The pictures are exactly what you get. It's a cute 1 bedroom cabin with an upstairs loft. The good thing about this place is it's not as old as some other cabins. Not overly decorated or cluttered...it's simplistic/minimal. During the day, we stayed upstairs with our 9 month old son. It's carpeted so it was easy for him to crawl around and play while we watched movies from Redbox. The kitchen had all the basic amenities and it was easy to use all the appliances. We brought food with us in a small cooler so we were able to cook our meals without having to go out to town. During the night, we stayed in the tempurpedic queen-size bed. There were extra portable heaters in the closet which came in handy during the cold, snowy nights. The fireplace kept the place nice and toasty (just make sure you get a fire-starter and some fire wood). The location of this cabin is great; we drove to The Village and Boulder Bay Park. There's also Vons and Stater Bros for groceries and a Starbucks nearby. The slopes are close by but we weren't able to go boarding at this time because of our baby. Overall, we enjoyed our short stay. But there is one thing I wanted to point out...As part of the property rental agreement, just remember to take out your trash with you when you leave. I found that sort of weird because our car was fully packed with our luggages and there was no room for us to drive our trash out and dump it to the 2 locations. I did call the housekeeper to let them know when I was checking out. I was hesitant at first due to the lack of Yelp reviews; but look into their TripAdvisor reviews also. If you're going to Big Bear definitely book this adorable cabin!

Not much rental activity except in the winter, damage to the property that went unreported by housekeeping, and just the general vibe that our small cabin was a very low priority for them. Finally, we made the decision to change management this summer after we completed a remodel. I found Leanne in a Big Bear FB group online along with several other PMs who responded to a post I made about looking for new management. Leanne was the only one who provided helpful, tangible information when she reached out to me. We spoke and then I decided she and SkyHigh cabins would be our new managers. The onboarding process was smooth and detailed. They are extremely professional and walked me through the different stages of getting ready to "go live" on the various platforms they use. It took about 6 weeks to get everything completely switched over. But when we did go live in mid-October 2025, all I can say is WOW!! We've had 12 reservations made in just over a week's time! We didn't have 12 reservations in the last year total with the old company, so this has been very, very exciting for us. Aside from all of that, Leanne, Jennifer and their team are very communicative and helpful. If you are looking for new management, I cannot recommend them enough. Just do what they tell you to do, use their vendors, and follow their lead. They have figured out the algorithms and rental platforms to such a degree that your property will actually start to pay for itself. We were on the verge of selling our cabin, but now, we will be able to hold on to it. Call them today!!

It was lake front and extremely convenient for a walk into town. We brought sleeping bags, pillows and towels as well as our own cooking tools (which we did not use since we ate dinner in town). It worked and we would return. Cabin 53 is a studio with two queen form beds, the room had a new fridge and microwave that were pristine. Were the finishing perfect? No, but it worked for our needs--a bed get friendly place to sleep while we spent our days enjoying Big Bear. The hosts were very responsive to questions via text message which was greatly appreciated.

I really wanted to like this place but it was a disaster from start to finish…read more We drove all the way up to Big Bear and got there at 4:10 for our 4pm check-in. The cleaners didn't show up until 4:20. We had to leave and come back, and didn't actually get into Chalet Des Ours until after 5:30pm which completely threw off our first night since we had dinner plans. The door locks were broken - like actually broken. Every single time we left the house we had to yank the doors super hard to get them to lock and even then we weren't sure if they were actually secure. We were genuinely worried someone would break in and steal our stuff. How is this even allowed to be rented out with non-functioning locks? Then after we checked out they hit us with a $95 charge claiming we left the hot tub dirty. The water was cloudy when we got there that first night - looked exactly like their photo. We only used it twice, covered it both times, and put the temp back down like we found it. We were only there 2 nights. But of course we didn't think to take photos when we arrived because we didn't expect to be blamed for their poor maintenance. The whole thing felt like they don't actually take care of Chalet Des Ours and then charge guests when things go wrong. Between the late access, broken locks, and getting blamed for a dirty hot tub that was already dirty, I can't recommend this place. There are way better rentals in Big Bear where the owners actually care about keeping things maintained and not screwing over their guests
