Canton has a winery?!? Well yeehaw! I would've never been out to this place if my friend hadn't been performing here with her guitar. Driving up to the entrance, I would have never guessed the view we were about to see. They literally stuck a vineyard in the middle of nowhere, and it works because you completely forget you're in Canton when you park. It's a scene right out of Napa Valley. Majestic vineyard with a retention pond and a babbling brook cascading down a nicely crafted waterfall. Plenty of parking here! I love the outdoor area with an in-place food truck, Edison lights and plenty of seating. As you walk up the hill to the tasting room, they have swings overlooking the vineyard and angled perfectly. For the aesthetics, absolutely 5 stars. The tasting room was nice and spread out, with covered seating outside and plenty of tables inside. The selection of wines available were decent. We did a charcuterie board and I got a flight plus a full pour. My only suggestion is to work on the presentation for the flights (jell-o plastic cup pours, meh). I didn't feel like I got as much as I should for the flights BUT it still hit! I did the Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Ocean View. I'm used to the crisp bite of New Zealand/Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc so I wasn't a fan. Probably went against my better judgement and should've done the reds but I did like the Chardonnay. The funny part is I can't even recall now what I ordered for my full pour . I was just enjoying the music and the views. The charcuterie board was amazing and was more than enough to fill up 3-4 people. We really enjoyed this trip here and might possibly go back during the fall! Certainly recommend!

Went here for Mother's Day and overall had a good experience. The place was beautiful, the wine was great, and despite how busy it was, the parking attendant was very kind and helpful. The only negative experience we had was with one of the workers/volunteers. We were seated at a table that was still dirty from the previous guests, so we politely asked if it could be cleaned off. The first employee responded with, "Good luck with that, we are slammed," which came across as rude and unprofessional. We then asked another employee, and he kindly said he would be there in a minute and came back to clean the table with no issue. After that, the original employee returned and said, "I'm just a volunteer and I'm 7 months pregnant," which again felt unnecessary and unprofessional. I completely understand that holidays are hectic and staff can be overwhelmed, but a polite response or asking another employee to assist would have gone a long way. Despite that interaction, I'd still come back on a less busy day because the atmosphere and wine were enjoyable.

We loved the vibes and music playing on 4.5.25... taco truck had yummy tacos and wine flights were a good way to sample a variety. All the glasses of wine were great!! Coming from California loving our vineyards over there. I'm so grateful to have an option in Georgia now.

Great for a date or group outing. Wine by the glass or bottle. Great snacks or small entrees available for purchase. Theme nights on the premises. Staff was lovely enjoyed my girls evening here after work. Not far from Canton off 575. One of the closest vineyards from the city areas.

My husband surprised me with a visit to Big Door Vineyards! I was so in awe of the beauty of the vineyard! It was a beautiful Sunny Saturday! We choice 2 flights of wine and we enjoyed them all! My sister and I had a great time at Big Door. We both got one of the sweet flights of wine. The young lady that helped us at the counter was really nice and helpful in making a selection. We've only been here twice but will be going back! Such a great space for a date night or to hangout with friends. The outdoor areas has tons of seating, fire pits, and a gorgeous view. The vineyard has food which is great and also has food trucks come in which is always fun! Last time we were there they had a taco truck. Everyone who works there is super nice and cheerful.

A quick thirty minutes up I-75 from our Marietta homestead, there's a charming little destination called Big Door Vineyards. We used to live in Austin, where some amazing wineries awaited us in Fredericksburg. And living in metro-Atlanta, we make it a point to trek to Dahlonega/Cleveland/Helen for their winery experiences, but if I'll be honest, Big Door has been a lovely discovery to save us time on the road. As a family of three, we hopped in the car on a Saturday early afternoon. We're always tiptoeing when we go somewhere where booze is the main event when we take our three year old with us, but let me tell you - Tyler (maybe Taylor? Sorry if I'm getting it wrong!) took one look at our daughter and immediately offered her a Caprisun from a "secret stash". He also noticed it was our first time and gave us the in-depth run through of how things work there. Never once did we feel like we were out of place because we came with our three year old. Their food menu is sources food from a local provision down the street. We ate the sandwich special of the day - the chicken bacon on ciabatta. Delicious! We also had the hummus plate. It was essentially two Costco hummus containers with veggies and crackers. Nothing to write home about, but definitely satisfies the munchies. The grounds are stunning. Our daughter had a fun time exploring around the little lake. She also met the resident ducks, which was fun. If you're a muscadine/sweet wine fan, know this is the ideal spot for you. As for us, we prefer bolder, dryer wines. While there were some options - and we definitely enjoyed them - it would be nice to revel in the non-sweet wine options. We tried the Cab, Pinot, Merlot and a non-sweet white wine that Taylor/Tyler recommended. All in all, while the wine quality may be lacking, the service, grounds and experience will keep us coming back again and again. So glad we discovered it!

