I guess we are sticking with the NYC theme all the way to the health code violations! While at Big Apple, I was greeted by the nice newer cashier, but then followed up by the red headed barista taking a used spoon out of the sink and wiped it off on a used cloth, and mixed my drink with it! Not once, but twice! And the spoon, while making contact with the bottom of the sink for the SECOND time, was not even attempted to be cleaned. SMH all that nonsense for the coffee to taste like shorts. read more

recommend placing an order for pick up if standing in a line to place an order bothers you. I've always felt like the staff gets through the line to order fairly fast, especially given the # of customers they're serving. Love their northern sandwich. read more

Super skimpy on the cream cheese the last few years. I've been a regular customer since I was 5 years old and it used to be my favorite because there was so much cream cheese on the bagels. Now if I ask for extra cream cheese to get back to that amount I still get barely any extra if I do get any at all even though I pay for extra. They have fantastic bagels. They have muffins. They have passable coffee and coffee drinks. They have friendly staff (most of them are). But do not even think about calling your order in over the phone because the likelihood of not getting the busy signal is akin to winning a lottery. At the very least it will take you upwards of 35-40 minutes of continuous redialing. There is also no way to order online. Not for the East Lansing location anyway. The wait for a bagel on the weekend is approximately 20 minutes. The line is approximately 10 to 15 minutes depending on time of the day. read more

Bagels are as close to NYC as you can get here and service is friendly and accommodating. Lots of free parking. I call and order ahead but downside is that they take phone off hook when they're busy instead of a recorded message and often forget to put it back on! They close too early at 1:00 pm. We LOVE Big Apple Bagels!!!! Even when the line is pretty long they are SO fast! I al surprised they are able to work so effortlessly and efficiently! Moist, chewy bagels. Tried the Mediterranean on an everything bagel and the Southern on an Asiago bagel. Both were tasty and filling. Working down the street means that I come here on a semi regular basis. So far I've been pleased with each experience. The staff is helpful and kind and my meals have been great. They have a vast variety of bagels as well as sandwiches, smoothies, soups and coffee. My wait has never been too long, making it a feasible lunch stop. My favorite has quickly become the Mediterranean Veggie sandwich. So good! read more

Ok, so I lived in NYC, and so I love my bagels. I don't usually eat them, except for when I first move somewhere because nothing is good enough. I like to give stuff a try though. A great quick breakfast find for the morning work commute. They host a huge selection of different bagel blends and cream cheese flavors at very favorable prices. With a complete lack of Einstein's in the area, this is the only local bagelry that has yet to satisfy my lust. My go-to tends to be the Swiss Melt bagel, which is always heated perfectly! The wait is fast and the staff is usually cheery and very good at quick chats with waiting customers. Big Apple also serves fun and decadent muffin options. I tend to stay away from sweet things in the morning, but they have mini bite-size versions of the regular size muffins for super inexpensive that are perfect for a mid-afternoon craving. read more

After getting food poisoning on a prior visit, I reservedly returned today. My original intention to purchase a bagel and cream cheese quickly ended once I noticed not one but two employees not shut the cream cheese cooler doors. Even more infuriating was when one clearly saw one side open, opened the other side and left both that way PLUS there is a color-coded thermometer in the case. Decent food/ drink selection. However I find that everything is a bit overpriced. The quality isn't really spectacular, but the staff is nice and fairly quick. It's a good quick stop for when I'm dying for something of substance to eat on my way home or to work. But if I had to choose between here and Bruegger's on Grand River, I'd choose the latter . I don't usually leave reviews but in this case I must because I can't let others go through what I have been going through. The last 3 times I have visited this place something was either missing or wrong on my order. I ordered nothing hard just a sausage egg and cheese. I received someone else's order.... The second time I ordered a sausage egg and cheese as well as ordered a muffin. The muffin did not make it to the bag.... The third time I ordered from here I ordered a sausage egg and cheese and add bacon and ham not too hard you would think. They couldn't mess it up a third time in a row surely! Well they did. I only got ham and bacon on my bagel and on top of that they forgot my muffin again! This is the last time I am coming here because it is students that do not value the customer and it seems there is always someone new in training every time I go in there which could attribute to the decline in the quality of the product. All in all this place needs major work because they do not know how to get orders right at all. This place does have good flavor of the food but that doesn't matter unless you can get what you ordered CORRECTLY! Off my soup box now and I hope this review helps some people. read more
