My friends and I stayed here for a reunion trip, and it was amazing! Very quaint and cozy, the heater was nice and warm, the shower pressure and heat was good (the hot water turned on almost immediately!) and there was working wifi! Our cabin (11) was able to fit 5 of us, and we were able to play games, cook hot pot and curry, and use the tv perfectly. They had pretty good kitchen amenities, and the location was only a 10 minute drive from the snow tubing and grocery store. I've been here multiple times, and will continue to come again! read more

My wife and I decided to drive up to Big Bear on Saturday for a relaxing weekend without our 2 year old daughter. I go on airbnb and book a cabin. I have stayed at an airbnb probably a dozen or so times. I usually scan the rules and if there isn't anything strange and we meet the criteria I go ahead and book it. I never cause trouble and have a high rating on the site. At the time I book it asks for the number of "guests." I click two guests and go on my way. The webpage under house rules says (and this is the entirety of the house rules): "House rules Check-in: After 3:00 PM Checkout: 11:00 AM No smoking No pets" That is it. I can live with those rules. AFTER I book on airbnb and pay I get a message from the host asking me: how many guests? Exact exchange: "Welcome! Can you please confirm that you have 2 people and no pet. Due to the pandemic, we make sure to check in the exact number of guests when check in. No party or unknown guests for safety reason." I responded: "Hello. My wife and I are visiting this weekend to enjoy some restaurants and have a low-key night in afterwards. We are visiting from Los Angeles." At this particular moment when they say check in and guests I am interpreting that as people who will sleep over hence my response of two. In fact, only two people slept over that night: myself and my wife. We go to dinner with 4 other friends and afterwards around 930pm it was a bit too cold for us (high 30's) so I suggested to the four friends that we go hang out at the cabin for a bit. There was never any intention of them staying overnight. Two of the friends live nearby and the other had already booked another place down the road in Big Bear. When we get to the cabin at 9:30pm as I walk out to get a firelog with my friend (both latinos) by my side the host (an older white man) approaches me aggressively and says something to the effect of "you are violating the contract." I respond with something to the effect of: excuse me. What are you talking about? He says: the contract says in black and white that you can only have 2 guests. I respond: I think there is a misunderstanding. They are not guests, they are visitors. They are not staying over, only two of us are staying over, they are just visiting and will be going to their own places afterwards in a short while. At this point it escalates when the host (Dave) says: they need to leave right now or I will call the police on you and tow your cars. This despite that the posting says parking is free and there is free street parking. I am not someone who takes lightly to having the police called. I am an attorney in the state of California. I responded to him that he can call the police and that I would be happy to talk to them. He proceeds to argue with me about "the contract." I tell him I argue with people for a living (I never say what I do for work because I generally don't) and that the contract said no such thing. I showed him the house rules which say absolutely nothing about no visitors. At about 10pm (30 minutes later) a sheriff arrives. He decides there is nothing he can do since there is no crime being committe and he leaves. I was robbed of a restful night. I was simply relaxing at a cabin enjoying a quiet conversation with friends when I was forced to deal with the San Bernardino county Sheriffs department. read more

We were at another hotel near by and all I will say is it was straight out of a nightmare, to find Lakewood and be welcomed by Dave was a Godsend. My son (8) was amazed at your grounds and all the fun activities it provided, and upon walking into the cabin he said "I'm going to remember this forever". That is priceless. The well kept/stocked bathrooms and the quality bath soaps, the fully stocked kitchen- down to the seasonings were much appreciated. & lastly the bottle of wine. Such a kind gesture- one that you didn't need to do so thank you again! Your whole team reflects your attention to detail. Thank you thank you thank you!!" Additionally, These cabins would be perfect for a big group who want their own space while still being near each other. Play set, grills, fire pits in the tables, sleds/snow toys all provided. The temp inside the cabin stayed nice and toasty, the water was even quick to heat up, and it got HOT. The espresso machine pulled perfect shots, and all the appliances are updated and working. There are places right next door that charge the same price and are straight nightmare fuel. If you want to KNOW that what you're walking into is going to be worth your money, book here. I stayed at Cabin 7 (The Boat House) from Saturday until Monday afternoon. The cabin was clean and cozy. I really liked the wifi service. I was able to get a lot of work done on my laptop while sitting next to the fire place. The manager, David warmly greeted me when I arrived. He is a great resource and provided me with a couple places to eat for dinner. I also liked how each cabin is nicely spaced out. The tall pine trees and the lighting on the property created a warm and intimate environment. There are also several fire pits outside that can be used in the evening. Had the most fantastic week at Lakewood Cabins!! We had the most adorable cabin facing a huge courtyard with sitting areas, playground set, and fire pits with comfy chairs we took advantage of. It was so convenient to drive or walk to the village area for lunches and dinners. I can't wait to come back and bring other family members so we can all have cabins side by side facing the courtyard for hangouts! The cabin was beautiful and had literally everything we needed. Communication is fast and on point! Bonus, the grounds keeper gave us many inside tips and recommendations for the area! It snowed mid week so we took advantage and had coffee and hot chocolate on the porch most mornings, it was a dream. Also loved the fireplace and burning our duraflame logs each evening while watching tv and relaxing. This was the perfect spot to have a short reunion with several of my friends. Each family booked their own cabin which fits two adults and two kids. The kitchen was stocked with a good set of pots, pans, & trays so we were able to prep and have a pot luck/bbq in the main campground area. This is our second time back at cabin 4 and we can tell the owners have upgraded this place. The bed was super comfy and the bath towels were soft and plush. The best part of the trip was definitely the Nepresso espressos in morning. read more

