Raul was called as one of the businesses to discuss rebuilding a 283 CI V8 in a 69 C Chevy…read more In picking up the vehicle, after Raul told me it was ready. I only made it out of town 20 miles and it quit running, so I pulled over, stopped, and towed it home. This started an expensive fix in which Raul stated my warranty was in place but he wouldn't cover the problem that came up. The problem was that the number two exhaust rocker stud pulled out enough to have the rocker move aside. In summary I found that the number 6 spark plug was not tightened in place. Also the intake bolts which were to discussed to move to all number M8, I found that the intakes had 11 M8, and one M10. I found that one of the holes between number 3 and 5 was drilled in error, and a M10 put in place, because the ship and sailed for a M8 and now an M10 to fix the error. Raul converted to me that all I intake bolts were M8 size and never made mention of this mistake that would cause all the holes to go to M10. What Raul refused to do was fix the head because of the rocker stud pulling out so I in turn with a disability severe pain and the difficulty to even get up in the morning was now my responsibility to try and do this myself because I have limited funds and saved for years to get this done. I had to service each boss, and drill and pin all of them to avoid future breakdowns. I was able to pound the number two exhaust rocker stud back into the boss, and drill and pin that as well. When I picked up the truck, I found it odd to have one intake bolt an Allen bolt,and all the other intake bolts, standard socket head. After taking the intake off, the aforementioned, I found that I had M8 on all intake bolt holes, but one of them for the number four cylinder that was loose, and another was an M10, aforementioned between 3 and 5 cylinders. The M10 shows evidence of being drilled and then stuffed with an oversized bolt to hide their mistake. This wasn't obvious until after the intake was taken off. I discussed and mentioned that I was changing all the intakes from 3/8 to M8 originally, aforementioned, and Raul stated clear understanding. I explained for his understanding that intake bolts being 3/8" to a M8, after mentioned, is only a couple of thousands and you complete service without drilling, and using a M8 tap directly into the 3/8 holes that were being fixed. This was clearly mentioned to Raul. I'm sure he was aware of this and did he decided not to fix this, hide it, and aforementioned, he told me, sincerely and without a doubt, All intake bolts were updated to M8 and found to be a lie. It's still usable but you can't drill out those holes and more and and this limits the surface life of this block. And not giving a warranty to this head problem such as a pulled rocker stud, based on my discussions with other, professionals, business people, and friends, who believed strongly that he should have warrantied this. Travel time, wear and tear, gas, and time. I mentioned to him that I had severe back trouble and for him to treat me like this is just wrong. I relied on friends and family to help with this and it's taken forever to get this done because I can't just have everybody come help me every moment that I need them to get anything accomplished on this. A good amount of time has passed, and that time cannot be recovered. I'm out time, the cost of drill bits that are hardened,and pins. A gasket set, and bolts which have to be zinc hardened, and must be M10 1.5 by 30 to 33 mm which are about a hundred bucks. I wondered why, when I picked it up, he dropped the bill from 5900 to like 5200 and handed me back $700. I know he must have felt guilty, he could not tell me what the problems were, and he's been unprofessional to not warranty this and take care of the problem himself. So if Raul does good jobs for a lot of people he fell short with me and this is why I'm leaving this note because I want people to be aware that this happened and that he's allowed me to have pain suffering monetary loss and time that cannot be recovered, but instead he didn't care. I read the reviews before I came to him and saw some that were questionable but most were happy to have Raul do the work. I am trying to be nice, clear, and impactful for you to understand that directions that you give Raul may not always be followed, and any of those directions that he may hand out to his employees, well you know the risk, and if they screw up your block or miss a drill or tap, I would hope for a better outcome, but this report is to show how he did not help with a better outcome. You deserve this Raul and I hope you the best in the future because what I found shows deceit poor execution of instructions lying and failure to be professional in making a customer happy.

My last trip here was because my 13 month old dealer-purchased battery was failing, but since the battery was so new, I was paranoid that it was alternator or starter - or something, and paranoid about the dealer (There seems to be a lot of paranoia here. You're judging me, aren't you!?), so I wanted to have at least the alternator checked before going back to the dealer in case they said it was something more. Though they were busy, One Stop had me pull right up to the bay and tested the alternator on the spot, confirmed that it was the battery and only the battery, and that I should take it on back to the dealer for replacement under warranty. No charge.* My most immediate prior visit to One Stop was right after I went for some manner of routine service at the dealer, and the young service adviser came out with a $1700 laundry list of items to do. With that, I said I can't handle that today and I'll be back another time. I promptly departed, going straight to One Stop for a comparison quote. They performed everything essential on the dealer list PLUS a brake job for roughly 1/3 the dealer quoted price, and told me there were a couple things that wouldn't need consideration for another 10k miles or so. Other than the subsequent battery failure reported above, the car has continued to perform flawlessly. The only "problem" I've ever had with this shop is some confusion about where my keys were left hidden for me to pick up the car after closing one evening, and I think that was probably a matter of my misunderstanding the automotive anatomy. That, and the recommended tow company declining putting the tow job on the bill and requiring payment on the spot. Located in an old gas station of indeterminate brand, there's one or two seats in the small concrete-floored front office, so no real waiting room, but there are a number of places to cool your heels, appetite or thirst within easy walking distance there in "the Melrose District", that section of 7th Ave between Indian School & Camelback roads. *Side note: I took my Honda C-RV on to the dealer and they replaced the battery with no sales pitch for anything else and at no charge. Nice to have that service department open Saturday afternoon, but it was busy and turned into close to a 2 hour wait for them to replace the battery at the dealer.

I went in to have two mufflers welded on my Mustang. They were nice and got me in quick, however,…read morethe young guy cut off the original chrome tips without leaving any material to re-weld them on to the new mufflers, so then I had to order new chrome tips too. Grrr! I was going to have them weld the new tips on, but the work they already had done looked really rough. The mufflers welds looked very novice and the tail pipe cut was crooked, so I held off. Well, the weld for one muffler hanger broke in a month. I later discovered that they did not weld the mufflers on evenly, so had to cut the new tips to different lengths (at a new shop) so they would be even. The first question they asked me was if I welded the mufflers on myself because it looked like a home job. Cactus did cost less, but you get what you pay for.
