    Dust around trimmings

My husband and I, along with our two month old, have been wanting to get away from LA, especially since staying at home is the new norm now. I've had my eye on this place since finding it on Booking, but the prices were insane! $1288/night was out of the question, so I watched the price and decided to check their website out. Luckily, booking through their website was cheaper. Anyway, we were definitely excited to get away from the city to relax. We booked the cabin with one bedroom and a loft, which ended up being cabin 2. It wasn't like the pictures. We were cabin catfished! First of all, it was freezing cold when we got there. They have you check-in only after 3, and had asked me when I was going to arrive. So why didn't they turn the heater on? The weather outside was 22 degrees! Again, I have a two month old, so I had to keep her warm, and the cabins are not well insulated. I was able to email the host to ask for a portable heater, and they answered promptly. My husband had to go outside to a shed behind cabin 1, in the dark, and grab the heater. The shed was full of spilled cleaning chemicals, sheets, towels and cabin supplies in piles. The heat didn't work, then I had to email them again and they said there was another in the shed too. Thankfully, my husband found that one hiding under a pile of bags and towels and it worked. After we settled in a bit, we realized the place was a bit run down, dusty, and not cleaned. It wasn't even a little dirty, it actually felt both lived in and neglected. We found hot Cheetos on the bathroom floor, hair in the shower, hair on the mattresses, pieces of trash in the living space, thick cobwebs over lights, spiders... there was dust on every surface. The couch had stains and dirt on it -- we laid a blanket over it to sit down comfortably without feeling grossed out. One of the beds wasn't even made well -- the fitted sheet wasn't even on fully and it looked like someone had slept in the bed already. The shower curtain had stains all over. You might ask why we didn't just leave. Well, it was dark out and a massive snow storm was beginning, driving home 2.5 hours down a mountain wasn't an option. The next day, we were pretty much snowed in with over a foot of fresh snow. The road conditions weren't safe to head home and we were excited to see snow, so we stayed. The host offered to get the cleaners out to us again, but with Covid, we had no where to go and didn't want a stranger in the cabin putting us all at risk. Their excuse for the condition of the cabin was that the cleaners were a bit rushed with 6 cabins to clean the day we arrived, with a snow storm coming. What we found was not a rushed cleaning, but a general neglect and lack of attention from the owners of this place. Really disappointed about the place. The pictures are outdated and I'm sure it was really nice before, but their upkeep is terrible, especially for the prices they're charging. If I was the owner, I'd make sure the place was still nice and worth the prices they're charging. Due to Covid, you would think they were more strict about their cleaning, but you'd never know they were taking a single precaution during this pandemic, with no hand sanitizer in sight and cabins being rented, vacated, hastily cleaned and re-rented within hours. Not sure how that's safe. Anyway, our cleaning fee was refunded, but it doesn't make me happy with the prices they're charging and knowing they weren't taking Covid seriously. I'm so glad we brought our big box of Clorox wipes! I shouldn't feel the need to have to clean everything, but I guess with Covid, you have to anyway. We were really hoping for a relaxing stay, but we felt anxious and grossed out when we were inside.

    this kitchen is so cute!

I recently stayed at the Colorado lodge with three other girlfriends this past July 31-August 2 and absolutely loved it! The aesthetics of the lodge were really great and we loved that we had our own private jacuzzi outside. It was a lovely quiet and relaxing stay and we can't wait until we return to make more memories there! Karina Ixta

This cozy cabin in Big Bear was the exact getaway I needed from Los Angeles. The decor was modern and cozy, and I felt right at home. Loved the jacuzzi, full kitchen, and recommendations of local spots to walk to. Highly recommend as a solo trip or with a group. Any time of year is perfect: cozy up in winter or grill outside in the summer!

I have stayed at the Colorado Lodge MANY TIMES and it is still my favorite spot in Big Bear. I come up from LA as often as possible. These are Vintage vibey cabins on the outside with clean Swedish design on the inside. Comfortable and stylish. What I love about Colorado Lodge is there are lots of trees so you feel like your in the woods but you can easily walk into town. I'm a big mountain biker so for me my favorite thing is I can ride straight from Colorado Lodge to Summit on my mountain bike. Door to door on my bike. It's truly the perfect location. This property has about 7 cabins on it. I'v stayed in single cabins for private getaways as well as taken over the entire compound with friends and family. That is a MUST! Bring everyone you know and take over the property. So fun to bounce from cabin to cabin popping in on friends. Hope you all enjoy CL as much as I do.

