The best service ever. My Dr said I needed some arches for shoes and go to Big 5. So reluctantly I went with a friend. They were so patient and kind so got insertable arches as my ankle is hurting. Then tried on new balance shoes in a wide and put in the arches, got longer shoe laces. Vincent should get the medal of honor. My friend also needed insertable arches and laces. We shop here a few times per year. There are discount coupons available via signing up with an email. You can show them the coupon from your phone. Pretty easy. The layout of the store is pretty organized. A little bit of a lot of different types of things. It's a convenience rather than ordering and having to wait for something online. The staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful. There was a sign on the door that masks are required. There is a plexiglass shield at the register as well as a table that keeps customers and register personnel at a distance from each other. There was also a display of masks and santizer at the check stand. We were able to find what we wanted at a reasonable price and completed our transaction rather quickly as there was no one in line when we went to check out. read more

I was needing a swim shirt for a trip this weekend and I have been going to lots of stores to find my size and brand but I had no luck. I went to check out after finally finding my size and the discount that I read when I was looking at the shirt turned out to be for a different brand and was let down. The employees immediately went to go check to see if they had my size with the correct discount but ended up honoring the discount for the other brand. I mean cmon! That's amazing. Went in to this store yesterday to get some ammo, went up to the counter so an associate can assist. There was an employee and a manager playing Pokémon cards on the counter with a customer. I stood there for a good 5-10mins waiting for someone to assist me, and they just continued to play their Pokémon on the knife counter. Took my business elsewhere. read more

This is a small store and therefore offers limits on variety and simply doesn't carry some key items (i.e. Pilates Socks) What I do really like is the excellent customer service and product knowledge of the staff members. They also always seem to be running sales on kicks when I pop in and the blonde manager has great knowledge of her inventory. Since I run on different terrains and have "gym only" "trail only" etc kicks, she suggested a pair of Saucony street runners she uses and I LOVE them. Very personable and genuine. Mentioned to her that they were not on Yelp and she didn't know how to get on (this was back in October) I've been meaning to add them ever since. There are definitely larger stores, but I've been ignored in some of them. When I need specific items I know they don't carry, I go elsewhere. But, for throwaway gloves cheap for Tough Mudder = perfect. Also, when I'm looking to replace kicks, I pop in to see if they have sales. Often when the latest version comes out, you can get a great buy. Thank you Big 5 for being a friendly spot in the hood to pick up gear. Horrible experience, went to purchase a firearm. 1st day I went the SKUs on the firearms were mixed up thus preventing a purchase that day.(I was understanding because shit happens, so no biggie) I return the 2nd day, and the 1st assistant manager is just a complete nimrod, he couldn't print the receipt of purchase, so waited another10-15 min to receive that. The manager handling the sale, was completely unprofessional, he wrote down my contact phone number wrong, even thou I repeated it to him twice, and the numbskull didn't have the professionalism of repeating it back. So I never received the call to come pick up my purchase, so I stop in to grab it. While picking up the purchase the 2nd assistant manager(heavier set lady/ lazy eye with a shrek like face and build) was completely rude and condescending. HORRIBLE service. Avoid those 2 managers at all costs. read more

Long story short, being highly traumatized over the quarantine weigh gain (....used to be athletic and now I'm unrecognizable) and disgusted with the Amazon's ridiculous COVID price gauging, I decided to make a local retailer run. Researched online extensively for some items I needed and the best price. Big 5 made the top list. I usually go to another Big 5, however, this one had the items in stock. Not a fan of retail shopping during the pandemic; and that is the first thing I evaluate when I end up going to a store. This store has a process, which I like. The store is well organized and easy to "spot and grab" what you need and go. The staff is helpful and pleasant. I received assistance carrying the heavy items to my vehicle. The reason I took the time to write this review is the manager. He was leading (as leaders should) and developing his staff with some recommendations in a very friendly and non-invasive approach. He was also observing and monitoring the processes. This pandemic has exposed some mediocre leadership for some businesses which is the reason some businesses are collapsing with the impact of the disruption. Conclusion: I got what I needed, at a decent price. I felt safe during this business impacting vulnerable COVID situation, and I will go back to finalize some purchases for some things I need. If you are considering visiting this store. Do so. You won't regret it. read more

