My family and I rented a Cabin over the holiday season and we are disappointed to report the lack of upkeep and cleanliness we encountered. There are some serious deficits in service the property management company needs to address immediately. We were told an early check-in may be possible, but ended up having to wait u til 4pm for the cabin to be cleaned. We understood check-in was at 4pm, so we kept busy. However, we were seriously disappointed when we arrived to the cabin, which itself was rustic and lovely, and began to take note of the filthy conditions of the kitchen, living rooms, bedrooms and bathrooms. To begin, there were cobwebs throughout the house and dusty decorations strewn about, which isn't great, but ok, so they need to dust better. What grossed us out, beyond belief, were the bathrooms, bedding, and carpets. The bathroom mats had footprints and stains on them from previous use. The shower ceilings had mold, the shower floors were permanently stained, bathroom light switches and walls hadn't had a basic wipe down in quite some time, etc. To make matters worse, the bedroom bedding was as questionable as the bathroom mats. The bedding was old, had stains, and smelled mothy; one of us even found a dust bunny under our pillow. The dressers were filthy, stains in the front and in the drawers, small trash particles in drawers, etc. The spare blankets and pillows the property management company advertised were found balled up on the closet floors, touching the carpets that come in contact with the bottoms of everyone's shoes. The kitchen chair cushions had food crust and stains all over them and if you walked along the carpet without shoes, you could feel and see food and paper particles stuck the bottom of your feet. Given the excess of filth all over the house, we resorted to going to Kmart and spending nearly $300 on bedding, blankets, bathroom mats, cleaning supplies, etc. We replaced bedding and mats for 7 beds and two bathrooms. Two of our guests even fell through the plywood baseboards of the beds they slept on!! We had paid extra to have a fire place service that was supposed to leave wood in the fireplace, ready to light, but the fireplaces were empty. When we called the property management company, we were told they were running behind schedule but were on their way...no one ever showed. The stay was incredibly disappointing due solely to service and cleanliness. We are a no frills family so we sucked it up and made the best of it, but the leadership at Cool Cabins has some serious issues to reconcile within their organization. They need to dedicate someone to ensuring quality of service and cleanliness. Save yourself the anguish and expense and rent through a company that prioritizes customer service! Sorry, Cool Cabins, but this is unacceptable. At the cost of your rentals, you should be taking far more care and pride in the experience of your customers! read more

The check in process is horrible . They don't think about the client ! It is what is easiest for them. Not user friendly. The client has to check in at the office which is away from the cabin just to get the key! I talked with a manager and she knows how to respond to things like why not keyless entry. She was dishonest and told me they've tried but due to the cold they can't. I look things up and found there are keyless entry's that work at -35 degrees. I don't think it get s that cold up there! No one wants to drive up that hill and in traffic for three hours and then have to find an office in the pitch black . No one was at the office when I first got there either. It took me an extra hour to get into my place when all was said and done. Then they tell you are responsible to take your trash to the dump . Again I am the guest I don't want to go in the wrong direction and into where all the traffic was to dump the trash.. it was very congested in town. I was told that is a city ordinance. I looked it up again and that is not true. They are trying to encourage people not to litter but it is not a city ordinance. They had trash cans at the property and they have people clean so I didn't quite get it. Again just to their benefit. If you can book this a different way , do it. It's too bad they leave a bad taste in your mouth this stuff and dishonesty, because the actual place was cute and clean. The kitchen had everything needed. It has a really nice fenced yard for my dog and she loved it out there. They did bring a new lantern so I could see my dog out back as it was very dark out there. It is just a studio so it is small. read more

I booked one night cabin reservation and two months before the actual stay date I called to cancel the reservation. They refused then I asked for $150 cleaning fee to be refunded as we would not be staying at their cabin. They still refused to refund the cleaning fee. Stay away. read more

