Went to Big Door Winery on a Sunday afternoon with my best friend and had the cutest time. As soon as we got there, we heard music playing outside and planned to sit outside right away. We went inside first to order and ended up getting two flights to try different options and a charcuterie board. Since we had a lot to carry, we decided to stay inside for a bit, and I'm so glad we did. We started chatting with the owners, and they shared such a sweet story about the winery and their friendship. It honestly made me and my best friend look at each other like "okay, should we open a winery too?!" lol After we finished, we got a bottle of the "Best Friends" red wine, which was perfect for us, and then headed outside to enjoy the weather. The whole vibe was great felt like we were at a little Napa Valley winery. This is a nice relaxed spot with great wine, great energy, and such kind people. Will certainly be back. read more

Went here for Mother's Day and overall had a good experience. The place was beautiful, the wine was great, and despite how busy it was, the parking attendant was very kind and helpful. The only negative experience we had was with one of the workers/volunteers. We were seated at a table that was still dirty from the previous guests, so we politely asked if it could be cleaned off. The first employee responded with, "Good luck with that, we are slammed," which came across as rude and unprofessional. We then asked another employee, and he kindly said he would be there in a minute and came back to clean the table with no issue. After that, the original employee returned and said, "I'm just a volunteer and I'm 7 months pregnant," which again felt unnecessary and unprofessional. I completely understand that holidays are hectic and staff can be overwhelmed, but a polite response or asking another employee to assist would have gone a long way. Despite that interaction, I'd still come back on a less busy day because the atmosphere and wine were enjoyable. read more

Canton has a winery?!? Well yeehaw! I would've never been out to this place if my friend hadn't been performing here with her guitar. Driving up to the entrance, I would have never guessed the view we were about to see. They literally stuck a vineyard in the middle of nowhere, and it works because you completely forget you're in Canton when you park. It's a scene right out of Napa Valley. Majestic vineyard with a retention pond and a babbling brook cascading down a nicely crafted waterfall. Plenty of parking here! I love the outdoor area with an in-place food truck, Edison lights and plenty of seating. As you walk up the hill to the tasting room, they have swings overlooking the vineyard and angled perfectly. For the aesthetics, absolutely 5 stars. The tasting room was nice and spread out, with covered seating outside and plenty of tables inside. The selection of wines available were decent. We did a charcuterie board and I got a flight plus a full pour. My only suggestion is to work on the presentation for the flights (jell-o plastic cup pours, meh). I didn't feel like I got as much as I should for the flights BUT it still hit! I did the Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Ocean View. I'm used to the crisp bite of New Zealand/Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc so I wasn't a fan. Probably went against my better judgement and should've done the reds but I did like the Chardonnay. The funny part is I can't even recall now what I ordered for my full pour . I was just enjoying the music and the views. The charcuterie board was amazing and was more than enough to fill up 3-4 people. We really enjoyed this trip here and might possibly go back during the fall! Certainly recommend! read more

We were greeted with warm hospitality from Ray one of the owners and Alexis who was preparing our flights There were breathtaking views, and a welcoming atmosphere that made us feel instantly at home. The wines--every single one we tasted--were beautifully crafted, balanced, and bursting with character. You can truly taste the care and passion in each pour. Alexis was not only knowledgeable, but also enthusiastic and friendly, happily answering our questions. The tasting room was elegant yet relaxed, and the vineyard setting was like something out of a dream--rolling hills, golden light, and peaceful serenity. We left with several bottles (and plans to come back soon). If you're looking for a perfect day of wine, scenery, and outstanding service, look no further. Five stars, without question! My sister and I had a great time at Big Door.  We both got one of the sweet flights of wine. The young lady that helped us at the counter was really nice and helpful in making a selection. To be clear, wine afficionados would not rave about Big Door .... but if you take into account the total package -- ambience, setting, staff -- you'd probably award the place at least four stars as well. Today we were on the porch under a heater, which made outside seating on a cold day quite comfortable. Based on our last tasting we ordered a bottle of Gold Lace. This is a blend of dry blanc du blanc and Darlene muscadine, resulting in a light and aromatic wine that's just a bit sweet. With outside food prohibited, we ordered a charcuterie box which was as good and varied as we had before. Big Door invested in two igloos which are rentable in two hour increments. I reserved one for next month, when we celebrate my mother's 95th birthday. (I hope our plans aren't foiled by covid or extreme weather.) The igloos can accommodate up to eight people. Included in the $150 fee are two bottles of wine and charcuterie -- a nice treat for my out-of-town guests. As with most wineries, business picks up on the weekend, which is why my preference is to go during the week -- particularly during the pandemic. read more

