It just hits different. Cup and cone? It just hits different. Rich, creamy, milky, grade A soft serve. I'm a basic vanilla guy however I've tried other flavors and their dole whip. All fire. You can also dip your soft serve. On a different occasion when it was too hot outside I did a cherry dip. Melted like crazy under the dip but still fire and I'd do it again. Haven't tried their food but it always smells good. Should you give any and all the above a shot? Absolutely. Drive across town at rush hour hating your life in traffic? Worth it. The location? Small lot, street parking options, the cutest little stand you could ask for with a few benches to the side. I love it. Decided to try this place out because of them being voted the best ice cream in the country... Sadly I was a little disappointed. It was a little on the bland side. I wasn't amazed by the taste. Definitely not worth waiting in line for.... However, on the plus side. The portion for a large cup of twist ice cream was impressive and the amount of cookie dough toppings for $0.73 was great. I will give them credit for that. Price for what I got was a total of $5.09. Which is good price for the amount of ice cream I received. Overall I don't think they lived up to their hype. But if you want a big portion of decent ice cream for good price, give it a try. They do have outdoor seating and a small parking lot. read more

We went here after an early dinner in the area. We had seen something in the news that morning that it was one of three Minnesota ice cream shops that were competing in some national best ice cream competition. We were planning to to have dinner in the area anyway, we may as well try it out. It's basically a stand in a parking lot with like a strip mall next-door. There's plenty of outside seats and parking. There was no line when we got there at 5:30 on a 90° day. They only do soft serve ice cream so we got vanilla dip, vanilla sprinkle, and an orange dip cone. The chocolate dip did not taste very chocolatey, so I took it off as it was not worth the calories. The ice cream was melting fast, but the chocolate shell did not melt at all and kept its form to the end. Not sure what is in it that made it not melt. The soft serve itself was just OK. It wasn't very creamy or tasty, but it was cold and served its purpose on a hot day. read more

Stopped by Cup and Cone and tried their Root Beer Freeze--a blend of vanilla ice cream and root beer soda. While the root beer flavor wasn't as bold as I expected (I was left wanting a little more of that punch), it was still a good and refreshing treat. Right after paying, I noticed it was Salted Caramel weekend. Couldn't resist adding a kiddy cone just for a taste, and I'm so glad I did. That flavor was amazingly refreshing--the perfect balance of sweet and salty. So far, I haven't tried anything here that I didn't enjoy. It's always a solid stop when I'm in the area. I also really appreciate their portion sizes (just right) and the fact that they offer a cash discount--a nice little perk you don't see often these days. When we rounded the corner to park, we were surprised the line was only half a block long. Line went fast though. We ordered cones but they offer more options (sundae, shakes, malts) and food (hot dogs, nachos, hoagies). There are plenty of picnic tables to sit at, in the shade, to enjoy your treat. A icon of WBL is Cup and Cone. It's been around since 1973. Wow! It's a little stand outside near the red caboose that you see off of 61. They have a classic flavor of the day along with a dairy free option - check out their calendar on their site. There's also a 5% discount for paying with cash. Our first time going this weekend after friends swore by it. My son got the chocolate and vanilla twist with some rainbow sprinkles. The only bummer was the way the ice cream went off to the side and that it was dripping immediately when I received it from the window. It was a bit messy for our 6 yr old and was dripping everywhere. Otherwise it's a very cute ice cream shop and they also have other good menu items. I first heard about Cup & Cone years ago and just last week finally had the opportunity to try it. It's a little Ma&Pop stop in White Bear Lake. Huge variety of ice cream flavors (dairy free as well) and many toppings to pick from. I saw they offered food options as well. The submarine sandwiches looked huge! The line was long, but moved quickly and staff handled the busyness well. This place gave me all the summer vibes! I enjoyed a small vanilla and chocolate twist cone. Legendary! Dog friendly due to being located outside, Cup and Cone is extraordinary. The staff is super friendly and polished considering they process hundreds of orders every two seconds. I get anxiety with every visit because I want 200 items and can never decide on one. Not only are the ice cream options plentiful, the sub sandwiches are unreal as well (served with two slices of meat, cheese and your toppings of choice available in either 6 or 12 inches). Many folks come here for the ice cream and your classic choice will be the crunch cone, a refreshing choice would be a slushie, the flavor of the day is always fun (note: you can add sprite to it), and my newest discovery is the freeze which is half slushy and half ice cream blended together making an extra frothy experience. I'm sorry but look. I am a Zephyr (and still outrunning WBL racers in the 1/2 mile ;) ) and Cup and Cone is a monument. I don't even wanna give the explanation of how few 5 star reviews I give, as this establishment is exemplary. There is a reason when in the summer there is a long line snaking around the plaza that was once Caribou/Einstein Bagels, and now is Caribou, with the fountain and a parking lot on the other side of the restaurants. The ordering process online for my curbside pick up was easy and smooth. They do not have ground markings for people outside while waiting in line to pick up. I believe having markers for 6 feet apart could help with social distancing and prevent others from cutting in line. While I was there a customer came and asked everyone waiting if we all ordered. The response was yes, but then he went up to the window to pick up his order. While we all were waiting for our turn to the window. I ate my ice cream in the vehicle while in parking lot. While enjoying my ice cream I noticed many customers leaving with subs. They appeared to be a hit so I ordered again to try the sub.
