Good food. Good service. Great breakfast option. Pancakes were large. Wait was short.

I knew BBB would be busy mid morning, so I got on the waitlist online hoping to save time when I showed up. Unsurprisingly, there was a bit of a wait, and I had to kill time for about 40 minutes before my table would be ready. No big deal, I took my time getting to the restaurant and arrived a few minutes before my table was to be ready. When I showed up, the hostess told me that it would be another 15 minutes before my table was ready. Again, not the end of the word. I worked food service for about decade. I know how it is. After 30 minutes, I finally got a table. Then the battle for my server's attention started. I was at my table a solid 10 minutes before she even asked if we would be interested in something to eat or drink. By this point I was a well over an hour into trying to get food, and I was way more than ready to experience something more like a restaurant and less like waiting to board a plane. Once I ordered, I immediately got excited to dive into some amazing southern brunch. I thought surely things would pick up, and I was salivating with anticipation and ready to be wowed by unimaginable culinary delights. Well, after an additional 45 minutes of waiting I was treated to an entree resembling the flavor profile of dishwater. If it hadn't been two hours into the ordeal, the slop my table was served would've been comical, but for the first time in my nearly 40 years on this planet, I was legitimately angry at an establishment for being so undeservedly successful while being simultaneously so inept, incompetent, and repulsive. Despite having not eaten for almost 24 hours, I could hardly eat three bites of my meal. I have never been so relieved to get out of a business for the last time. If this is the best Oxford had to offer, I feel sorry for y'all. read more

This was one of the best breakfasts I've ever had, period. My wife said it was easily in the running for best meals she's ever had in a restaurant. We'd had plenty to eat in our quick trip through Oxford and most of it really good but this meal we grabbed right before leaving town on a Sunday morning was the best. I had the BLT omelette. In my experience most diners fail to nail the right texture and consistency of egg in an omelette-- not Big Bad Breakfast. It melts in your mouth, perfectly soft and creamy. The smoked ham and bacon, spinach and mayo, seasoning and spices were all just bonus--the tomato gravy on top the touch that sent it over the top. The hash brown cakes--usually a dish that's a frozen pucket of meh tasted like fresh, in house formed and the crowning touch was the biscuit, seriously one of the best biscuits I've ever had (and far better than the biscuits I've had in a few restaurants that name themselves after biscuits and fail to impress). My wife raved about her BBB Breakfast sandwich, particularly the biscuit. So much on the menu to choose from--from excellent sounding brunch cocktails to milkshakes, chicken and waffles, poached eggs and breakfast crumbles...if I lived in Oxford I'd be here at least every other week (more often if not for the hurt it'd do to my waistline). The coffee's hot, the service friendly, and they had us seated and served quickly. The prices are very fair too. The atmosphere isn't pretentious, it definitely succeeds at the casual everytown diner goal it aims for. So yeah--come get a stellar breakfast for a fair price in a cool spot operated by a James Beard award winner. You won't be disappointed if you like good food. read more

I enjoy eating at BBB. Their biscuits are great and I really like the breakfast burrito as well. The only downside is that the wait can be extremely long on a busy weekend-which is not necessarily BBB's fault. staff has been friend whenever I've visited and the restaurant is clean too. read more

I was very disappointed in the name. The food was okay but it's hard to mess up bacon eggs and toast. The facility is not very big so I assumed you could get a big bad breakfast there. There's nothing big and bad about it. After a hard night on the town In Oxford we went there thinking we could get a really good big breakfast. We got 2 eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast with coffee. 2 people 30$ and a 5$ tip. Based on the name we thought there would be a menu item that was 3 eggs, bacon, country ham and sausage. Hash browns, grits, biscuits or toast with a side of sawmill gravy and an order of pancakes. They can keep what they have but they have to put a big breakfast on the menu. read more

The service was unbelievable. That deserves 5 stars. Our drinks never got empty. Bree was attentive to us as we sat on the patio. We bought some t-shirts. We visited Oxford for my daughter to visit Ole Miss for junior day and we were told we had to go to Big Bad Breakfast! We came at around 8:20 and there was already a 40 minute wait! When it was our turn we were immediately greeted with drinks and I had the vanilla iced coffee which was awesome. I had the big bad breakfast, my other daughter had biscuits and gravy with a brûlée grapefruit, and my dad had the breakfast sandwich with pancakes. It was all so great! Big Bad Breakfast dishes up some decent breakfast food that might be some of the best in Oxford, but on any sort of national scale I'm having a hard time saying this spot is anything better than just okay. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? So I'll give credit where credit is due here - Big Bad Breakfast seated an unannounced party of 18 in close proximity to one another within thirty minutes on a Monday morning. From there, the service was excellent, and we were all well tended to throughout the stay. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? I've been on a Spicy Fried Chicken Sandwich kick for the better part of the last year and a half, so when I saw all of the confidence and complimentary language used around Big Bad Breakfast's 'Screamin' Demon' sandwich I couldn't not order it. I paid $10.50, which was reasonable given it included a side of fries. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? This was, at the end of the day, an acceptable Fried Chicken Sandwich, but not much more than that. You had all the components in the mix, but the spiciness wasn't there, the cut of chicken and breading was just okay, and the peripherals were average (lettuce, bun, etc.). Good, but not great. Single Star. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? I wouldn't, although Big Bad Breakfast is cute and deserves your business if you're in town. No Star. read more

Everything I hoped for and more. Got the Redneck Benny with a side of cheese grits. They offer sausage gravy or hollandaise, and the waitress was kind enough to give me a small cup of both. Pretty solid benny, and the cheese grits were absolutely delicious. I also tried some of the "Cathead" Chicken Biscuit, and a plain biscuit with a side of tomato gravy. Both were also really good. I've never had tomato gravy before, and I almost want to say it tastes like really thick vodka pasta sauce. Which is great because I love vodka sauce. But what do I know. The wait was supposed to be around an hour long, but we didn't have to wait it out because everyone else kept throwing in their towels and leaving. The inside space is not that large, which is slightly inconvenient since they seem to be a very popular breakfast/brunch option for the Oxford crowd. read more

Their BBB sign is not easy to see in the strip mall in which they are located. We passed it once and came back to find it. Sure happy we did.
