I didn't know what to expect and I originally thought that the dessert I wanted to try was a doughnut. It was not - more of a harder pastry. It is filled with two scoops of ice cream - priced at about $14. Personally, I think it's a little overpriced for what you get. The pastry itself was cruncher than I thought and it tasted a little burnt - and for that price I would hope for more than two small scoops of ice cream. When my friend and I went in, we were the only customers - around 9 o'clock when they close at 10. The employee was friendly enough and confirmed the dessert we were interested in was definitely not a donut. We were really confused when we place our orders and he went to the janitor closet/room in the back for about 10 minutes and came out with the pastry and then put it in a small oven or some sort. We noticed he was wearing gloves but he was using his phone which really defeats the purpose of using gloves. I'd feel more confident that our food wasn't being contaminated if fresh gloves were being used. I'm sure it could be some people's go to, but I think it's just not my type of dessert - although, I did enjoy the ice cream.

Unfortunately it seems like their shops have taken a bit of a business drop given Rolled ice cream has become so popular as of lately. Anyways, I have been to this location twice now. Most recently, I went and got a Cookie Dough signature ice cream creation, and it was really good! Loved their cookie dough with chocolate fudge and caramel. I am glad I got the Like it size over the Love it, because I was definitely full at the end. I can't believe I use to get Gotta Have it (their largest size) regularly in high school! Plenty of parking available, and they are located in south New Brighton area. If you are a coupon fiend like me, you can sign up for their birthday rewards to get some deals close to your bday.

We enjoy going to Sonic to kind of "get out of the house" these days -- COVID, man -- and probably…read morego once or twice a month. My favorite things to order here are the pretzel (I skip the cheese dip) and any flavor slush. Just today I tried a fresh banana shake after watching a "Keith Eats Everything" video on youtube. Things I'm not crazy about are their potato products and Sonic cheeseburger. I'll review these below! Pretzel * do yourself a dang favor and go get one of these. Do you love soft pretzels or are you a soulless shell of a human being? These are probably my favorite thing on the menu. The pretzel comes in a lil State-Fair-esque paper bag and is a pair long, twisted rods of dough. It has a respectable amount of salt and a delicious sweet aftertaste. I don't like the cheese sauce because to me it's straight salt and fake cheese, but my husband likes the cheese. Do what you will with this info. But get the dang pretzel. Slush * I've gotten different flavors each time we go. The only bad thing about these is that I feel guilty for the styrofoam cups that Sonic uses. The slushes I've tried have all been great. Lemon, strawberry lemonade, I think I had a blue one?, lime, you get the idea. Yummmmm. I always get a brain freeze from these, you've been warned. Fresh Banana Shake * Right. I haaaaate fake banana flavoring. But after I watched the video I mentioned, I learned that Sonic blends a banana into the vanilla ice cream. I was hesitant because WHAT IF Minnesota Sonic is different from California Sonic and they gave me a fake banana shake???? My fears were soon gone as I tried to suction chunks of banana through the straw. Really really good. I'd get it without the cherry and whipped cream on top next time! Here are my gripes about Sonic: their potato stuff is never crisp. I am consistently disappointed by soggy, bad-tasting fries and tots. You'd think I'd learn! But no. I give potatoes endless amounts of chances. The Sonic cheeseburger I got could've been from McD's, or anywhere really, and it seemed like it was missing ketchup. Is that right? One last note is that we've only really gone during the pandemic and it's not always the fastest service. Buuuut you can't really hold them to that, and the people working there have always been kind to us. I'd recommend Sonic for slushes, ice cream, and pretzels. Get yourself a snack and drive around!

Tried Flamingo for ice cream near Moore Lake…read more The service was prompt and very polite. The ice cream seemed to have a low cream ratio as there were ice chunks in the ice cream flavors that we tried and very prevalent in the vanilla. The portions were very disappointing as we each requested a flight of three scoops for $6.25 for a flight. The scoops were so small that they were truly a taster amount. As can be seen in one of the photos, an entire scoop of ice cream fit on a plastic spoon. I was excited to try the unique flavors offered but the quality and pricing/serving size takes Flamingo off my list of go to ice cream shops.

They took what Grandpa's did, ran with it, and took it to a whole new level. And they're still one of a handful of places in the Twin Cities that actually makes their own ice cream. You really can't beat that for flavor and quality. All of the ice cream (and sorbet) is made in house with a small creamery in the back kitchen. They have a LOT of flavors, many of which are unique and one-of-a-kind. And they're constantly coming up with new varieties. In addition, they sell cookies, chocolates, and candies. They have beverages too. Not only does Flamingos have way more yummy choices than Grandpa's, their hours are longer, they're open more days of the week, and they're open way more days of the year. Stop in a check out Flamingos! Thumbs up! -Maxx

Thank goodness so I can appease my summery pregnant Blizzard cravings! We arrived at this location (off Central Ave, next to Heights Theater) after 8pm. You were not allowed to enter the building, but could place walk-up orders, even for cakes. The employees were wearing masks, and there were markers on the ground spacing 6ft between each patron. Signage stated that there could only be 2 people per household waiting in line. Good! We got some of the new limited time Blizzard flavors: Oreo Cheesecake, Drumstick, and Circus Animal Crackers. We wanted pretzels + cheese too but they said their cookers were shut down for the night. I loved all of the flavors, what's not to love?
