I went to the Big City Optical on December 12 for a long overdue eye exam and a new lens prescription. They accommodated my walk in appointment request with no problem Dr. Lee, the optometrist who examined me, was very thorough, very patient, and very accommodating to me both during and after the exam, answering questions about one thing or another. She was WONDERFUL. However, this is where things fall apart. When I placed my order, I was told 'two weeks', which would have meant my glasses would have been available on December 26. I went to the office to check on my glasses, only to be told that, due to the holiday and COVID, the would be delayed another week. Not happy, but OK. On January 4, a full three weeks AFTER I originally had my exam and one week after the delivery date I was originally given, I received a call from the store's assistant manager, informing me that my glasses had not passed the inspection at the lab. Furthermore, they could not tell me when I could reasonably expect my glasses. The manager continued to hide behind the holidays and COVID as reasons for this delay. NOT ACCEPTABLE. Holidays and COVID are no reason why a pair of glasses should not pass final inspection. Would NEVER go back to this store and would NOT recommend them to anyone looking for new glasses or lenses. As a general statement, I try to avoid large chains - e.g. LensCrafters, etc. - as they treat you like a piece of meat, but at least they deliver. read more

This opened down the block from my apartment so when I needed a new optometrist it was a no-brainer to try them out. The guys are wonderful and made the whole process of getting new glasses and contacts a breeze, and the optometrist was fabulous. I highly recommend checking them out the next time you need new glasses, contacts, or even just an eye exam. read more

I needed to order glasses during Illinois' stay at home order but am also immunocomprimised. Chuck worked with me to order glasses over the internet by making recommendations and sending pictures. He even worked with me to find the best way of measuring my face for the glasses without me having to come into the store. Great customer service read more

My husband list one if the little nose pads in his glasses so we went here to see if they could fix them. Not only did they fix the one, they replaced the other at no charge. Wonderful staff both reception and Optometrists. Knowledgeable, patient, friendly, and thorough. Vast frame selection, quick turn around time, flexibility in payment/ insurance plans. After not visiting an eye doctor for 7 years, I stopped by the Broadway location of Big City Optical a few weeks ago for an eye exam and new pair of glasses. Arranging an appointment was super easy with their online scheduling option. I was also really happy that they are open on Sundays, unlike many places. The clinical staff along with Chuck and Tony up front made it such an enjoyable experience! The visit was quick, but I never felt rushed. They even offered tips on taking the best selfie for soliciting friends' and family's second opinions! Great experience at BCO! Eye exam was efficient and thorough and despite my best attempts at restraint on frames, Chuck found the perfect fresh new look that I couldn't resist. Can't wait to get them back and take em out on the town. Excellent service. I went in for an eye exam and the doctor was super thorough and professional. I decided to just replace my current glasses with new lenses instead of getting a new pair and it was so refreshing to not have a pushy sales person try to encourage me otherwise. The turnaround on the new lenses was less than a week, and they even gave me a new Tory Burch glasses case even though I just kept my original pair. We had a great experience here! My husband and I were concerned that we couldn't find our vision insurance cards- we only knew the name of the insurer. We entered this information when making the appointment online and when we got there they had all of our plan and benefits information pulled already! We were seen for our appointments as soon as we walked in. The doctor was extremely knowledgeable and thorough in our exams. He answered all of our questions and took time to interpret and explain the results of the exam. This is an update on my original review after my disappointment with my original glasses. All I can say is WOW. My original glasses were mailed to me, and they just weren't right, and, unfortunately, due to COVID-19, it was impossible for me to go back to the store to have them fixed. After posting about my experience, Megan, the district manager, reached out to me to make things right. She had me ship my glasses back and jumped through hoops to, and I really don't even know how she did this without my being there, fix them. Not only were they better, these are the best glasses I have ever had. I am AMAZED, baffled really. A true testament to customer service is not how great everything always is, but rather what a company, and especially the people in the company, do when something goes wrong. Megan truly went above and beyond, and to say I am impressed and grateful would be an understatement. Kudos to Big City Optical and especially Megan, who truly made this a memorable experience (and during a PANDEMIC no less!) I am truly impressed. Wow. read more