We stayed here for the weekend recently. The property is in a convenient location, close to the lake, Summit Mountain, and less than a 10 minute walk to the village. We stayed in cabin #10. The unit looks to be recently renovated with new paint, flooring, kitchen area and bathroom. It was cozy and well decorated. Overall it was clean and well kept. David, the onsite manager was very friendly and helpful. Check-in was quick and easy. When we needed something or had questions, David was able to address our needs. The kids enjoyed the large open space and playground in the common area. There was also plenty of sitting areas that allowed us to watch the kids while they played. The BBQ and fire pits were great additions. We met up with a couple other families during our stay and the outdoor space was a great place for everyone to socialize and relax. The property looks to be very well kept with all the amenities and accommodations one would expect from a mountain getaway. We arrived to these beautiful cabins pretty late at night but still felt a cozy and warm atmosphere right upon arrival. The fantastic on-site manager David welcomed us and showed us our room and immediately we felt right at home. Our cabin was super clean and designed with such a great vibe. It even comes equipped with an espresso machine! Nature was right at our doorstep the whole trip and the property is less than a 5 minute walk to some awesome shops/restaurants. The internet is super fast as well which allowed us to work from the cabins and also take in a change a scenery with no issues. We thoroughly enjoyed the community area that illuminates at night with fire pits and gorgeous outdoor lighting. Relaxing by the fire pit at night with some s'mores is a must. Super cute cabin, perfect for our weekend getaway trip :) We comfortably fit 4 people in the cabin. The kitchen and living room are big, and the futon was comfortable! (we brought our own bedsheets, pillowcases, and blankets) The cabin had everything we need, and we had no trouble with the heater or the wifi. We used the BBQ grill outside a lot and had a wonderful time grilling up some skewers. The location is great, walking distance to the village. Definitely will stay here again :D read more

We spent a weekend at these lovely cabins in July for our family reunion. We rented a total of 3 cabins. We were so happy with everything from the ease of booking online, speaking to the owner, checking in with an onsite and helpful manager name Dave. My wife was also impressed on how clean the cabins were. The layout was perfect for all of the 3 families. It had a separate bedroom, full kitchen, full bathroom and its own living room. Most important is the stellar location of these cabins. It's a 10 minute walk to the village a 5 minute walk to the lake and a 5 min drive to Snow Summit. You are surrounded by coffee shops, restaurants, bars and cafes and located on a private and secluded street so you don't hear the street noise coming from big bear blvd. This is truly a hidden gem. We will definitely come back year after year. read more

Part 2 of 2: I couldn't fit my full review yesterday to this is where I left off... I have traveled extensively and normally stay at higher-end hotels but Big Bear is small, rustic and doesn't have those options.  In my experience, it is a reasonable expectation to be able to have visitors in your room so long as they do not stay overnight and you keep the noise level low.  Apparently the host Jenny, who lives in LA, has Dave manage all the on-site operations, does not allow visitors of any kind, but this was not relayed to us in our booking.  I was literally trembling and anxious from the situation and once our visitors left I made sure to lock all the windows and put a bench under the door, so I would hear it move should anyone try to enter.  Neither my husband or I could sleep well, I actually was jarred awake in the middle of the night thinking I heard the bench move and someone was trying to enter the cabin, my husband assuring everything was OK.  A couple hours later, I woke to my husband having a dream and audibly arguing with someone, likely a result of the evenings events.  This situation put a black cloud on the trip, where its sole intention was to relax and recharge, and we were left depleted of energy and enjoyment.  Out of fear of retaliation, we videoed the cabin's condition when we checked-out (almost an hour early) to have documentation.  We sent the host a message on the air b n b app letting her know we checked out and wanted to coordinate a phone call with her to discuss, she has yet to respond, but was able to comment on my husband's air b n b review and yelp review.  Additionally, she left the derogatory review on my air b n b account and I was not the one who booked it, but that's a whole different matter. read more

