This is a different style of ice cream- it's very rich, and thick, and doesn't taste quite like any other ice cream I've had. The ice cream is extremely flavorful - the black raspberry really tastes like black raspberries, the coffee ice cream really tastes like coffee - and it's delicious. If you're an ice cream fan, you have to try this place out. The main thing is that you'll know you won't be getting ice cream from a frozen bin from a distributor; you can tell they make their own.

Some were, some weren't. But fortunately, Big Daddy's were! And to prove it, there was one helluva healthy line of customers waiting to get their frozen fix in a cup or a cone. They have around 50 ice cream flavors, plus some sorbets, sherberts, and yogurts. We were so intrigued by one of their flavors that we both ordered it. I mean, c'mon, when have you ever seen Banana Chocolate Chip on a menu? It was excellent. Smooth and creamy with a definite banana flavor and plenty of chocolate chips. A Kiddie portion was a pricey $6.95, but in all fairness, that Kiddie portion was equal in size to some of the "small" scoops we've had over the years at various ice cream joints. Big Daddy has four locations in the Wells, Ogunquit, and Kennebunkport area, so if you're up this way during the summer, you won't be too far from experiencing an experience with Big Daddy!

After waiting 30 + minutes we all left frustrated, unhappy, and dissatisfied with our ice cream. :(

I'm surprised I have not written a review for Annabelle's before as it is our favorite ice cream…read morespot in Portsmouth. There is usually a bit of a line, but we find it moves fast. The staff are always pleasant and serve up your order quickly. At some times they will make a window service line available as well. The shop has a great variety of flavors, and rotates a few seasonal options through. My favorite is Coconut during the summer. In the past it has been a bit of a unicorn flavor here, but this summer I've found it on my past 3 visits! My second choice is the Peanut Butter Fantasy. Prices seem to be on par for premium ice cream. They do accept credit cards as well. There are a few tables inside the shop if you care to sit and enjoy your ice cream inside. They have plenty of parking and a good sized menu of ice cream options. Sometimes an ice cream shop tries to be more than just an ice cream shop which can make a menu a confusing and overwhelming. Mrs & me focuses on what they do best, which is ice cream so I appreciate the straightforward menu and the tasty ice cream. The girls who work here are also super friendly and very helpful.
