My husband went in and one of the staff members started talking trash about him because he was black and thought he left the restaurant but we was still sitting there waiting for our food. First time here but I went with someone who had been once before a few years ago. You walk in, pick up a menu, place your order(and pay) at the register, and then they bring your food to you. Not the biggest fan of this form of restaurant but it works so whatever. I ordered the Large Pulled Chicken Sandwich, which only comes with one small side by the way; not a fan of that either. Food was delivered to our table quickly and the "waitress" was nice and attentive. This, however, is where the good stopped. I paid $7 for a handful of cold, dry chicken on a plain, slightly crusty bun. No sauce, no cheese, no pickles--just chicken on a bun. And a tiny little 3oz cup of coleslaw. The coleslaw was good. A little juicy for my taste but I like it that way. There were paper towels and 3 different flavored BBQ sauces on the table, I appreciate that. I smothered this thing in their sweet BBQ. It helped a little but not much. I mainly ate the middle of the sandwich and the coleslaw. Didn't care for the rest. The other 2 guests in my party ordered the loaded baked potato with a meat or two. Burnt ends and pulled pork. The burnt ends were mediocre, a little too much sauce. Perhaps they were cooked or simmered in the sauce. The pulled pork had an orange color to it and just wasn't very tasty. The baked potato however was pretty delicious. Probably one of the better ones I've had in a while, if ever. It was cheesy, buttery, and even the skin was delicious. All in all, I have to give only 2 stars. Wait staff was attentive and asked about our food/visit and while they didn't seek a manager to right our issues, we didn't ask them to. The atmosphere was nice and clean but the quality of the food was lacking. I don't live in Carthage, I don't go often, but I don't think I'll be going back to this establishment any time soon. read more

I was recommended this restaurant by the hotel I was staying at and I was not disappointed. I am a brisket snob but I ordered it anyway and ranks at or near the very top of best brisket I have ever had. Plenty of food and a good price. Workers are very friendly and helpful. Brisket looked and tasted like they had just cut it off the cow and microwaved or boiled it. No flavor and the texture was that of RAW meat. Will NOT be back. Was asked if we wanted fatty or lean brisket. Ordered lean and half of each strip was fatty. We asked for a refund and the woman's response was "since you ordered it, we will only give you half back." What???? What kind of customer service is that? We are almost home now and feeling sick. Awesome place. The huge pulled pork sandwich is bomb-ass. Put their coleslaw on top and that's some amazeballz goodness. Only thing is their sides are bland. The stuff is obviously sitting in tubs and warmed up. But still the best sandwiches. Meatballs are some awesome tasty stuff too. read more

Fantastic! Brisket so good you don't even need any sauce! I sampled the chicken and it was perfection too. My daughter loved the hot sauce. I have heard fantastic things about the BBQ spaghetti too. A must try if you are in Carthage. Worth the trip from Joplin for sure. read more

First time visit . We asked chad from liberty tree gun shop were to get some good bbq at and he sent us here. I got the pulled pork and a loaded bake potato with brisket as the meat on it. WOW is all i can say! We will be back! Best bbq i have had from any restaurant in a long time! We will be back!!!! Love the variety of bbq sauce they leave on the table - hot-mild-and sweet. This is an update from about a year ago. I have had the opportunity to eat here a couple of times and still find the pork as something to avoid. But today I tried the burnt ends and cannot praise it enough. Excellent taste, sauce was a little sweeter than I like but very tasty and did not detract from the meat. Its about 50/50 the drive thru will get your order correct. You have to make a request to get a reciept and this apparently offends them. When you call and explain your order was wrong you are out of luck without your reciept. Its a shame really. There is a noticeable decline in basic service and food quality. Dont know what has changed or happened but it is not the same as it used to be. The parking lot and drive thru traffic shows others must have similar experiences. read more

They recently expanded their dining area so it's very spacious and nice. It is a little odd that there are no windows in the new dining area, but it has a cozy rustic feel so I don't mind.