Total scam, went through air bnb and disclosed when legally i did not have to, to the host jenny that I had an ESA- emotional support animal. even have the screenshots of our convo. trained service animal did not pee inside once, it is potty trained, keep in mind this is a 95% tile cabin and at no point was the animal near a carpet, it was caged in the TILE kitchen. when it wasn't it was constantly being walked or taken out, as is it fully potty trained. left her a nice review and she violated air bnb TOS by discussing my esa and how she "had to hire someone to clean the pee" which is the host trying to keep more or all of my deposit. serially beware of jenny- cabin 9 owner/host and On-site manager David was a completely rude but quickly quieted down when I offered to show him proof jenny was made aware (even though i'm not required to do so) and showed him the proper prescription and documentation. then he calmed down and realized there was nothing he or jenny could do as I have rights, which she later violated via review in order to keep my deposit. Air bnb isn't too happy with her i'd imagine, they immediately took down both reviews, and will be opening an investigation into our hosts nefarious greed. Luckily I have 24/7 free legal support along with my prescription so i can take the appropriate legal actions and the time and date stamped screen shots to prove it....In fact i'd be a little nicer to those individuals with disabilities, the problems they can cause are not cheap or good for business. at n read more

This plaid themed cabin was so cute and cozy! I brought my mom to Big Bear Lake for her birthday and this place was perfect This is my first time staying in a cabin! Everything was super neat and clean when we arrived and the manager David and Airbnb owner Jenny were so accommodating! The location is perfect too: 2-3 min drive to Big Bear Lake and The Village where all the restaurants and shops are. David was super nice, he even gave us recommendations for where to go and what to do in Big Bear. He also started the fire pit for us so we can make s'mores and relax in the evening. I was super excited pulling up with my family to my cabin Only to have the man running the front desk tell me that he messed up my reservation (with a king bed) by giving the room to another family. He then showed me a much smaller cabin with a full size bed. The kitchen light doesn't turn on. And the guy actually had the nerve to tell me not to get the place dirty because it's made for 2 people and we have 4. Very unhappy with the outcome. The shower leaks and makes a huge puddle outside. So much for a good remodel. Other than my complaints the place has been a good stay if it was just me and my wife and not the 2 kids. This doesn't seem to be a family oriented place and more of a couples get away for a night. read more

I came here with my boyfriend to celebrate his birthday and we couldn't have asked for a better weekend retreat! The cabin we stayed in was so cozy and cute and the decoration felt very homey and personal. When we arrived, we were greeted by the on-site manager Dave who was super friendly and helpful; he also built a bonfire outside at night which was so nice!! The cabins are also in a close proximity to the village while still in a very peaceful location, making it the perfect retreat to relax while still having access to nice shops and food. Lakewood Cabins was an excellent choice to stay at and relax in Big Bear. Quiet and good location to restaurants and village area. We were greeted by Dave, the onsite manager. He was very helpful and gave us suggestions and tips to maximize our stay. I found him to be very professional and friendly. We stayed at cabin 4 last time and had such a great mini vacation we booked another stay. Cabin 4 has 2 bathrooms and since we only used one bathroom last time we decided this time to try another cabin. This time we stayed at Cabin 7. It was the perfect cabin in size and decor. It had all the amenities we needed. The kitchen had plenty of room to cook. The cabin has Roku TV & excellent fast WiFi service. We had supper outside and Dave was kind enough to light up the fire pit. We had a fantastic time and it was the perfect getaway to recharge. Thank you Dave and Jenny for your attentiveness. I stayed in this cabin last weekend. I really like it. David is the manager here and he is super nice. Willing to help everyone as much as possible. He said these cabin all already been remodel so that's why looks so nice now. I really like the design and it's really easy to get food if you want to walk. There are only five mins walk to get to the beat breakfast in town. In the cabin, they have board games and marshmallow for the customers. Really recommend this place. I was very sadly disappointed by the service of this place. I recently booked a stay for the same night, and I was calling to inform the front desk that I will be arriving with my service dog. Both my Expedia booking agent and I were calling during business hours for almost an hour with no response. I finally got an email from them, and I called the number on the email and was able to speak with the property manager, who rudely informed me that they do not accept any type of animals - even service animals for people with disabilities. I informed him that what he is doing is against the law and he said he knew that. Very rude, unlawful and unprofessional. I'm glad I didn't end up staying here. They did issue a refund. read more

As soon as we arrived at the Cabins, the on-site manager greeted us and directed us to our cabin, cabin #9. The kitchen was really nice and clean. There was everything we needed, ranging from cups, plates, to pans. The living room was really cozy with pretty new- looking furniture. Bathroom was pretty small but seemed to be newly renovated. DO NOT STAY IN CABIN #9. Be aware of this dump. My friends and I planned a snowboarding trip in big bear. We picked this place because it had 3.5 stars, which normally isn't that bad, and it was one of the cheapest cabins we could find. There was liquid stains on the tiny couch and it was dusty like it has never been cleaned. There was dust everywhere, no cable TV, the only channel we could get was a Spanish channel. The bathroom floor creaked because the tiles were broken and unstable and the shower leaked water everywhere. The place just looked like it had never been cleaned thoroughly. On top of all of this they make their guests sweep, clean the stove, wipe the counters down and strip all beds of their linens themselves. Take my advice and spend the extra money to stay somewhere nicer and cleaner. read more

I LOVE these cabins! They are SO cozy, spacious and fit 4 people very comfortable. The cabins are very clean. I would come back here anytime. The cabins are close to rentals, delicious restaurants, The Village, and less than 1 mile from Summit or Bear! Dave was great, he was friendly and professional.
