One tiny dollop of sauce on all of them, one tiny piece of avocado on "the big cali", the "dirty fries" had little to no cheese and no chili. You DO NOT get a drink with your order. And the chicken is "ok", save yourself the mortgage payment that you have to pay here and go to any of the other chicken places we have in Lubbock instead. Pricey, but you get what you pay for. The meat is juicy, fries are perfectly crisped and seasoned, the drinks are great and the staff are always coming around to ask if you need sauces or drink refills. The chicken is all-natural, cage free, and honestly even a step up from Popeyes or chickfila. Plus, the huge four combined TV matrix is great for watching games. Shaq's Big Chicken just opened last week. It was crowded but not enough to avoid the wait. The atmosphere is great. Huge TV's and friendly staff everywhere. We had the Shaq Attack, the Original Big Chicken, the 5 tender combo, Dirty Fries and crinkle fries. The Shaq Attack was the star, with jalapeño slaw and excellent barbecue sauce. The sandwich had a great flavor, and will be the favorite of many. The Original was also very good. It's pretty simple, just sauce and pickles on a brioche bun. The tenders were just that, very tender with a little spice and lots of flavor. The dirty fries have cheese sauce, bacon and banana peppers. It's a great combo with loads of flavor. I came a little after 1 for a late lunch. The place was dead which was surprising since it's in a busy part of town. The cashier was polite, and took our order quickly. Since there was no one there it was pretty quiet and peaceful. The food was okay, definitely not worth the price though. The tenders were over breaded and the Mac and cheese was so dry. First impression upon walking in was a combination sports bar and fast food restaurant. Yes, they do have a full bar, which is not something you see everyday in fast food. Ordered the Shaq Attack sandwich. Was it as good as a Chic-Fil-A sandwich? No, it was not. Not as thick as a CFLA chicken breast, and not seasoned as well. Fries were good. BBQ sauce on the sandwich wasn't bad, but just tasted like everyday bottled sauce. I'd give the sandwich overall a grade of B-minus. Not bad, but not going to dethrone CFLA or Popeyes. Needs to be larger, needs to have more flavor, IMO. When I walked into BIG CHICKEN, I expected bigger chicken. Now the real Achilles heel of the place... pricing. A sandwich, fries, and a smaller drink was almost $15. Was not offered any other sauces. Apparently, they charge for them. Only given two ketchup packets. Look, for these prices, extra stuff should be included. There are sit down restaurants in town that I can get a full meal with salad for the same pricing. Hoping they adjust things a bit. Let me start with the good...the service seems good as most staff genuinely seemed like they enjoyed their work and were trying to be helpful. Now the meh... it comes off like a Macdonald's sized Buffalo Wild Wings want to be. They have a sit down bar and lots of sports on tv, but it's all in the size of a typical fast food place like Taco Bell or Macdonald's. It just seemed odd. Now the wish it was better... the cost of the food here seems slightly overpriced. Then when you get your food and realize the only thing "big" about the place is the price, certainly not the sandwiches (expect chick-fil-a sized sandwich) just left me wondering who would choose this place over similar competition like a Popeyes chicken sandwich (literally just down the road) or KFC who's almost giant sandwich is almost identical to Popeyes and only costs $5. I just moved to Lubbock not too long ago and seen this place filled with a line on multiple occasions. From the look of the restaurant I knew it wasn't going to be a "value meal" so I held off. Well today I finally gotten the famous 'Big Chicken'! Looking at the drive thru menu I was a bit surprised at the PRICES. You need at least a $20 bill to be safe and feed only yourself. Fine. It's Big Chicken. Im sure I'm going to be getting what I payed for. That was not the case. I would say I'm an average size person of average height. But this sandwich was below average size. Shocking to say the least. I got the Jerome because my gf wanted a nibble but after seeing the sandwich, a nibble might just be half my meal. Needless to say I am disappointed. The price was $15-16 for a standard #3 meal. No extras, no frills. Still hungry. The sandwich isn't "bad" it's okay tasting. I wouldn't mind having another. What I DO mind is having to pay another $10+ to make that happen (a la carte). An average tasting sandwich, of a below average size, at a very above average price. read more

