We got there a few minutes after they opened and got sat immediately. There were roses on the table from Valentine's Day the night before and I loved that! We each chose a fun cocktail and they came out quickly and were delicious. The pimento cheese dip was interesting; I wouldn't get it again, but we were starving and ate it. We come here quite often and I can say we have never been let down. This time we came on a Saturday around 2pm so it was a little bit of an off schedule time which worked out for us. The server was on it and we never wanted for anything. We tried some of their seasonal adult beverages and even had the bartender come out and suggest some of her favorite old fashioned recipes. We had raw oyster and they were nice size and just what we were looking for. We had a pasta dish that used bow tie noodles, steak and cheese. I was surprised at how good it was. This place was amazing! We got there around 5:40 on a Saturday night and the place was packed out with people waiting outside. When we checked in they told us it would be about 40 mins but it turned out we only had to wait around 20 mins. My wife ordered a drink and said it was delicious and strong. We also had some hot honey smoked wings and they were amazing! Service was great. Everyone worked as a team. Different people would bring your food or top off your drinks. We had the shrimp and grits, brisket sandwich and the blackened chicken. Everything was amazing! The Mac and cheese wasn't the greatest but everything else was some of the best I've ever had! Wife had blackened salmon with Gouda grits and green beans. She reports excellent temperatures, flavors, and textures. Exactly as should be. I had the ribeye with Gouda grits and mashed potatoes. The order of medium rare was simply perfect; the Gouda grits were perfect, the mashed potatoes had a touch too much salt, but wasn't bad at all. They were good but small. So then we waited, waited and waited for the meal. People at an adjacent table that came in after us got their meals before us. This always aggravates me. We have been at Yahola Creek a few times and the food, service and ambience is consistent. We had a party of 10 today, and everybody thoroughly enjoyed their meal. My wife claims that they truly have the best grits in the south which they Infuse with Gouda cheese. After being intrigued by the specials menu my son and I decided to give Yahola a try. I will say we were not disappointed. The beer was ice cold and the manhattan was fantastic. I had the brisket melt which was very flavorful and way too big. I took half of it home. My son had the shrimp and grits which were fantastic. First time visit. Waited half an hour to be seated. Was seated at a high top table for dinner. Immediately uncomfortable, as the table was surrounded by lots of people loitering around the bar as they waited for their tables. People were standing close enough that their spittle would land in my food when talking and my "chair" (really more of a stump from a tree that was ridiculously heavy, huge, and severely uncomfortable- would not pull up to the table far enough because of its depth) kept getting bumped as we were eating our appetizers. Asked to be moved to a table immediately after ordering appetizers, then again after ordering steak and lobster. We had only been seated for about fifteen minutes total. Was told that moving wouldn't be possible because other parties were larger than ours, so we needed to stay at the high top. Others around us of same party size were seated at tables. No one ever asked us if we minded sitting in the bar at a high top. First sign that our comfort wasn't considered at all. Pleaded patiently and kindly to be moved. Refused. Asked for a manager's consideration. Denied. Paid for our appetizers and left. This establishment 100% puts profits before people. It was all about seating the most people possible... no matter the experience they are providing. Our meal was going to cost over $200 when all was said and done. A manager never even came to speak to us. Server apologized profusely, manager didn't give a damn, as we were walking out when she exited the kitchen and she made no attempt to speak with us. We will never return. We were so disappointed, because we had heard nice things about this place and its food. They are thriving now because they have no competition. There are no other restaurants like them anywhere nearby. Let one open who actually cares about the experience they are providing their guests as much as they care about the food, and Yahola Creek will be history. There is a lovely Rose Garden our back with pristine walking paths and busts and statues dotting it. We ordered from the specials menu a starter of fish dip and were not into it, the waitress was very sweet and took it back and suggested the pimento cheese dip instead and it was delicious!