I had high hopes for this place. Took my family here recently and can't say we'd ever return. We found 10+ hairs on our beds and pillows as well as trash scattered outside. Luckily, we were able to receive a refund, but had to suddenly leave and scramble at 10pm to find another place to spend the night. Luckily, we found one at 10pm through another source.

Cannot believe how amazing this spot is up in big bear!! The code on the door made check in so easy, the hot tub was always hot for a soak after skiing, and it came with all the appliances for a home cooked meal. It's also super close to downtown as well as bear mountain. The perfect spot for a couple or a group of friends, they have room for everyone! Will definitely be coming back soon and will be dreaming of this bathtub until then.

Loved it! The cabin was clean, cozy, well designed, and conveniently located.

    Hot tub time machine!

I've been to Big Bear many times always choosing a different property, but not anymore. This will be my go to from now on! It feels secluded yet it's only a few minutes walk into town. Sitting in a hot tub surrounded by trees, looking at the stars and enjoying a cold adult beverage is as good as it gets. The mid century cabin vibe and simple touches like great coffee, comfy beds and all the Netflix coffee you could ask for after a lot day of hiking, hits the spot.

I am very plugged into the Big Bear rental community and have used other property managers in the past. I have also stayed as a guest in vacation rentals in Big Bear prior to owning my own. I was told years ago when we were looking for a new manager that Leanne was "best on the mountain" and after 4+ years I have to say we agree with that sentiment. She has her own properties up in Big Bear as well so she really understands what's important. She has somehow managed to form a highly effective team which is no small feat in Big Bear as it is often difficult to find hard workers! That alone is very impressive. Leanne has kept our place booked consistently these last 4 years even with all the challenges of being on the mountain (fires, blizzards, road closures, etc). If I ever reach out directly to Leanne she always responds promptly so she is very accessible to the home owners. Some of the reasons we left our last prop manager were because we were getting bad renters, last minute cancellations, and they did not support a higher end of service we wanted to provide (more amenities, personal touch, etc). With Leanne everything runs very smoothly and we have never been told they could not support what we wanted to do. I recommend Leanne all the time to others and some of my friends are also using her for their vacation rentals as well. If you are looking for a property manager I recommend interviewing 4-5 as they all vary and you want the best fit for your situation. Leanne was so easy to talk to and I read her management agreement in advance before deciding. You can learn a lot about the different PMs by reading there contracts!

On the wildlife issue: Whether it was rodent or bat droppings isn't the point -- either way, it's a health and safety hazard, and that's what my review addressed. On timing, we were told cleaning was signed off around 3:40-3:50 PM and we weren't given access to the unit until nearly 4:00 PM. By the host's own timeline, that leaves only a 10-20 minute window for this to have happened after cleaning -- or the unit wasn't properly cleaned to begin with. Either way, it should have been caught before a family with small children moved in. As for the house rules disclosing general wildlife possibility in Big Bear: a blanket disclosure doesn't excuse an active, uncleaned health hazard in the room our kids were about to sleep in. On "solution after solution": When we first called the property's staff, we were told there was no reported active issue at the unit -- no remediation or transfer was offered at that point. It was only after we contacted Airbnb support directly that a possible move to another property came up, and by then we chose to stay with family instead rather than lose more time getting our kids settled. To be clear, we never requested compensation, a discount, or anything beyond the refund for the booking we could no longer stay at and the playpen deposit. The mention of a future discount, and later a free stay at the owner's personal cabin, were both raised unprompted by her staff and the owner -- I only followed up to ask about the discount after her team had already brought it up, and we ultimately declined the cabin offer. On the Venmo/deposit point: This wasn't in my original review because it wasn't relevant to it; the owner raised it. For accuracy: we received both the Airbnb refund and the playpen deposit refund in full. The mismatch was in urgency -- the deposit was requested and paid promptly to get our kids settled, but getting it returned took three follow-up messages over a full day before it was processed that night. On the unannounced visit: While I was upstairs on the phone with Airbnb support trying to resolve this, the host sent an unfamiliar man to the property without confirming who was there or where. My wife and our two young children were downstairs. Regardless of exact positioning, having a stranger show up unannounced during an active safety complaint is not okay. On the personal outreach: We heard nothing from the owner personally until after this review was posted. At that point, she called, left a lengthy voicemail, and sent numerous long texts to my personal phone. Some of what was shared in that contact was inappropriate and unrelated to the situation, and I won't detail it here out of respect for her privacy -- but the manner and timing of it were unprofessional. Our original review reflected an accurate, factual account of what happened. We stand by it and won't be engaging further in the comments.