At last, the long awaited Big Chicken from Shaq made its way to the LBK! Being born and raised in West Texas, Lubbock is no stranger to the Permian Basin especially since it has way more variety of shops and eats so my wife and I made a day of it and decided to try Big Chicken! The outward appearance is unique stands out from the other restaurants along Milwaukee however inside the open layout and bar created a unique atmosphere for a fast food style restaurant! You go inside to the counter and take your order then pay and the food is then delivered to your table! To my surprise they serve Stubs Root Beer soda along with Pepsi products for soft drinks. The menu ranges from popcorn chicken, chicken tenders and chicken sandwiches as well as shakes and a couple desert options. My wife ordered the Uncle Jerome's Nashville Chicken Sandwich, the chicken patty was thinner than mine however the sauce used was great and I ordered the Ultimate Sandwich included a thick chicken breast breaded topped with Mac and cheese and fried onions (like onion straws) which was packed with flavor! Pair it with their house sauce (similar to Cane) what I hear and dip with fries made for a great lunch! Overall great chicken sandwiches, atmosphere and friendly staff, I'll be sure and recommend it to my fellow West Texans to give it a try! Y'all... I didn't even take pics this time! I hate to give a bad review, because when Big Chicken is firing on all cylinders, it is really good, (if you ignore the price). When they are off even a little, the price difference makes you not want to come back. We have been 4 times total, so this review kinda takes all 4 into consideration. Last night might have been the last for us. Usually we comment on how high the prices are, but still enjoy the food, and they refill our drinks so often, and are so nice, that you almost forget the heavy hit to your bank account (Think Rosa's but with just chicken sandwiches and sides). If I really like the food then I don't feel like it is a horrible trade for the money. On this trip my Shaq Attack with a side of Mac and cheese came out first. My wife graciously said for me to start without her since she didn't want my food not get cold... Yep, she is a keeper! She would get more than 5 stars if Yelp allowed it! Anyway... back to the food. My mack and cheese got the first bite as usual but it was just barely warm! Not sure where the laws of physics stopped on this occasion but the mac and cheese looked correct and the texture was just right (not runny and still a little sticky). But it was just barely warm, which normally starts the process of the mac getting huddled up together with the cheese, which requires distinct cuts and prying to get it out of the cup. I have had the mac and cheese every trip, and it had been great until this time. The Shaq Attack is my favorite sandwich here, and is usually hot with the cheese melted. This time it was what I would consider cold and not even warm! The slice of pepper jack cheese (normally melty and oh so delicious) was standing out to the sides of the sandwich in a perfect square shape like a Wendy's beef patty! I really couldn't tell a temperature difference between the cold (cole) slaw and any of the other ingredients! I left my sammie and mac and cheese partially eaten on my tray till my wife got her order, since it didn't make a difference if it got even colder (not sure that was even possible at this point). My wife got her food about 5 minutes later and an apology was provided! They are very nice, as stated earlier in this review! Her original combo was nice and hot, and the fries were nearly untouchable for a good while. The we had our drinks refilled once even though the restaurant was almost empty which is out of the norm. Usually we are having to say no thank you after the third or fourth offer to refill them. We knew the prices were high for what you get but when they are fully on their game you can forgive it for the most part. When they are off... even by a little... it can drive customers into the waiting arms of your Popeyes or your Chick-fil-A (My pleasure!). Or even to Rosa's which we wrestle with the same dilemma of price vs. value. I will be surprised if this establishment can survive the current business model. It is a nice, clean, restaurant. And I challenge you to find a cleaner restroom anywhere! But sadly I am pretty sure we are done... read more

While the food is good here, it's very pricey! Drinks cost extra, about $3 each. I have diabetes and cannot eat potatoes. I also must limit my intake of portion size. I requested a child meal but it Must come with fries and Cannot be substituted with coleslaw (according to servers). I had to buy a larger meal, with fries, in order to get coleslaw. Finally there was no line at big chicken. I ordered the Shaq Attack and was so disappointed. First, it isn't as big as they claim, second the bun is cold, third it tasted like old oil. My wife got the chicken sandwich with onion rings and mac n cheese and they forgot the Mac n cheese. They brought her a side of it though. She ate 4 bites and left the rest. All in all good experience on opening day. Workers in the kitchen and front were working very hard it was definitely a busy day for them! Everything was made to order and very hot and fresh. Sauces were my biggest complaint. Very small amount (1oz cups) and they are $.50 each! Crazy considering the sandwich is ~$9 each and fries are almost $4 each. The runner that brought our food to the table grabbed us a few extra for free (thankfully) Coors Light was $6 would love it if the glasses were frozen Our food meal was $42 + tax, asked for tip, plus beer in total we spent $54 for everything pictured. The place is bright and new, feels very open. The menu is busy and gives no explanation of what comes in a combo versus what will be an upcharge. Based on my conversation with the cashier, everything but the fries is probably an upcharge. A sign at the register says that you get two sauces with popcorn chicken, but the cashier tried to charge me extra until I pointed it out. The popcorn chicken is thigh meat chunks, which I love as a concept, but the execution was lots of tiny bits of mostly cornmeal, catfish batter. And those two sauces... one was only filled 1/4 of the way up the cup. I went ahead and sprung for the Dirty Fries (can't be cheap when trying something new, right?) but was disappointed. The toppings are only on the top layer, so there are plain fries underneath, and their cheese sauce tastes powdery, like it came from a bad gravy mix. Their soda choices are very limited (but does include Dr. Pepper). I spent almost $20 on the Big popcorn chicken combo with dirty fries - more than double my usual lunchtime spend, and was generally unimpressed. Me, my wife and little girl went and ate on their opening day. The managers and employees were very friendly and attentive. The decor and environment was good. Like e the other person said almost like a sports bar. Lets get to the food. I had the Shaq chicken sandwich combo. My wife had the regular chicken sandwich combo and my had the chicken strips meal. No one spoke to me on the box for over 10 minutes and there was only 1 person in the drive thru so I pulled up to behind them. The strips were pretty small, but they were juicy and tender, tasted good. The fries were blah, no flavor, no seasoning. The chicken sandwich was meh. It tasted ok, low on seasoning, the size was fairly small. We spent $45 for 3 people. 2 sandwich meals, plains fries, soda, the 3rd meal was 3 tenders. If I got those same meals at, for example, Cane's, it would be the same price but more flavorful and larger portions. read more

I was very surprised how good the food and service was during my visit. I've only been once which was today but the food is absolutely amazing and the service was very good as well. They were super friendly & helpful before, during & after our meal. They got us refills for us during our meal, took our trash and refilled our drinks again before we left without having to be asked. 10/10 will definitely be back and I suggest you give it a shot.
