While the roofers that came to do the work were somewhat in hurry and didn't completely protect some existing items, no harm no foul, and quick work with only minor ding-ups that were fixed within the next week. My sister who lives in Long Island City, Queens needed her roof replaced. She asked for my assistance to help her find a reliable roofing contractor. I started my search in Yelp and found 3 roofing contractors who specialize on flat roof replacement and who have done work in the Long Island City area. My sister didn't have any knowledge of what a roof replacement entailed. Jon Nortman the Project Manager came to the house ready with a video of her roof taken with a drone, explained the roof replacement process in layman's terms that she was able to understand along with the sample of material to be used and of videos of roof replacement to understand the roof replacement process visually. The project was completed on time and at a reasonable cost and we are very happy with their work. We had a rainstorm shortly after the roof was completed and noticed a small water leak from the bathroom ceiling. We texted Jon to inform him of the water leak at 8 PM. He immediately called and informed he will be there early in the morning to investigate the water leak. Sunday night we had a big storm that knocked out a good chunk of our siding, Monday we contacted Big Apple and same day Jon was able to come out to inspect the damage. He helped us bring down the siding that was hanging dangerously, and took a drone up to inspect the roof. What started out as a minor roof repair for a water leak developed into one of my better home investment decisions. As a first-time homebuyer experiencing an ongoing leak, I weighed my options for a roof repair with several roofing contractors. What stood out about Jon and his team was their positive reviews and responsiveness. An estimator came to my home in less than 12 hours for a free quote and more importantly, provided insight to where the water was coming from and options to remedy the problem. However, they created a leak in one of our existing skylights and they would not repair it. Less than a year after the job, a wind storm destroyed a portion of the new trim.