We reserved the cabin for 3 nights but left after 2 days because the beds in the cabin were TRASH. It was nearly impossible to get comfortable on the old springy mattresses! On night 2 I had to use 2 pillows so that I could at least try to sleep. Seriously, they need to invest in quality mattresses. Ssheesshh, even the beds in the motel 6 are better! Also, Netflix didn't work... There were no wash towels... And the cabin was not sufficiently cleaned. Conclusion: when making reservations, ask about all of the above. AND if the staff should read this: I do not care for an apology. How about yall make some upgrades to the mattresses and train the cleaning crew. read more

We reserved Lakefront Oasis. At check in, the team was very efficient. When we entered the cabin, we were accosted by stale air, like a combination of mildew and dust. It was very hot, and we attempted to turn the AC on, but it did not come on. We called the office, and they informed us that the owner did not provide air conditioning, only heat. At well over $300/night, I would expect air conditioning in July. The office team was great, and provided a portable A/C unit, which helped greatly in the living room. The upstairs bedrooms are useless in summer due to the heat. Worse, the cabin was very dirty. We dropped crumbs on the living room floor and when we wiped them up, the damp paper towel was filthy. Everything we touched in the kitchen was sticky. I write this not to complain, as I love Big Bear and stay there often, but rather to ask Cool Cabins to do a better job in cleaning and evaluating the cabins they represent. read more

I'll keep it short and simple but this company is not accommodating to the customer. You can definitely get the feel it's about the overall profits and not customer satisfaction and there's just too much of that with corporations lately. We rented a cabin that did not state that it had no A/C and it was 85 degrees in the cabin. We called and messaged asking if we could get our money back since we had only been there for about 20 minutes and if we could relocate and were met with a good ole "nope". When we contested the charge and moved to a new cabin with a different company, we were met with CRAZY messages back, which led to the company saying they were hacked. lol. Anyway, it seems I didn't keep it super short, but the skinny is, I probably wouldn't trust this company with your money cause they will take it no matter what goes wrong with their product. read more

We stayed here last month and let me tell you it was the best experience ever! We stayed at the cabin called Kern Korner ( I believe that was the name) but it was a cozy cabin lots of space and very clean I would definitely stay again... And did I mention we picked a great weekend because it had snowed the night before so my kiddos got to play in the snow, The ladies in the front office were also very nice and respectful. read more

BEAR LOOP ESTATES: $1200/night This weekend rental is by far the worst experience I've had considering the cost of our rental. Below is a list of all the problems with this property. 1) We found dog feces underneath the master bed (ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!) 2) The downstairs bathroom toilet hose was leaking, flooding the floors. (We had 3 separate times someone had to attempt to fix this problem) 3) The oven was unusable because it would smoke up the entire first floor (Maintenance guy had to take apart the oven because it was in such horrible condition he had to clean it out.) 4) The left side of the garage door was not working (technician was unable to fix) 5) The day of check in at 7pm the hot water stopped working 6) On Saturday when we had plans to go the the ski lodge I had to personally stay back because a technician was scheduled to come back to fix the toilet. I am beyond livid at the fact that on my vacation I had to deal with back to back problems with this rental. To be honest I don't even believe that this property should be rented out to ANYONE considering how bad the conditions were. This property wasn't even cleaned prior to us checking in. It wreaked of old socks, dust everywhere, cigarette ash on the beds, beer cans and an empty cigarette box on the upstairs balcony AND AGAIN DOG FECES FOUND! read more