What I noticed about the location of this cabin was that it was further away from the heavy tourist areas but close enough to grocery stores, restaurants and shops. So if you are looking for peace and quiet this is the perfect getaway from the everyday stresses of life. This cabin includes a living room with a cute fireplace, a small but full kitchen with a eating area, full bathroom (water pressure is good and it heats up pretty quickly), a bedroom with a closet, access to the backyard, a front porch and a cozy loft with a flatscreen TV that I didn't touch once. I was primarily there solo to detox from the busy life of Los Angeles and not to ski since I was there beginning of May. Snuggle Bear Cabin had everything I needed to detox. I laid out my yoga mat and meditation pillow upstairs in the loft and it had an inviting view of tall trees out the window. It was a perfect environment to reflect on life, letting all creative juices flow, read and write. The solitude was exceptionally welcome. The final full day that I was there, my boyfriend came up to join me. And really...all we did was snuggle. I highly recommend this beautiful cabin for anyone to deeply relax and enjoy the natural wonders of Big Bear. Thank you, Melia, for his wonderful experience.

This is super dangerous and luckily my youngest daughter did not get burned. There is no reason to allow your water heater to pump out scolding hot water, that is a simple adjustment. Fan in the bathroom is broken upstairs so to get air flow from a shower, you need to open the window which is in direct view of the neighbors living space. How the cleaning service does not notice this is confusing. The towels in the bathrooms are literally rags, all mixed matched, some with holes and super thin. Just a bit odd when you need 4 towels to dry off. The kitchen did not have a decent quality or array of items needed. The dishwasher had a rubber band holding the utensil tray on. The fireplace/living room was why we choose this location so that was as expected. The lingering Christmas decorations were a bit odd but with the overall quality of the property, it makes me think the property is just not either rented often or maintained. And last but not least, while we stayed for 2 nights, keep in mind we were out and about all day, a critter chewed all the wiring in our engine. It definitely was at this cabin since our engine light went on when we were departing on our last day. We assumed it was a faulty sensor since my car is new but as it turns out, $1,067 later, something ate through our engine while it was parked at the unit. And, that $1,067 may not fix it. If it doesn't work, the dealership told me they would need to replace this entire section. I did not bother to ask how much that was going to be. There are signs all over reminding you to not feed critters and you can not use their city issued trash receptacles. They want you to take the trash with you to this local dump which for this cabin, was in a convenient location. Not a big deal they want you to take the trash, but I am assuming the critter issue is a much bigger problem. We also opted to have the trip insurance just in case of weather. Although they cover a wide array of random things, the one thing they have listed as being not covered is.......VERMIN. I notified the management and they responded with a we will look into it. Does anyone else notice there are only 5 star reviews on their Big Bear Cabin website? Good thing we have other options on google & yelp to make a review!

