Decided to use a car service to get from JFK to Manhattan. Both my daughter and I suffer from awful motion sickness, even with a healthy dose of preventative medicine on board. I was hoping using a car service would ease the likelihood of a more "erratic" drive into the city. I am so glad I did. Making, and changing, the reservation was so simple. And the price was very competitive. After much research I realized that the cost was very similar to a taxi or an uber and actually in some cases better. I especially appreciated the set price with no hidden fees or surprise costs. And paying via Venmo is very easy. The text communications are very clear and response time is impressively quick. As we landed at JFK and were taxing to the gate, I received a text confirming the car, the driver, the license plate & pickup location. When we saw it was a Tesla picking us up, we both panicked. We both get SO sick in Teslas (we have one at home so we are quite familiar). I replied to the text asking if it was possible for a last second car change and literally within minutes it was done. I needed a post-surgery medical transport ride from Mt Sinai in UES Manhattan to South Brooklyn & ended up booking an SUV with Big Apple Ride. I was happy I did. Communication was a breeze. Deepak the dispatcher was also super accommodating when my discharge time/date kept getting pushed and pushed. He always made sure to follow up and even gave me a call to confirm after my 3rd time change of the day. Their 24/7 availability was also very helpful when my situation changed late at night. For the first time I used the Yelp quote feature and obtained quotes from 5 different car services for a personal trip from JFK airport. For work trips my job organizes car services but since this was a personal trip I wanted to get the best service for my money. Big Apple Ride wasn't the cheapest but they had a good price and more importantly, presented a good Covid cleaning protocol. Overall the experience was good. The driver had the suburban ready and waiting for arrival with the flight and arrival info. They had names on the window and blinkers on to identify the vehicle. The car was nice and clean and the driver had a mask on for the ride. He did take off the mask during the unloading portion which I addressed. Since the experience was good overall I still have 4 stars for the entire experience although there was the slight mask hiccup at the end. At the end of the trip I submitted a Venmo payment to the owner as we planned during the booking. Will consider this service for future personal trips. read more

I would recommend big apple ride for the following reasons: Communicative, on time, clean car, friendly, and not overly expensive.

From my perspective (as one the riders in the car) , this particular driver was very short on the customer service skills. To start, a gracious "good morning ladies" as a greeting will suffice. Next, I don't mind you not talking especially at 4 am.. However, when a question is asked, please do not sound like I am just annoying you to the very end. A simple tone adjustment was definitely needed. Driving like a bat out of hell just to get to the airport was totally unnecessary especially when we scheduled early just so we didn't have to rush. If he had another job lined up then he should have used his time management skills and not have accepted our pickup. What broke the camel's back with me was thee end wherein our luggage was put down right behind the car and before we could gather our luggage and turn around to get to the curb, the car was speeding away. This immediately made me regret our decision to tip him especially as he didn't even say thanks let alone say anything at all. I have never experienced poor customer service at its finest until that morning regardless of the time of the day that it was. So initially, I was playing phone tag to catch a quote from them about a return trip to LGA for my family. I receive one of the lowest prices, people were nice and thought I was good. Day of pick up. Scheduled at 4 AM pickup. This is where it gets crazy -- the driver text me that he's waiting 30 minutes early but I was sleep. My family is outside 10 min before -- they finally connect and he starts barking at my family that he's been waiting for 30 minutes then he proceeds to drive, 75 miles an hour to LaGuardia with my 80-year-old mother in the car. When they arrive he kinda slings their bags to curb. I didn't find this out until today until I asked about their ride to the airport. I called Big Apple to do a conference call so my family who was actually in the car can give their point of view and not be hearsay from me. The dispatch said he would speak with the driver and not him to our house again. I appreciate but who says I'm going to use them again??
