Stopped here as I was passing through town working. I noticed quite a few people inside so I figured I would give it a try. Upon entry the customer service was excellent. They specialize in chicken but also had catfish and burgers. I decided to try the catfish fingers(6) with fries and a sweet tea(9.35). I also wanted to try the chicken so I got a 4 piece(9.35). Fries were good and crispy as well as the chicken. The catfish was a little on the salty side and fried in cornmeal. Overall it was a ice experience and I will go back. My husband and I were looking for something to eat and were hoping to skip the chain establishments. We remembered there was a small place we had visited and liked in Monticello about five years ago. We hesitated because it was almost an hour away but decided to just take a ride. The staff were super nice and inviting and the restaurant was updated and really clean. We each ordered one of the specials, three pieces of chicken, fries and a soda for less than $10 each. It was delicious and fried to perfection. It's a little out of the way, but well worth the drive. read more

We came in and the workers acted like it was a burden for us to be there. Took about 20 minutes on our food only for the fries to taste like they were genuinely made 4 hours ago. The workers were rude and ignoring customers at the counter when they weren't even busy with orders. Overall bad vibes and poor service. read more

I walked into the restaurant at 8:25 knowing they close at 9 PM. I asked the cashier for chicken wings, which is what I would normally get when I come to this restaurant. She informed me that they are no longer cooking for the night and will be closing soon. read more

Typically 4 stars is the highest for seat yourself restaurants to me. However Big Chic brings back hometown feelings. Really friendly and helpful staff. My family and I ordered various meals and enjoyed them all. Chicken livers were made fresh to order and took around 10 minutes to come out. Really enjoyed the fried okra and tea. It is good as long as they do not give you chicken that has been under the pile all durn day that has the grease drippings from the other chicken. Now that I could not stand. I hear they sell boxes of food for cheap upon closing. I think that's a really good idea. Maybe those are the pieces of chicken you should save for those boxes. Years ago big chics used to have the best chef salads. I dont see them advertised anymore. read more

I had the catfish dinner and the fish was greasy, the Cole slaw bitter, the hush puppies were raw inside, and the fries were just bits and pieces. will never drive there again as I can get chicken closer to my house. new owner should listen to staff and make changes or they will never make it. read more