For this Labor Day weekend we stay at one of the big bear cool cabins " Bear mountain Retreat" and we loved it . Cozy little cabin for a family of 4. Our neighbors were so friendly and the area was very nice , nice walks , literally down the block from the big bear zoo. The best part was we got a deal where you can order your food online and they will take it to your cabin , so it was so nice walking in to seeing drinks , snacks , dinner stuff / lunch stuff and other goodies. I'm a mom of two and took my own stuff also but you don't really need it they have everything. I will say this I found some of the utensils a bit dirty that's the only thing negative with me other than that we had a lovely stay :). Will definitely come back! We booked a the Eagle Landing home with Big Bear Cool Cabins. 1. Upon arrival the driveway was not cleaned. Snow was so high we couldn't park in the driveway. The street is very narrow so we had to wait for someone to come out and clean it. While waiting, we blocked traffic on the narrow street. Luckily a neighbor (we assume) came out with a snow plow on his car and cleaned it. 2. We had to remove all the snow to be able to use the stairs to get to the home and open the entrance door. Would be nice if there was a shovel so guests can clean the entrance. 3. It is a one bedroom home with a pullout bed for 2 people. No pillows, no fitted sheets provided. I guess guests are supposed to use decorative pillows. However, upon calling they said they will send someone, still waiting if someone will show up. 4. No coffee maker, apparently owner did not provide it. 5. Lights in the bedroom do ect ect The house is clean with major supplies provided, however managed horribly. On top of it, when booking with Cool Cabins you receive 7 emails, have to download a app, upload your ID. Then you get an email to email them your credit card and to sign a 7 page contract. Even though the home has an electric look, you have to drive to the office to get the address and show your credit card and ID. Just go with AirBnB and save tons of time. read more

We stayed here at the Rincon Cabin for a week and everything about this cabin was more than we expected. The yard is surrounded by trees and the views were just perfect. Our dogs really loved being outside with so much room to run free. If you are looking for a quiet , relaxing time, I recommend staying here. This was our first time renting from Cool Cabins and the staff was extremely nice and made the check in process really easy! Thank you again! The kitchen was fully stocked with pots pans & utensils so cooking was super easy, the bedrooms were all adorable and comfortable. The heater was perfect in keeping us warm. The fireplace outside and inside were the perfect touch. The location was right by Snow Summit and Bear mountain so snowboarding was very easy to plan. Our stay at Bear Paz cabin was such a great experience! The check-in and check-out process went smoothly. The cabin itself was very homey and welcoming. The bedding and sheets were clean and the beds were comfortable. They also have multiple fire pits (both in the front and back of the house) so it was nice to enjoy the outdoor space without freezing. Once I got there and called to check in, they said they forgot to take the Airbnb listing down and the rental is no longer available and they were not helpful in finding me another spot. Under no circumstance use Cool Cabins! They have the absolute worse customer service. I unknowingly booked a cabin with them using Airbnb. I stay in Airbnb all over the world with all different types of owners both individual of large companies. I get to the cabin after a long drive and realize they want me to drive 15 mins each way to sign a document before getting a code to go inside. I call let them know I have to your kids they need to use the bathroom and can the just give me the code, and as you can imagine the feed me some bogus line that there is a law that I have to come check-in in person. I would not recommend to anyone to rent the single cabin called Little Squeaky Bear located 661 Spruce Rd #2. It was way over-priced and in horrible condition. The bathroom shower/tub was disgusting, severely damaged and decayed. The knobs did not even turn right. We could not even take a shower the whole weekend we were there. The cabin is very low and in poor quality condition to charge anyone over $200.00 a night. read more

Big Bear Cabins is located on Big Bear Lake Blvd. They reserve and manage cabins in surrounding areas. Came for one night to spend sometime at the lake. We reserved Luna's Den. The cabin itself had all the great amenities such as a kitchen, fry pan, utensils, glasses, coffee maker, refrigerator, stove and oven. The cabin also had a dart board and game board room, record albums and an LP player. There was even a resting spot for Buster, our dog. The fireplace was clean and the cabin was kept orderly. One drawback was when we had the fire going in the fireplace, the fire alarms went off. It doesn't help having a fire alarm located on the post right in front of the fireplace. The entire room does get smoky, so I'd keep the windows open and a fan ready. The location was a bit funky with the surrounding cabins being boarded up and abandoned. At night, walking out kind of felt like a scary horror movie. There were no lights on the side of the cabin along the driveway. The front entrance faces towards the back, which did help making it more quaint, away from the abandoned cabins. Make sure and read check in instructions. Get your keys and contract from their main location. Get your free firewood with yelp check-in! read more

