Big Al's bait and tackle is it overall good store. There is dogs, which are super nice. They have awesome bait and awesome tips on where to fish and how to fish. I would 100% recommend getting your bait here. read more

Bait is always fresh and lively. That's the best thing I can say about this store. Employees all seem to have rotten attitudes and one female, I won't all her a lady, has the worst trash mouth I believe I have ever heard. Second time coming here. The first time was last week and they didn't have any shrimp, but the "delivery was on the way." Came back today with the same excuse. Frozen mullet is expensive and the guy that works here really doesn't care for the job. I would consider this a last resort bait shop. Go pick up at Daytona instead. read more

Not so great customer service. The last two time I've been they're trying to close early with a bad attitude. This time i go and the doors locked 15mins before the hour posted. People plan their day around fishing and get off work late so expect customers at a later hour. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! Was only in the store for maybe 5 minutes to buy a lure, one of the workers sitting had his fly open and balls hanging out, and the other guy was smoking a cigarette inside the store. Mind you, there were kids in the store right before I walked in. I don't know who hired those guys, but I would fire them in a heartbeat. When I called to explain that the guys coworker had his balls out I didn't even get so much as an apology, just a nonchalant "oh okay" as if he didn't care. If I owned that store I would be absolutely embarrassed by these guys. And who smokes cigarettes inside anymore? As if the guy is too lazy to walk outside for 5 minutes, but instead feels like every customer should be subjected to his disgusting habit. Never again. What a joke. read more

I came to this bait shop to get live shrimp I arrived at 5:50pm and was waiting for a friend to meet up w me so we can go half on them and all go fishing well he gets there at 6:15 and the lady with the grey mustang closed so we knocked on the door and she key started her car then came out at 6:20, I said u guys close at 7 correct and she turns around and yells well I close when the .... I want to, got in her car and literally skirts her tires in the parking lot I wish I got the whole thing on video if you guys are going to close at not even 6:30 u should most definitely correct the timing I drove all the way across town for nothing read more

Went in to buy shrimp. I asked if I should use a split shot on my line to fish from the bridge. The owner replied with an attitude saying "I'm counting money." Then I asked the other employee at the counter what kind of fish they were catching at the bridge today, and he told me "I'm counting shrimp." In summary, two questions asked and no replies. They were rude and nasty. When I walked, rather than being greeted, I was yelled at for where I put my shrimp bucket. Find another place to buy your tackle. The people that work at bings landing are great. Much friendlier and very helpful. Will never return to this shop. read more

Went in today looking for a new reel because I broke mine. Al and Joe couldn't have been helpful in choosing one and even taught me how to set the line and everything. Wish I could leave negative stars. This is by far the rudest group of people we've ever encountered. The minute you walk in the shop they start yelling at you what do you want? They yell when you set your bucket the wrong place on the floor, it's just childish & pathetic. Coming into spend money in the store and then you get cussed & screamed at. We want bait early in the morning. Since Al left the store is always still closed in the early hours.

Great experience! My 12 year old son wanted to purchase a casting net, but had no idea what the best weight/size would be for him. The staff was very helpful in helping him. Brought my 17 year old son in yesterday to get his fishing license and to buy bait and tackle. The guy was an obnoxious JERK to us and no help at all. Told him "sorry if you're having a bad day but we didn't come in for your attitude!" I had to walk out while he was processing the license to cool down because I was about to go over the counter...and I never have conflicts with other people and am a passive person. SO sad what has happened to this once great little business. A few years back it was the friendliest place in town. An older gentleman named Joe was always there for advise and help. And always with a friendly demeanor. Fast forward to today. Joeys long gone and instead are three young kids who are each ruder and nastier than the next. The worst is the female who doesn't know a thing about fishing, bait, or tackle and only smokes in the doorway while she talks to the other employees and drops F-bombs in every sentence. Never mind the customers and children. Come to find out, she is Al's daughter who no doubt couldn't keep a job elsewhere. Rude behavior prevails here. Once heard an older man yell at a customer for talking while he was counting bait to putting in his bucket. It is a shame as this used to be a great little business that sold their own t shirts people would want to buy and proudly display their name. The shirts are still there, but nobody is buying. Hands down the worst bait shop I've ever been in. I've encountered several very rude employees in the past and have put up with it until recently. Today's visit will be my last due to ending in a shouting match with the portly old man behind the counter. I'm used to bait shop's having friendly and helpful store owners. Unfortunately, Big AL ' s has neither of these qualities. Fish Ormond if you can. Old Ormond pier has kayak bait and tackle, there is high bridge and the granada bridge which all carry live shrimp and also have great people that work there. read more

I live in Flagler Beach and have endured going here ONLY because he has live shrimp. The absolute worst service you can imagine. Makes me embarrassed to be American to go here. No matter what question you have, you will get a rude response like you are bothering him. Really straight out of a Saturday Night Live sketch, except nothing is funny about it. Big Al's has a problem calling itself a bait shop. I have been there on three different occasions when they have had no bait. I called this morning before driving over to pick up bait. To see if they had live shrimp. From the minute he picked up the phone I could tell the clerk had an attitude. This is not the first time I have encountered an attitude form the morning clerk there. The guy is a jerk. Unfortunately Big Al's is the only game in town. And they act like they know it. Big Al's forgot the reason they are in business ..... customers, and customer service. I will only use them when I have to and will continue to look for an alternate. read more