We've only been here twice but will be going back! Such a great space for a date night or to hangout with friends. The outdoor areas has tons of seating, fire pits, and a gorgeous view. The vineyard has food which is great and also has food trucks come in which is always fun! Last time we were there they had a taco truck. A quick thirty minutes up I-75 from our Marietta homestead, there's a charming little destination called Big Door Vineyards. We used to live in Austin, where some amazing wineries awaited us in Fredericksburg. And living in metro-Atlanta, we make it a point to trek to Dahlonega/Cleveland/Helen for their winery experiences, but if I'll be honest, Big Door has been a lovely discovery to save us time on the road. As a family of three, we hopped in the car on a Saturday early afternoon. We're always tiptoeing when we go somewhere where booze is the main event when we take our three year old with us, but let me tell you - Tyler (maybe Taylor? Sorry if I'm getting it wrong!) took one look at our daughter and immediately offered her a Caprisun from a "secret stash". He also noticed it was our first time and gave us the in-depth run through of how things work there. Never once did we feel like we were out of place because we came with our three year old. Their food menu is sources food from a local provision down the street. We ate the sandwich special of the day - the chicken bacon on ciabatta. Delicious! We also had the hummus plate. It was essentially two Costco hummus containers with veggies and crackers. Nothing to write home about, but definitely satisfies the munchies. The grounds are stunning. Our daughter had a fun time exploring around the little lake. She also met the resident ducks, which was fun. If you're a muscadine/sweet wine fan, know this is the ideal spot for you. As for us, we prefer bolder, dryer wines. While there were some options - and we definitely enjoyed them - it would be nice to revel in the non-sweet wine options. We tried the Cab, Pinot, Merlot and a non-sweet white wine that Taylor/Tyler recommended. All in all, while the wine quality may be lacking, the service, grounds and experience will keep us coming back again and again. So glad we discovered it! read more

We didn't do the wine flights, but ordered and tasted based on the guidance from Kristen. I loved the white Blanc Du Bois and red Lenoir! There was wonderful music in the corner and a perfect view out the windows... LOTS of windows. VERY busy... perhaps expected on such a gorgeous Spring day. We had lobster rolls from the food truck, which were yummy... but the Big Door charcuterie boards looked great too. This was such a nice day.... great wines and many friendly people! This was my first ever vineyard experience and I don't think I could've had any better of an experience. I went with a group of vineyard experienced girls who have been to a couple of vineyards in north GA including Chateu Elan, Montaluce, and Wolf Mountain, and Yonah Mountain, and they all agreed that this was high up on the rankings. One of my friends who had been to vineyards in Napa Valley, California even said in terms of aesthetics, Big Door Vineyards was comparable, albeit smaller than the vineyards in Cali. The flights were $14 each, which was really affordable as my friends said flights can be about $40 normally. We tried the fruit, red, and sweet wine flights and my overall favorite was the Secret Lover from the fruity flight, which we got a bottle of later on. I also really liked Blue Velvet and Peachcasso from the fruit flight, and Perfect Evening from the red wine flight. The desert wines were good, but there wasn't one that was particularly notable for me. We also got a small charcuterie board, which apparently just comes in a box, so it wasn't as aesthetic as we would've hoped. We asked to replace the meats with cheeses as we had more vegetarians in the group, but the combination of cheeses, crackers, olives, and honey was really good. The parking was free and plenty, which was super nice! The water was actually as blue as it is in photos which was really surprising to me! We went on New Years Day in winter so I was not expecting any of the scenery to be as nice as it was, but everything was actually so stunning. There was live music inside and plenty of seating outside. There are 4 fluffy ducks that just add to the beauty of the experience. With the 3 flights, 1 bottle, and charcuterie board for 5 people, the total came out to be just $18 for each person, which was fantastic. Given that it's also not too far out from Atlanta, I think I'll be making another visit soon. read more

First vineyard stop on our long weekend to N Georgia. Beautiful place and very friendly people. It was not too busy given it was a Thursday but as we were leaving it was definitely picking up. We did a tasting each and tried both reds and whites. All were pretty good. I liked the Lomanto and Deb liked the Blanc du Bois. We picked up a couple of bottles. First time here at Big Door Vineyard. A little embarrassed about that since it's less than 10 minutes from me. What an absolutely beautiful place. The main building looks like a rustic vineyard that has been there for decades. When you get out of your car it overlooks the lined rows of grapes growing, a pond and waterfalls and walking paths around the pond. There's a small stage for music and tables and tent sails to block the sun. The Wine: I am no connoisseur of wine but I like a good cab or merlot. The dryer the better. They delivered. The merlot and the oaky Cabernet were awesome. Wife had the Blanc du Bois which she loved. I was so surprised to get such good wine so close to home. The food: we ordered the spinach dip and veggie plate. Packed pre made but delish. Also there was a food truck there since it was a Saturday. This is a hidden treasure right on Hwy 20 in Canton. I cannot believe it took me this long to go there. Surely be back...a lot. read more

