First time at this buffet. Place was packed so we just knew we were in for a treat. Friends had been there before and told us about it. The rolls were hot right out of the oven, light and fluffy almost like a krispy cream donut without the frosting. Waitress came around fast for refills on our drinks. I really liked the fried chicken. The batter was light yet crispy. Really good! They had ham as well and that was good too. Pretty good size buffet. Lots of veggies to choose from as well as hot dishes. You could find something even if you were picky. The Mac and cheese has to be mentioned it was no box mix! Just like Mom made , cheesy goodness!! When your done eating they had a peach cobbler that looked homemade as well as ice cream in a machine, no fake ice cream either! Creamy and delicious!! First, the name changed to Pops BBQ. The menu has a variety of items: my first plate, I got a piece of fried pork chop, a fried chicken thigh, mashed potatoes with brown gravy, pinto beans, and green beans. Both the chop and thigh were overcooked. The pinto and green beans were good. This round gets a 6 out of 10. My next plate consists of fried flounder, baked chicken , white rice with white gravy, and cabbage. The flounder was good and hot. The chicken was a little undercooked and lacked seasoning. The cabbage was good. My aunt was right about rice; it wasn't even close to being done. This round, I give a 5 out of 10, mainly because of the rice. And last of all, their fatback was way too salty!!! And I love me some fatback. Overall, I give Pops 2 STARS with the potential to get better. read more

Food seemed to be good. It looked and tasted great. Service could use improvement. Restaurant appearance was decent. My husband and I have NO PLANS TO RETURN we both were sick to our stomachs after eating here. We had some of the same foods. read more

Just recently moved to Clinton and everyone was saying you had to go there. I'm new to the country cooking, (originally from New England) and lemme say..this was awesome. The staff was very pleasant and talkative, the cook/chef came out and talked with everyone at their tables, the waitress we had was real friendly..I'll definitely be going back. Side note....I never had collard greens before, waitress said "put a couple pieces on the plate and try it hun"...where was this stuff all my life? On a long trip 7 of us 5 kids 2 adults hungry, tired, whiny, stopped to get something to eat once well pulled in we regretted are decision to eat at Big Boys We were walking up to the buffet it looked like it was like its abandoned no cars a outside porch light flickering and the doors broken worst experience ever! We walked in smelled like Smoke Stuff was burning in the background people were not kind at all did not welcome us in it was like we were entering a prison. The food was cold the plates were not clean the Mac-N-Cheese tasted like Play-Dough and Clay!!! Oh my goodness! I rarely eat fried chicken but I did today and it was the best I have ever had! I wish I could record the crunchy sound of biting into it! Not greasy at all! The chicken, mac and cheese, slaw, cobbler and ice cream and good sweet tea make for a very satisfying meal on our way home from the beach. Service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is a simple, down-home buffet. The food is seasoned just right for this picky eater. The bbq pork and beef ribs were smoky and flavorful. (Yayy) I asked and was told it was my choice and then that person went over and alerted other servers of what I said. So People if someone walks in after cleaning out the stables, the toilet, wiping snot with their hands, or has diarrhea, they are touching the same utensils you are AND they don't require you to wear a mask. So no mask, no handwashing .. It ain't about Covid! it's about germs and this one is brutal, it may Kill your grandparents and other love ones! Covid like any other germ, you can't see it! So, What's wrong with being careful so you can talk to and go visit with your family and friends instead of looking through photos and reading about them? I don't know where to even begin. First off there weren't any safety procedures being Enforced in this restaurant. Not even half of the employees were wearing mask. The food tasted horrible like it had been sitting out for hours. The Mac and cheese was watered down, the chicken was dry, the mashed potatoes tasted like it came straight out of a pack from the BI-LO down the street. Not to mention the group of employees sitting out in the parking lot smoking as we were walking in. The best part about the whole experience was the water.
