Finally tried it and it was okay. Ordered #2 with jalapeno pepper for myself, then family members got one order of 6" #4 and one order of 16" of #4 with red sauces on the side. Order was made quick. As for the taste, it was alright... the meat was not seasoned... could have used more cheese to give it more flavor or sprinkle some salt/pepper when cooking the meat on the griddle. order was done on Friday 7/28/23 through Doordash, the doordash guy did me a huge favor by warning me he wasn't sure he got the correct order, who ever sent this "thing" should be locked up and never allowed near food again!!! It wasn't a steak cheese and mushroom I ordered, it wasn't anything I could even say if it was food, it had tomatos hanging out of it and stuck to the ends outside, the rest I wasn't even sure what it was, it looked like old napkins and some green stuff. This was without a doubt the worst thing I have ever seen to be called food. So my first meal in Michigan was right here during lunch,It wasn't to busy at all. So you place your order at the counter and then watch as they make your hot cheesesteak sandwich. I ordered the 8in Philly cheesesteak with mushrooms, onions, and cheese. The bread was pretty decent as was the sandwich it was definitely hot off the grill. My other friends had the same except she ordered the 4 in sandwich with chips. To feed the 3 of us it was 21 bucks pretty chip if you ask me. I highly recommend stopping here and trying there sandwich's. It's in a shopping center so there is plenty of parking. Nice friendly service and the restaurant was spotless. Nice job read more

If I got the same sandwich I had on my first visit - every time - I'd give this place 5 stars. If it was almost always the same quality and size, I'd give them 4 stars... They lured me in. Threw sliced ribeye with some onions on the grill, toasted a nice bun, and served it up with melty provolone and tangy Big George sauce. It was so fresh, so tasty... it really hit the spot. And it was pretty big, a good value for about $6. And the guys were helpful and friendly, welcoming me back. Then I actually went back. And I got the "scrap-ems" that others have written about. I understand you keep some beef hot and juicy so it's ready, but I want that fresh sammie I had the first time. Multiple visits later and it's still very unpredictable about what you'll get. At times, the sandwiches have been VERY small. My entire bag was under 8oz.! Until I get a steak-n-cheese hankering again, I'm in no hurry to go back. I also wish they had bell peppers or something more. Banana peppers are good, but seems like an afterthought, eh? Lots of parking. Could be open later (am I the only one hungry at night?). read more

Yeah, its a chain. So what? When you want a hot steak sub with onions and peppers this is the place to go. The food is FAST. The people are always friendly, and of course the best thing about Big John's is the SAUCE. To call it an "Arby Sauce" is not accurate, it is much more vinegar based and sweet, but you get the idea. We drown our subs in it, which is good, because they let you take a whole squeeze bottle of it to the table with you. We have not tried a lot of their other items, when we come here it is because we are craving just one thing. There are some days this is all you want to eat, wish there were more of them. read more

Ever since I made the conscious decision to not die from high cholesterol, I haven't made it to Big John's very often. Oh, but those special times that I do get there..... I actually love what Big John's has to offer. A simple linup of what they do best, big ass cheesesteaks. Lots of meat with onions & other options like mushrooms, etc. You have to try their special sauce, just get a cup of it a douse your sub. So good. Maybe someday I will go on a Big John's bender and end up in a blood sugar coma, but I will try to hold off on that for a while. Great food for a "once in a while" type option. read more

we think this place is f-ing delicious and we dont even give a care if you judge us : ) its basically a steak and cheese sub...its no authentic philly but it is tasty. bread is definitely above average and you can get onions, mushrooms, peppers, all kinds of crap in there -- great sauce comes on the side too. and two subs for $5 -- unreal! also had the chili at the lansing chili festival once and dug it but have never ordered it there. not a classy place -- better to grab a sandwich and go -- but a great place to swing by on the way home. read more

Big Johns is a good place to go for a good steak and cheese. One of the greater sandwiches here is their steak wrap though. They are fantastic and if you get it in a meal, it's only around $5. This is an excellent place so if you are in the mood a steak and cheese sub go here. Again, I highly recommend the wrap. read more

So I so can't speak of ambiance or service since I was not there, but I got a chicken wrap (chicken, onion , lettuce, banana peppers, red sauce on side) and it was delicious and a very good sized portion. It has been a long time since having a Big Johns steak and cheese. Still a great sandwich.

Its good but if you go at night be aware they sometimes cook the meat far ahead of when you order it. but even then its pretty good.

Staff is awesome and can't beat the steak and cheese subs, and the wraps are awesome too, highly recommend

Good, but not great.Basicly this place is a Michigan knock off of a Cheese Steak.. Flint locations are better then the Lansing locations. The problem with the Lansing locations is typical to all restaurants in that town. They are staffed by colledge students and out of work Engineers, who just dont care about giving good service.. Would eat at the Flint location if I were in town. In Lansing though, I don't know if its worth the trip... read more
