I found Big Apple Renovators here on Yelp in October 2023, and I'm so relieved I did. Jon was flexible and scheduled a site visit of my parents' roof (Brooklyn, NY) within a week of my initial call. He provided me with a detailed estimate within 48 hours of the visit. I must have spoken to 8-9 contractors before finally finding Big Apple Renovators, and most of them were not flexible and/or never got back to me regarding a site visit or estimate. My parents' roof needed to be completely redone due to leaking on the top floor ceiling every time it rained heavily. Jon clearly explained what he and his crew would be doing to redo the roof and our options for materials to be used. He also was patient by answering all of my elderly parents' questions prior to and during the roof repairs. He was transparent throughout the entire process and the best part was that he provided photos and videos of the repairs being completed while I was at work. The roof repair was completed in 3 days in November 2023, which was not easy because the house is very old and there were over 7 layers of roofing material that needed to be removed. All debris were removed safely and quickly. My parents and I are beyond happy with the work that was done to the roof. We are also very grateful to have worked with Jon to complete this important repair. I'd like to also mention that the cost was very reasonable and competitive with other contractor estimates. I contacted 5 borough remodeling in regards to my gutters which needed replacement. with in a hour jonathan gave me a call and scheduled a appointment. I was very impressed with his professionalism and understanding they started by looking at the existing gutters and explained to me in every detail what my options were I had water flowing over my gutters on to my siding and causing problems. Jonathan was patient and showed me samples of gutters and extra protection which he had to offer. There drip edge feature is a must have when installing new gutters or roofing,this prevents any water from getting in between gutter and soffit area really a great feature and peace of mind, it eliminates your plywood or soffit board from the elements nyc has to offer I would like to mention there gutter hanging design is the best i have seen very strong and causes no damage to your roofing They are licensed and certified roofers. they stand behind there work. in regards to installation. Lets frame this story, so we had just bought our house which was as they a "fixer upper". Under the impression we would have to replace the roof eventually, maybe in a few years we completely neglected it from the budget. Spent said budget on repairs, furniture, appliance etc.. Then our insurance company says you need to fix your roof in two weeks or we are dropping your coverage, followed by subsequent mortgage bank displeasure.... We shopped around a few people, we went with the local go to guy, established big name and we tried these guys who seemed relatively new but were backed as manufacturer certified installers. They came in on the middle as far as price point, but the low price point was going to just lay a new flat roof and more shingles. I'm really glad we ended up not cheaping out and going with these guys because during the roof removal we learned that we had not 3, but 5 flat roofs already. Johnathan was easy to deal with, answered all my question (trust me there were many), they were able to get the job completed in the desired timeframe, they left the job site in an acceptable condition, and we are very happy with the work they did. They removed the old roof, replaced a gutter and replaced a skylight for us. Overall I'd say they're trustworthy guys that won't try to upsell you, do a great job and we will probably use again for other projects. read more

We had 6 estimates and after meeting Jon who was very professional and informative, we decided to go with this company. Five Borough installed new downspouts and gutters as well as a new roof. The project manager Paul and the installation crew were very prompt and had all materials ready to do the job. They quickly and safely removed the shingles and replaced all the rotted wood. I really liked the way that they protected the entire house with tarps and cleaned up as they went along. After that was complete then began installing the new roof (they completed the entire roof in one day!) The day after, the gutter crew came in the morning and carefully took down the old gutters and installed the new seamless ones with protection. I like that this company had specialists. The roof guys did the roof and the gutters guys did the gutters. Both crews were professional and courteous and did a thorough and complete cleanup. Highly recommended! I decided to do my roof over for my home. They blew me away with their presentation. They were very responsive by text as well as email and phone calls answering every possible question that I had. Trust was built and I spent about $15,000 on the job. It was a major investment and they did a decent job with it. Not breath taking but adequate. However a small issue developed after a few months and I thought it would be handled being I spent so much money and I had a warranty. Well no more responses via text ,email or calls. Promises of someone coming to take care of the issue never materialized. It was disappointing and shocking business would be run like this. Once the money is in their pocket you can forget it. The Warranty is just a smoke screen. If you hire this company better hope they get everything right the first time because once they have your money they are no longer concerned with you. During the roof inspection, Paul the consultant walked me through the damages my roof had and explained the plan on how they would repair my roof showing me exactly what materials they would use. My roof was falling apart and I had several roof companies inspect my roof and they could never find the source of the leak finally my brother in law told me about 5 Boro Remodeling who just replaced all his gutters. Five Boro Remodelinf to fix my roof, but I ended up getting a new driveway as well. My roof was leaking for years. My roof was repaired by two contractors last year, but nobody could solve the problem. Then I called Hasan to take a look and he suggested that I redo the roof and he explained that putting a layer on top of the old roof is not going to solve the problem and it makes the roof very heavy, which is not good for the property during the winter especially during snowstorms.
