After my last experience with a different bike shop, I wasn't sure If I should I keep my current E bike going with both the hydraulic brake rotors being the big problem. The efforts from Eddy, Matt, and the whole rest of the team from Big Dave's proved me wrong in a good way! The work done overall was expensive and somewhat inconvenient needing to go back the next day to get the brakes readjusted. However, after going to them on numerous other occasions and receiving good advice and results, I'm giving them five stars. In addition, the repair also spares me from contacting the bike manufacture to get approval for returning the bike. I can't fathom how pricey the shipping alone would be to send the bike back. read more

If you're looking for excellent customer service, this is the place to go. I called to see if they had a Trek Townie step through in stock. Matt let me know they had just sold two but thought there might be one in the back. He asked if I could come in, so I drove right over. The owner checked and found one still in the box. It was a different color than I thought I wanted, aloe vera with a brown seat and brown tires, but when he showed me a picture, I loved it immediately and bought it on the spot. They built it for me, and when I came back to pick it up, it was even cuter in person. I couldn't have been happier with it. I hadn't ridden a bike in over 20 years, and the team went out of their way to make sure I felt comfortable and confident from the time I bought it to when I rode it home. They patiently walked me through how everything worked and even gave me a little training before I left. They offer maintenance every 150 miles, which is a great perk. But what really stood out to me was how genuinely friendly and supportive everyone was. I had the biggest grin on my face riding home. It felt like being a kid again. I wanted to support a local business, but I deeply regret choosing this one. I brought my almost-new bike in for a simple tune-up. They later called to recommend replacing the brake pads and a tire. I agreed to the pads but specifically said not to replace the tire. When I picked up the bike, they had replaced the tire anyway. The new tire doesn't match the other one, which completely throws off the look of the bike. On top of that, I found two new scratches on the frame -- something I noticed immediately because I take very good care of it. What's most frustrating is the lack of accountability. Instead of listening to their customer, they did what they wanted and handed back a bike in worse shape than before. During the Covid 19 outbreak everyone had been looking for bikes so most shops were running low on their stock. I was looking for a specific BMX bike that no shop had in stock at the time so it became really frustrating. Well I figured I would check out Big Dave's which I am so glad I did. They have the place outside the entrance safed off which no one is allowed inside. When I got their at 11:30 they told me they only service bikes between 11:30-12 which was smart because a lot of people needed service during this time. Worth the wait, I figured only a half hour so I was looking inside from the outside and what do you know. They had 1 bmx bike that I had been looking for everywhere, it was meant to be. The guys here were really helpful and attentive so I'm glad I came here. I took it for a quick ride once they brought the bike out to me to check out. Once purchased they told me I get free basic maintenance on it so bring it in every month to make adjustments. I knew this was my go to place after that. So my parents live in Vacaville and I mentioned to them where I bought my bike. They ended up bringing both their bikes to Big Daves for service, it took about 2.5 weeks to get back because they are so busy but my parents were so happy with how their bikes came out. I brought my Brompton to the shop with an odd anomaly in the front tire--the bead was popping off the rim in one spot, about 3 inches worth. The mechanic graciously said he'd have a look, put my bike on repair stand and removed the wheel, and tire. The wire in the bead had popped out of the rubber altogether. What a great experience buying from Big Dave! We lucked out and ordered a Trek Merlin 5 that was on back order and Dave already had about 10 of them coming in. So all we had to do was put a $50 deposit down and then the bike came in like a month later. So nice at a time during COVID where it's taking sometimes up to a year to order a bike. The pick up experience (worked with Collin) was just as great. He added a couple customizations to the bike (water bottle Holder, new comfy seat, and some slime protectant inside wheel to prevent flats). The bike was brought in late November, with an estimate of a month to replace a wheel and perform a tube-up. It seemed lengthy for an off-season repair, but we agreed since my son would not need it until his holiday break. I called at the estimated time and was told it would be another few weeks (end of December), basically after when my son would need the bike. I was then called a few days later and told the updated estimate would likely be May. There was a part that was back-ordered. This would have been nice to understand upfront. The options I was offered at the time was to either wait, receive my bike back half-repaired, or just surrender the bike. I told them that none of those options was acceptable and I would check with my son to see what he wanted to do. I was called again a few days later being told that the bike was now finished. They figured "something" out. What? While the bike is back with us after its lengthy and expensive time-up, we have yet to ride it due to rain and now my son is back in classes. Basically, I can't even speak to the quality of the repair. However, based on the missed estimates and runaround, I would be hesitant to recommend Big Dave's bikes. read more
