This place is categorized under bbq but I'm going to call it soul food based on what the options were the day we were there for lunch. It was a Wednesday we had the choice between fried chicken (every day) or turkey & dressing. Everything else on the buffet was awesome. Mac & cheese was homemade, green beans yum, fried okra, cream corn, corn bread, cucumber salad etc!!! BF said collard greens were the best he has ever had. Sweet potatoes just right with marshmallows, sweet & hot. Dessert was banana pudding with banana wafers! Sweet tea is on point. Water costs $.25 just FYI. I took quite a few pictures including price, menu's, interior & exterior because I think more people should know about this place & drive out of their way to go! Lunch buffet was $7.75 per person. I think this place could be ok if it wasn't so extremely dirty, and the owner lady didn't have such a bad attitude! Food is "ok" , but definitely not great. What an awesome restaurant! We just left Charleston/Folly Beach and this was without a doubt the best food we had all week! And at a price of $7.95! We had fried chicken, turkey/dressing/gravy, fried pork chop - all homemade & delicious! Desserts included in buffet: key lime pie, banana pudding, peach cobbler, chocolate cake/chocolate icing - all homemade! The owners were a very friendly married couple that make all the food themselves and they seemed to enjoy talking with their customers. If you're in the area, be sure to stop by, you won't be disappointed. And if you have Dr. Enuf in your area, be sure to take them a case - or two! Large tall waitress was not friendly. We had to ask four times for our tea. Only one of us ever got a refill. Breakfast food on hot bar was not hot. Water pooling in the hash, hard scrambled eggs, bacon deep fried and hard as bricks, sausages were undercooked but had been in the deep fryer too. Fried bologna was deep fried and had hot sauce coating. Grits was crunchy and greasy margarine in them. Biscuits were frozen and baked, not homemade. Gravy had lumps and was clearly a package black pepper gravy you buy in store, not homemade. Fst back was deep fried too and just as greasy. We could not eat the cold greasy food. That waitress was rude! Spoke to men and people of color, ignored all the rest of us. We will never go back. read more

The Soul Food buffet table looks small but it features all types of food from grilled, fried, stewed, salads, deserts and several fixings. They even use styrofoam plates which made us feel like we were eating at a relatives house. I tried everything on the buffet and every item was tasty and the appropriate temperature. We met there today for my husbands birthday. My daughter fell on the greasy floor and hit her knee really hard. Neither one of the owners came over to see if she was okay. As we came around from the Buffett I told both of them that the floor was slick and they should put a rug down. The man said "that floor ain't slick it's probably her shoes ". Not , "is she ok or yes we will definitely take care of that" . After we ate, my husband told the lady owner that she should write down our daughters name and phone number in case she has to see a doctor. Again - not a caring word came out of her mouth. No "Hope she's ok". Or "we are so sorry this happened ". We had been repeat customers but never again !!!! They were indifferent and rude. They better Hope she doesn't have a serious injury. I worked with the public for 36 years and I can't believe they continue to stay in business when they obviously don't care about their customers. Some sides are very simple but they are surrounded by tender, light biscuits, cornbread muffins, homemade baked mac and cheese, corn relish, potato salad from scratch, many salads from scratch, summer squash, and the fried chicken, fried chicken livers, country steak and gravy were worth the drive from Chicago!