Horrible Customer Service and Discrimination I had an awful experience here. I went with my service dog, and after informing the owner that my dog was there for service, they demanded documentation--which is not only unnecessary but illegal. The owner made me feel incredibly uncomfortable and discriminated against. Despite my clear explanation, the owner continued to insist my dog was not a service animal and repeatedly demanded proof. This was beyond humiliating and completely unacceptable. I've taken my service dog to countless places without issue, but the way I was treated here was the worst experience I've ever had. I will never return, and I'm filing a formal complaint with the ADA. If you value respect, accessibility, or lawful treatment of individuals with disabilities, I strongly recommend staying away from this place. read more

Three of us went at 2:30 on a Sunday in August. It was pretty packed. In the time of coronavirus, the majority of the people waiting in line to order were not wearing masks. The employees were wearing masks, but one was wearing it on her chin and another had it below his nose. The ordering process was not efficient. They have a small counter with 3-4 people manning it. They do tastings and ordering at the counter, even though it doesn't have enough space for that. Two parties (one of 4 people, one of 2 people) were doing a tasting at the counter, which didn't leave room for anyone to order, so we waited in line for a while before we finally got to the front. The menus were on the counter. Some suggestions I would make: 1) Do tastings at tables so that people can order at the counter. 2) Keep some menus on the barrels by the door for people to look at while they wait in line to speed the process up. Or put a menu on a chalkboard behind the counter. We got a glass of Horse Creek Cabernet Sauvignon ($9 for a glass), which was delicious, and the Big Door Evening Breeze (white) ($16 for a bottle), also good, but very sweet. Reasonable prices. Pros: - Closer to Atlanta than most of the other wineries - Pretty - Decent wine - Has wine from their sister winery, Horse Creek - Lots of seating - Live music (inside) Cons: - Inefficient ordering process - Masks are not required inside when ordering If you're looking for a quick getaway, this is a good place for that. Five Big Stars!! This was my first time going to the Vineyard and I will definitely be going back the service there was very nice, the ladies that helped us were very knowledgeable of the wine and catered to me in my groups preferences. We went on a sunny Saturday and the weather was in the 70s when we pulled up. It was really easy to par going to the park. We walked up to the main entrance where are you can go in and order wine and they have flights that cost $14 for four samples. You can also buy bottles of wine there if you choose to. Once we got our wine, we went out and found some seats. They have a fire pit where you can sit as well and we just sit wine and enjoy the whole atmosphere. The grounds, a very picturesque so if you like to take pictures, there are more than many places where you can snap some pictures. This would be a great place to go on a romantic date as well. read more

The seating is cozy and the entertainment is very pleasant as you enjoy the different wines Big Door has to offer.As you sip your wine and listen to the various artists you can look out and see the vineyards. Its so beautiful and relaxing. Big Door has a very nice selection of wines and all I've tried has been very smooth and tasty. I always make sure I purchase a few bottles to take home for quite nights or when guests come over. You also have to try the cheese and fruit tray. Not only is it presented in a beautiful array of different fruits and cheeses it always pairs well the wine. The service is wonderful, all with extensive knowledge of the various wines. Very friendly and pleasant to talk to. Parking is plenty but could be a small walk (no problem). The wines are all very reasonable in price and would recommend taking a few home to try. My mom always wanted to do a wine tasting so while we were in Atlanta recently I googled the many different wineries there. Out of all the places this one stood out the most for some reason....I have no complaints about this place! I absolutely LOVED everything about it. We tried the sweet and fruity wine flights and they were all pretty good especially the Blue Velvet. The staff was nice and very friendly...... I can't believe I forgot her name but she was helpful and kind. Besides the wine I think my mom enjoyed their little waterfall and pond. Visited this absolute gem this past beautiful Sunday. What an amazing place, delicious wines, and the staff...words can't even begin! They made us feel like family, spent time w us, shared their story, and made a perfect day even more so! We frequent the. N Ga wineries, this was our first visit here, and we all agreed that this is by far our favorite. You can see the heart that's been put into this place, and feel it as well. They are fairly new to the scene and have, and continue to face hurdle after hurdle. I say please support them! In its 7th month already, I had to come check it out for a local get-together with live music and friends. Wine lovers however, would like the Muscadine and the BlackJack wine which is popular here. It's a beautiful tavern set in nature & the acoustic music makes for a good life vibe with friends setting. Definitely worth the the trip for the ambiance if you want a classy place to hang out. The flow goes like this: visitors park at the bottom of the hill. The parking up close is for handicapped or for those who live in the home next door at the owners home. Then walk through the fancy big doors to the register where you can order wine or a tasty small sandwich with chips. And they'll give you a number & bring out your order to whatever table you decide to sit at indoors or outdoor. I've been to Napa Wine country and chateaus which garner the 4 and 5 stars but this is definitely a wonderful small local winery to come see and support. read more