The good was the Sweet Pine Cabin. It is small, charming and cozy. I loved the big yard that my dog could play freely in, protected by a chain link fence all around. The bed was comfy and I had great TV with all the major channels. My favorite room was the kitchen with it's retro appliances. Just too sweet for words. The bad was that the cabin was dirty when I got here. I arrived about 6 and the check in time is 4. No excuse for that. My dog and I had to wait in the car while the cabin was serviced because the cleaning crew was scared of my dog. The ugly was the staff at Cool Cabins. Rude, not helpful, and certainly not friendly. They must just only hire young girls who know nothing about customer service. They sneered at me for not having GPS and I had to really beg for help finding the cabin after getting lost once and going back. read more

Big Bear Cool Cabins is great, they have a wonderful and helpful staff. They respond very quickly while you are in their cabins, if need be. We have rented from then twice, once we needed maintenance they were there within thirty minutes; and the issue was resolved within an hour of the original call we placed to their office. The check in and check out process couldn't be easier. It is cheaper to rent from them than it is VRBO or Air BNB, and they show many of the same cabins. Plus you get in person customer service if you need it, from professionals not weirdos. I highly recommend them if you are planning a trip to Big Bear. read more

Like most cabins no air conditioning-- they put fans around the place so that was awesome. This cabin had a single bathroom and 2 bedroom Scardino hideaway-- more affordable than AirBNB -- no secret fees-- I paid as advertised and no additional charges. There are the usual rules-- take your own trash to the BB dump or drop off at the dumpster at the rental office. Dishes, stove, kitchen amenities, paper towels, NEW wrapped sponge, one roll of TP-- so If you have food intolerances bring your own additional roll-- BYOTP -- if you need more than one for the weekend-- I did since I had 3 people. It was also nice they reminded me in their email. With COVID times-- I was supremely happy w the rental. I did wash the dishes and put them back and treated the place as my own home. Inside is a bit dim, so open all the curtains. Beds x 2 were comfortable upstairs and extra blankets in the closet. There was enough space for you to bring air mattresses if you need to sleep more people. Tons of towels and washcloths. One bar of soap also new and sample sizes x 1 set of lotion, shampoo and conditioner, body wash. Doors are screened. So open them for cool fresh air-- I left one open accidentally and the moths found me. Some ants here and there so no food to be left out. A playful squirrel lives in the trees. Large BBQ grill on patio- if I was there longer-- I'd definitely be grilling anything that had a face. Parking driveway for 2. The cabin is well used-- so I felt comfortable and relaxed. Sometimes when the place looks too showroom, I feel like I am guest. Here I felt homey. Lock box out front. Pitch black at night -- so have your gps on to find the place. Close enough to everything -- 7 miles from fawnskin/ greys peak for hiking, 3 miles from where I strolled the lake, pine knot village area also close about 5 miles. I did not ask or use the advertised kayaks or bikes. You have to transport them yourself to where you want to recreate and I drive a Prius-- so my car can't carry. I suppose you could bike to the lake or town, but the road doesn't have a bike lane, you'll be sharing the lane and well, let's just say, you'd stick out like a nail and you may get hammered. This rental was Cheaper than the village lodging but more expensive than the motels-- I prefer the space and kitchen -- so price point was exactly right. I rented for Friday to Monday since I like to leave after early dinner on Sunday. Monday rental was given at a discount on their website. Will definitely use cool cabin again. Fast text messages, price point excellent, clean, homey (this place a little dim and well used), safe neighborhood I think-- I didn't have any distrust or issues. Full fridge. read more

I rented a cabin for few days next to the lake, I have to say I had a better place in Mexico than what I got in the mountain. Nasty rug. Bad service by the owner watching us on his/ her camera's and calling us every 20 mint. Let's not for get I had to walk 5 minutes to the main street to throw my trash out.
