wanted, but they were in a display case behind the counter. The sales person behind the counter was working on a gun background check for another customer. I stood in front of the display case for 15 minutes, and was never so much as acknowledged - eg, "I'll be there as soon as I can", or "I'll call someone to come over and help you"....nothing. I thought I may have turned invisible, so I checked a mirror- nope, still visible. I finally gave up and left. read more

I don't know about their other stores, but Dick's Sporting Goods in Longmont, CO is shockingly bad. You practically have to hunt down a sales person if you need help and while they have a seemingly big selection (shoes in my case), they never have anything in stock other than gigantic sizes. It may be a blessing in disguise if you don't find a sales person, they can actually be downright dangerous. My sons (well behaved young adults) were trying out a treadmill and one of their people walked past them and casually turned off the treadmill - bringing it to a stop - while they were on it and then just kept walking. I demanded to speak to that person and waited 10 minutes for him to appear which he never did. Needless to say that I am letting everybody know never to shop there. I usually make most of my purchases online, but shoes need to be tried on. Well, DSG, you cured me off that. It's all online shoe shopping from now on. read more

I was in here last Friday afternoon around 2:00pm to look for a few items I was needing. I walked around the entire store multiple times and there were like 2 or 3 people working inside including the cashier and no one ever offered to help me in any department I went to. The gun counter was unmanned which seemed odd, the ammo looked practically sold out for the most part. This store did not impress me the least bit with anything. I did purchase a few things and it took forever to get through the lone cashier working both returns and purchases. What a sad way to run a business here. Really like this as my go to place for Sporting goods in Longmont. Very large selection of everything imaginable from sports equipment, clothes, hunting, fishing, camping, watersports and much more. The racks are always stocked, sometimes overstocked with everything you need. If I can't find anything, the staff has always been helpful in either going to the back to find it, or locating another store that might have it. Reading some of these previous reviews I can honestly say that they must have never worked with Johnny in the shoe department. What an absolute wealth of knowledge about the various styles, benefits and features on the various types of shoe. I was shopping for new shoes for my 12 year old daughter and obviously style was more important than function. Johnny took the time to find the perfect compromise and was patient even though it took two separate visits before a decision could be made. I will certainly be working with him in the future for my next sport shoe purchase he made the process simple and took the time to explain the benefits and features for the options we were looking at. A great person to have on the team and I would strongly recommend asking for him if you have shoe questions. read more

I usually only hit the golf department and the guys are always helpful and knowledgeable. I had an issue with a putter and they were johnny on the spot. Took it in for repair and instead Callaway replaced it at no cost, they called me as soon as it hit the floor. read more

Was quoted a price on a rifle about a month ago over the phone. Went in this week to get it and was told that they no longer carry it because corporate no longer wants to sell this particular rifle because they would rather be political whores and market to those with no critical thinking skills. I'm guessing there may be new management because the older reviews hammer the customer service. I've shopped here over dozen times in multiple different departments of the store. Each time I've felt the staff are courteous, helpful and have gone out of their way to help. Even on a return I had over 60 days was handled hassle free with option for store credit or cash back. Attempted to shop for running shoes and came away with nothing. Multiple groups of customers were in the shoe area with only 2 salespeople. Spoke to a female associate who answered a question then walked away without excusing herself. We flagged down the other guy & asked him for some shoes to try on. He said he had to take a phone call first (!). He brought a few shoes and walked off. My husband tried them on but they were not right. The male associate came back and told us the other lady would help us b/c she knew more about the shoes. We waited awhile, seeing several other customers trying to flag down the salespeople; heard another guy being told he would be helped after a phone call was answered. Saw the female associate standing around & figured either he didn't tell her to help us or she forgot. We left. Most of this can be traced to under staffing but I feel like if we are trying on shoes costing upwards of $130 we are owed a little attention, right? Also saw a pair of shoes full price at Dicks that were on the clearance rack at DSW. Overpriced on top of bad service. read more

Yikes. Stopped in around 2000 hours to make a simple purchase - a new pair of trainers - and was followed around the store and stared down by obvious loss prevention personnel the entire time. I greeted and made eye contact with all staff in the store, too. Very peculiar. On checking out, the cashier made a point of reopening the shoe box a second time to remove everything and check that I wasn't smuggling any extra product out in the box - after he had already done this a first time. Just to make a point, apparently, before slamming the box down on the counter. I was considering purchasing some gym clothes, as well, but the loss prevention personnel staff lurking around and watching me the entire time convinced me to just get along on my way. Like, I get it - I'm a USMC veteran who's worked civilian-sector security and loss prevention, as well - but when you're so blatantly tailing customers (when I'm sure there's a perfectly good camera surveillance system to do so without making folks uneasy) and glaring at them to the point that you're making them uncomfortable about choosing your storefront to patronize, then you won't be keeping them as a customer. I'll definitely be taking by business elsewhere for sporting goods and fitness gear in the future after this terrible treatment. read more

called a day ahead of time to see if they had a specific canoe in stock. the lady had a lot of trouble understanding what i was talking about and kept saying we have a lot of canoes. and that they don't have anything to tie it down with. after about 5 min on the phone repeating my self that it is a OLD TOWN ROUGE RIVER 154 SS square back canoe and that the name is listed on the front of the canoe she said yes that she see it now and has it. stupid me I guess. I drove 45 minutes to that location because it was the only location that said it was in stock just to find out once there that the canoe is not in stock and wasn't for about a month now and dicks doesn't sell it anymore. which i found out by it not being listed online anymore. lucky for me I called my local Jaxs outdoor and was but on a brief hold as there representative looked to see if they had one in stock and without me asking checked all there locations for the store nearest me to find one in stock and beat the price of dicks by $350.00 anyways.
