The carpet was stained, our bedding was stained, the wallpaper was peeling off, dirt and grime had gathered in the corners, and there was toothpaste or cleaning spray all over the bathroom mirror and sink. My side of the bed was caving in, so when I laid on my left side I rolled a bit, which makes me think maybe the mattresses need to be replaced. I will say, the pillows were comfy! That evening we ate at the restaurant where we ordered off the menu. I ordered The Falls Burger, which is your basic cheeseburger with the usual toppings - lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, and your choice of cheese. The burger tasted like it was previously frozen, but the fries were delicious! Our waitress, McKenzie, was incredible! She was attentive and friendly and deserves recognition! We ended up back at the lodge restaurant the following evening where they were serving a buffet dinner only, no option to order off the menu. McKenzie was great once again, but unfortunately, the food was not. The buffet consisted of soup, salad, mac-n-cheese, rolls, yellow rice, black eyed peas, BBQ chicken, catfish, carrot cake, pumpkin pie, and apple pie. All of the items I ate were cold and just mediocre. You can imagine my surprise when I saw the $46 bill - $27.99 for an adult and $15.99 for a child. Absurd for the lack of options and for the cold food. (Keep in mind that the closest towns with good dining options are at least 30 mins away.) During nice weather the falls are gorgeous to hike up to and the park is fun to explore, but take note if you have children with you and the weather isn't great, there's not much for them to do. The park itself is beautiful and well worth a trip! And I truly believe the lodge could be brought back to life with a few changes.

The biscuits with the jam available on the table were amazing! The kids enjoyed their kids meal as well. If in Athens again we would definitely get the chicken and biscuit but skip the other items we previously ordered.

I was a worker at Joe and Sams, everything was going great until one of the "bosses" named Wade started verbally harassing the workers. This created a toxic environment in the establishment and no one gets respected as they should. Personally this guy shouldn't deserve to even own an establishment mainly because of his way of treating staff. You might as well go somewhere else because people like this do not deserve your money. read more

We shared a fabulous pastrami sandwich with pickled beets, Gouda, and arugula and a cup of the freshest, crispest, most flavorful watermelon gazpacho I have ever had. I think I might be ruined. The staff were friendly and helpful. On the inside is a very large shared dining table which seems to be a fun place to gather. The menu is inventive for lunch and the food is well prepared. I will return when back in Athens and highly recommend.

Thirty minutes later, a $267 tea kettle is rattling around my trunk. No box, no paperwork, nothing. The salesperson handed me the bag without saying anything!! Any reputable business would let you know the situation, perhaps offer a discount, and give you a choice about whether you still wanted the item. I returned the item and will never be back again. When this business goes down, they will only have their own questionable business practices and poor customer service to blame. (btw, their breakfasts are super oily and disgusting)