Michelle' I responded immediately asking what had happened and that i was unaware of any issues while renting. I feel like this type of communication was rude and absolutely presumptuous that i caused the damage. You see, i went to Big Bear when everything was covered in snow. It had been covered for the last weeks from a previous snowfall, and the snow had not melted yet. When i arrived at my cabin, it was completely covered - including the deck. We were not able to use the deck for this reason. Obviously the rental company did not shovel the snow in between renters. There was no further response from her and she escalated the issue to the AirBnb team. There was no dialogue or attempt to speak with me regarding this, which I believe would have deescalated the situation because i attached a picture clearly showing that the deck was covered in snow/ice. It did not snow while we were there - this was obviously from previous snowfall. The damage pictures she sent looked like a burn marks on the deck. Those burn mark pictures were soaked in snow melt and ice. Obviously this could not have been done by me i my picture shows the deck covered in snow. Till today, after escalating the issue the rental company has not followed up with myself or AirBnb. It is unprofessional and unnecessary to work with your customers this way. This company turned my great vacation into anxiety when i came home. I would never rent with them again. We called after booking to confirm reservation and make a request to be placed near each other. I called the evening before our stay, again, to request the rooms be situated near each other and was confirmed they had all 3 reservations (2 rooms on one reservation under my BIL and 1 room on a separate reservation under my husband). We make our 2hr drive up to Big Bear and upon checking-in (around 3pm), we're told they couldn't find either reservations! Here's the shady part: one of the female employee hears this, she steps in to take over. She proceeds to tell us that the reservations were not in their system, they have no means of altering the system therefore it couldn't inadvertently be cancelled, she was new but somehow gave the response that this has never happened before, and she continues to insist my husband and BIL contact their credit card and third party booking agency (in addition to Extra Holidays which has nothing to do with our reservation) to address the issue, despite us showing email proof of reservation and payment. No one more experienced or even a manager (who appeared to be standing behind this receptionist) stepped in to help this "new" worker. After about almost an hour of "there's nothing I could do on my end" excuses, and having had 3rd party booking confirmation, the receptionist confirmed that EVEN if we were to verify all of this, they had no rooms available for our party. Which was odd because we were early for check in. Later that day, my husband got on the phone with the 3rd party booking agency we used to get a refund, they called the hotel to confirm we didn't stay, and here's the UNETHICAL part: WorldMark confirmed with the agent that THEY CANCELLED our reservation!!! A quick Google search for reviews on this issue showed this has been a common practice of WorldMark. They over book rooms by up to 20% banking on cancellation. But if not, then they drop the paid reservations, often without any notice. This is completely shady and unethical greedy business practice. We were fortunate enough to only have a 2hr drive, but folks traveling from out of state or country would have had no other accommodations! Please be aware and DO NOT EVER BOOK WITH WORLDMARK. The employees know what's up and they do not care and will lie just to get you out of the way.

I was hot and tired from a long hike I did and it was really hard for me to cool down in the room and get a nap in unfortunately. The good news is that the room cools off as soon as the sun moves behind the cabin. The studio suite I was in was pretty well equipped. Keep in mind they ask you to not rely on housekeeping to take care of any messes you might make while you are there. Sometimes when you go on vacation you sometimes want to leave the chores at home but this lodge asks that you haul out your trash and respectfully clean all the dishes used for coffee, etc. I was fine with that but just something you should be aware of when about to check out. Also read the literature they give you at check in thoroughly . I didn't realize I needed to hang a parking sign on my parked car until I read the brochure at 5am the next day but lucky for me my car was still there. Also reading the literature in the envelope they mentioned check out was at 11 but the introductory email I was sent said 10, so there was that indecision as to how late I should sleep in to but I just decided to check out at 7 instead and save any headache and also get a jump on the crowds at Grizzly Manor Diner. Great place for families tho, lots of space to run around outside, bikes to ride around, campfires to sit around, and bring your swimming trunks too. Taking a dip in their pool is the instant solution to the air conditioning dilemma besides taking a cold shower. I'd give Noon Lodge 4.5 stars w the opportunity for 5 if they had some AC, but like I said, check the temps ahead of time and probably stay here if it doesn't get above 80 the days you come.

I love this place and will be back! Where to start? The location is perfect. You still get to be on…read morethe lake, without being on the busy part of the lake. You feel like you are getting your own cabin. Not a hotel. Check in was so easy! Parked in my cabins spot. Saw the lobby sign. Walked up, saw our name, grabbed the envelope which had the key, a map, a pamphlet and all inside. Walked right to our cabin and that was it. We stayed in cabin 10 since there was 6 of us. Downstairs was the kitchen, living room, bathroom with shower and a bedroom with a queen bed. Then upstairs, a loft with a twin over full bunk bed, then another bathroom with shower and a large bedroom with queen bed and a balcony overlooking the lake. There was a nice size pool with loungers, a few fire pits with chairs around, picnic tables, cute lighting, soft music. Games here and there like cornhole. Towels provided at the pool. Canoes that you can use. Just make sure to sign the waiver. We used the canoes everyday. No extra cost. Jesus was so helpful! Texted him a couple of times and immediately was there to help (like get the stuff for the canoe and turn on the fire pit, not any problems.) yeah the place is a little older but All of big bear is. It's outdoors. It's camping vibes. Sorry I didn't get more pics!
