I have heard about this place for several years and decided to try it today. I got a chipped pork plate with turnip greens and sweet potato fries. I chose the hot sauce. I'm not going to say it was the best BBQ I have had, but it was good and it hit the spot. The pork was plentiful and tasty. The turnip greens tasted like they came out of a can, but were still good. The sweet potato fries were also good, as was the service. The place looks like it was once a Western Sizzling or similar place. It is nicely decorated and is a casual, kid friendly restaurant. It has been a decade or so since I had been here. We were on our way back from Auburn and decided we wanted some que. We stopped by Big Bs. It was crowded. We're brought our drinks but it took awhile to get our food. Almost an hour. There were crowded and had an event in the back room. Bbq came and was outstanding. Great pit cooked shoulders with a nice sauce. We're not going to knock on the service because they were so busy. Food is great. Putting their slaw on my BBQ was delicious. We wanted some BBQ and saw the packed parking lot and thought it was a good sign to join the crowd. We ordered pulled pork sandwich with baked beans and fries. Stopped here for lunch on Sunday. There is a down-to-earth atmosphere filled with vintage memorabilia. Stuff like coin operated weight machine, standup coke freezers, old-time vending machines, and classic road signs. The place is an Americana history museum. For lunch I ordered the Country Fried Steak with sides of greens and Brunswick stew. The country fried steak was huge and was topped with a brown gravy. I thought it was pretty good. I've been eating at this restaurant since I was a little girl. The food is amazing, I suggest you get the mild wings plate.

Server was doing all she could considering the amount of time from ordering til we received food was 45 minutes, then once received it was partly cold. ( mashed potatoes) ( BBQ) . It's a shame to have BBQ in Alabama that is this bad! I ordered a combo that included pork and chicken along with beans and onion rings. The chicken was tough and dry as bone. The pork was also dry, but honestly had very little taste. I could not taste the smoke at all. It was about 4pm and there was only about 4 other customers in the restaurant. As I was sitting at my table waiting for my food, I heard loud and angry cussing coming from the kitchen that seemed to be loud in the restaurant. Traveling through, said they had smoked turkey and so we stopped. Ordered smoked turkey platter and hubby order some ribs. Service was okay. Server was friendly. Husband loved his ribs, I also tried his ribs and yes very good. That is why it got a two star from me. My smoked turkey was not smoked and it was diced? It was not fresh turkey either. The atmosphere at Big B is pretty cool; and I was quite surprised that they had great Wifii! Since I travel so much, that is very important. They seemed to be a little understaffed; but the people that waited on me were very polite and extremely helpful. The prices here were very, very reasonable. I ordered the bbq plate lunch special with fried green tomatoes and brunswick stew; and it came out under $8. Anywhere else it would have been well over $10; and it filled me completely up. Now about the sauces, I am from the ole' school bbq Alabama sauce club, mustard, spicy and tangy. Well, you won't find any of that here. We love Big B at our house! We have a house on Lake Martin, and stop by Big B and grab a few pounds of the pulled white meat chicken on the way in to the house almost every time to enjoy for the weekend. It's delicious and very reasonably priced! My mom and I aren't huge meat eaters, but we both love this. We eat it by itself or as a sandwich! We've also tried many of their sides that were just as yummy! We've shared it with many of our friends who now love it too. Great for a family or a big gathering! Definitely recommend. read more

The absolute worst service I have ever received in any restaurant. Order a rib and meat plate. They forgot the ribs. Instead of bringing me ribs, they took my plate that I already ate oof off because I had too much meat for the combo plate. 20 minutes later, still no food. Complete disregard for customer service.
