We booked a 2-day guided trip for four to catch redfish. We were disappointed, to say the least. We all know how to fish, so were not expecting a lot of help with equipment or baiting hooks. However, having fished charters in Florida, Alaska, and Hawaii, this is the first time we have ever had to compete with our guide to catch fish. Never before have we even been with a guide who actively fished, but instead took care of his guests and kept them on the fish. The Captain stood in the prime angler's spot on the front deck next to the trolling motor - he had a remote, but chose not to use it, for what ever reason. His line was always the first one in the water, and he fished virtually every new area ahead of any of those of us paying for the trip. He did, reluctantly, put his gear aside for a quick reset if one of us asked for help, or to net a fish for us. Otherwise, it was as if he was going fishing, and we just rode out on the boat with him. He never put us in any area where there was a lot of activity; we would fish a non-productive area until we would finally all sit down and wait for him to look for another spot. We did catch some fish, but not much compared to the photos on their website of other groups with their captains on those same dates. Also, he did not dress the flounder properly that we caught, and the restaurant couldn't cook it for us. The second day, we just gave him the fish we did catch; I think he caught about 5 himself, and the rest of us caught about that many. With a paid trip for four, one of us had to sit out since the Captain kept fishing ahead of us. I was offered minimal compensation not to post this review. I told the owner I would not post it if they wanted to refund 1 full day of guided fishing as we had paid for two. They declined, so here it is. read more

Had a great time fishing with josh. We almost caught our limit but I'll blame user error on that one. Caught some fish, saw some gators, had a blast over all. I will definitely be going with them again. Tip: for some reason you land the most fish off the back with josh. read more

My family-and-friends group of 7 spent 3 nights in their newly remodeled cabin. Wow! Really luxe digs for "down on the bayou." Susan and Dave run a terrific service and provide everything for a big group to enjoy their fishing trip. I fished mostly with Dave during our time there and I really recommend him as a guide. He put us right on the fish and was a pleasure to hang out with. Made and already fun trip even more fun. He was great company. I can't recommend Dave and Susan highly enough. They do such a good job with everything and pay close attention to detail. I'm not an easy guy to please, and they exceeded expectations on all fronts. read more

Captain David was an amazing guide and his wife Susan was very personable over the phone and was able to hook up a group of 4 of us to go out fishing for red fish. Two of us where from out of state and 2 locals which one stated "was on of the best fishing days he's had in his life in LA". The boat ride was a little chilly but worth every second of the ride over, we were able to hook into a red fish within minutes, and the bite was crazy! Talk about a fish every cast for one of the group! We easily limited out and even had several nice "bulls". While I personally have the policy "you catch it you clean it", Captain David did the dirty work for us and cleaned and bagged all 25 fish for our group. read more

I have been on multiple charter fishing trips but this was my worst experience ever. I will never go fishing in Lafitte again nor would I recommend any black people to go to this company. The captain was not friendly at all. He act like he didn't know where the fish were. He didn't even interact with the group. We had to basically ask him questions and pull answers out of him. I'm appalled and will never utilize this company again. read more

I'm from Michigan and have been on many fishing trips. I have to say this was the best one I've ever been on. Captain David was extremely knowledgeable - he knew every nook and cranny of that vast bayou. Most importantly, he knew exactly where the fish were biting and we had a great haul of huge Reds, speckled trout, and even some large mouth bass. Captain David was extremely helpful. It was a cold, windy morning in December and we hadn't dressed properly. He gave us spare coats for the ride through the bayou. He showed us exactly how to handle the lures for the different fish and had bait ready to go every time we lost ours. He was guiding us every step of the way, but let us do everything. He was also extremely polite, entertaining, and got along really well with our group. By the end of the trip, he was one of the guys. The clearest indication for us was that another charter boat went out at the same time as us. They went to fish for Reds elsewhere. We gave them about half our haul out of pity. read more

This fishing charter company is the way to go. Austin my fishing guide is a phenom, when the fishing conditions were rough this man knew how to adapt putting us on hard fighting, "tournament" reds. One of our Guides on a two day trip had a boat that did not have a working trolling motor on a windy day, thereby "Limiting our fishing opportunities" straight out of his mouth. He did not give any advice on how or where to fish ... he only stood at the front of the boat and fished for himself ... telling us he needed to feed his family and that the owner of BIG DOG wanted our fish for himself if we did not want to keep them, he told us this half way through our trip when we landed our one and only Redfish. Our guide on the first day was good, or we would have cancelled the second day. If we had this experience on day 1 instead of Day 2. When telling the Owner Susan about our experience she only apologized and offered no remedy ... after changing to a different Charter Company the next 2 days we passed Big Dog on our way out on both days and saw the same BAD Captain taking out other Guests out. Susan the Owner also was supposed to send our Photos from the First Day and the only Good Captain we had, but has yet to do so. Also she ever never written or called me to rectify my $1,700.00 MISTAKE. read more

This is how a business should be run. I sent a request online and it was responded to very quickly. Susan had all the information that you needed in the emails and was very prompt with responses. I booked it for my parents and they came back saying they loved it. They said their guide Josh was amazing and was very helpful. To top that off they just emailed me pictures of my parents on the boat which I really wanted and didn't even know they did that so it was a wonderful surprise. Very happy with this company! read more