Came in here just to window shop a bit while my car was being worked on. Inquired about a gun magazine I had been looking for for a while and the manager Shae was so extremely helpful and nice. She called other stores and search all over to find not just one but 2 and it wasn't even going to be a sale for her store (I live on the north side) and she was fine with getting them sent to my store. I would like to thank Miss Sabrina the manager on duty for allowing me to take the Bolle sunglasses I bought this recent June 21st at this store without a receipt in exchange for a gift card of the amount I spent on the sunglasses. Miss Sabrina was so kind and thoughtful as well as abundantly professional in allowing me to return them without the receipt, a receipt that I used to have but got insurmountably smudged being in my pocket during a really perspiring walk. I am really sorry I didn't keep the receipt in a safe spot, like in a drawer or God forbid in the bag itself from the June 21st purchase. So I went in there the first hour of opening and was going to buy some toys/balls for my son so I can take my him to the park. I forgot my mask and asked the cashier Sherry if she had a mask like most other businesses or if I could buy one and she said no they don't have any at all and said unfortunately I needed a mask to shop there but couldn't provide one for me. We always shop at this location because it's close to our house. We have 4 boys and they're all in sports, so Big 5 is our go to place. We were there today to buy a pair of football gloves for my son. We go to check out and I have a coupon and I ask if I can use it. She looks at it and with a snotty attitude says she will honor it this time but next time she won't accept it. So I tell her never mine I don't want to use the coupon. She looks at my husband and he tells her the same thing. On the receipt it said her name is Andrea. She needs to brush up on her people skills or just have her work in the back with merchandise. read more

I usually stop in here for whatever my needs are at the time but I gotta say Josephine has to be the most useless employee you people have. Not only did I sit on hold for 10 minutes damn near to wait for someone else to check on a product being in stock ( which before I saw how insanely lazy or ignorant she is on person I know it wasnt because she was busy) but I had to wait for her to feel like stopping what she was doing when i got there to pick up what I had on hold. I kid you not I walked into the store she was going through the cabinet near the register and sees me hovering and waiting asks what I need help with I reply " i have something on hold for me?" She points to another counter and never stops what she is doing to grab it so we have to go get it.. we wait q few more minutes for her to get up and she doesn't... we walk OVER to the other side wait another minute or 2... this woman just sat in this damn glass case doing whatever she apparently felt like. Customer service clearly not being this cashiers main priority she only got up when what appeared to be a manager walked over. AND EVEN THEN this woman rolls her eyes at either the manager behind his back or me and my bf to our faces as she says have a good day. There isn't a whole lot to say about this store. The customer service is average. The store is small so there's not a whole lot in stock. They have a decent variety of shoes and athletic wear. They always have great prices on the shoes. They're Under Armour and Nike stuff is just as expensive as anywhere else but sometimes, usually on big holidays, they have some good deals. I haven't had to deal with the guns section so I don't have much to say there but then again no one in Nevada goes to B5 to buy guns. Like I said earlier the stores kind of small and so the merchandise is kind of clump together so you have to look really hard for what you're looking for or you might miss it. The location is easy to get to, right off of 95 on Lake Mead. If you're a soccer family and you need something quickly on game day it's located right across the street from the large Soccer Complex and they tend to stock well during soccer season. I can say that almost every time I come in here to look for something I end up finding it somewhere like Sports Authority or even Walmart believe it or not. But from time to time you can grab specialty stuff you wouldn't think they'd have so don't sleep on them, at least call and see if they have it. Their baseball gear is actually decently priced especially the bats. I keep coming here often because like I said from time to time I will find things I can't find anywhere else.