This was my first ever vineyard experience and I don't think I could've had any better of an experience. I went with a group of vineyard experienced girls who have been to a couple of vineyards in north GA including Chateu Elan, Montaluce, and Wolf Mountain, and Yonah Mountain, and they all agreed that this was high up on the rankings. One of my friends who had been to vineyards in Napa Valley, California even said in terms of aesthetics, Big Door Vineyards was comparable, albeit smaller than the vineyards in Cali. The flights were $14 each, which was really affordable as my friends said flights can be about $40 normally. We tried the fruit, red, and sweet wine flights and my overall favorite was the Secret Lover from the fruity flight, which we got a bottle of later on. I also really liked Blue Velvet and Peachcasso from the fruit flight, and Perfect Evening from the red wine flight. The desert wines were good, but there wasn't one that was particularly notable for me. We also got a small charcuterie board, which apparently just comes in a box, so it wasn't as aesthetic as we would've hoped. We asked to replace the meats with cheeses as we had more vegetarians in the group, but the combination of cheeses, crackers, olives, and honey was really good. The parking was free and plenty, which was super nice! The water was actually as blue as it is in photos which was really surprising to me! We went on New Years Day in winter so I was not expecting any of the scenery to be as nice as it was, but everything was actually so stunning. There was live music inside and plenty of seating outside. There are 4 fluffy ducks that just add to the beauty of the experience. With the 3 flights, 1 bottle, and charcuterie board for 5 people, the total came out to be just $18 for each person, which was fantastic. Given that it's also not too far out from Atlanta, I think I'll be making another visit soon.

LOVELY place to visit on a beautiful afternoon! Interesting and knowledgeable wine sommelier. Several wines to choose from.... although they were out of the fruity wines that are perfect for summer. We didn't do the wine flights, but ordered and tasted based on the guidance from Kristen. I loved the white Blanc Du Bois and red Lenoir! There was wonderful music in the corner and a perfect view out the windows... LOTS of windows. VERY busy... perhaps expected on such a gorgeous Spring day. We had lobster rolls from the food truck, which were yummy... but the Big Door charcuterie boards looked great too. This was such a nice day.... great wines and many friendly people! First vineyard stop on our long weekend to N Georgia. Beautiful place and very friendly people. It was not too busy given it was a Thursday but as we were leaving it was definitely picking up. We did a tasting each and tried both reds and whites. All were pretty good. I liked the Lomanto and Deb liked the Blanc du Bois. We picked up a couple of bottles. Overall a great stop with good wines. Stop and chill a bit!

Three of us went at 2:30 on a Sunday in August. It was pretty packed. In the time of coronavirus, the majority of the people waiting in line to order were not wearing masks. The employees were wearing masks, but one was wearing it on her chin and another had it below his nose. The ordering process was not efficient. They have a small counter with 3-4 people manning it. They do tastings and ordering at the counter, even though it doesn't have enough space for that. Two parties (one of 4 people, one of 2 people) were doing a tasting at the counter, which didn't leave room for anyone to order, so we waited in line for a while before we finally got to the front. The menus were on the counter. Some suggestions I would make: 1) Do tastings at tables so that people can order at the counter. 2) Keep some menus on the barrels by the door for people to look at while they wait in line to speed the process up. Or put a menu on a chalkboard behind the counter. We got a glass of Horse Creek Cabernet Sauvignon ($9 for a glass), which was delicious, and the Big Door Evening Breeze (white) ($16 for a bottle), also good, but very sweet. Reasonable prices. Pros: - Closer to Atlanta than most of the other wineries - Pretty - Decent wine - Has wine from their sister winery, Horse Creek - Lots of seating - Live music (inside) Cons: - Inefficient ordering process - Masks are not required inside when ordering If you're looking for a quick getaway, this is a good place for that. I think we'll try a different winery next time though!

My husband and I are not even wine drinkers, but we LOVE this place! The view was amazing. Loved walking around there, very scenic. Then we went inside where we did taste wine and the bartender was amazing and super friendly. Explained so much to us about the wines. We decided to have lunch there and it was an amazing sandwich with amazing chips. We will definitely go back and plan on bringing our son and his fiancé'. read more

Mehhhh this place was not much to brag about. I was disappointed in the number of wines they don't make themselves and the lack of flavor of the wines they do make. Food was decent although I wouldn't recommend the dessert box because you pay $10 for cookies and brownies that come from the Sam's Club tray. There was limited seating inside so there were about 10 tables outside under a fan, 6 in the blazing sun, and 9 or so under the gazebo. I would recommend coming early if you do decide to come or come when the weather is cooler! Would I come again? Probably not. Pros: beautiful scenery Variety of wine Food! Loved our wine we picked! Due to covid, we were not able to do the wine tasting on this visit but the bartender was very kind to let us still sample a variety score purchasing a bottle/glass. We also ordered some foods and everything was good, loved loved the jam that came with our charcuterie box (yes right now they are not doing the "board" and instead packaging in cardboard boxes due to covid) I do wish it was a little bigger though! I couldn't have asked for a better day! We enjoyed amazing wine while watching a thunderstorm turn into a beautiful sunset. Amazing scenery, AMAZING STAFF. I have to emphasize how personable the staff is here. They were helpful, patient, and kind the entire time. Every staff member I interacted with was so friendly. They helped us choose our wine based on our preference and helped us through this process while offering us tastings. I wish I could give 10 stars. Visited for my best friends birthday. Beautiful location, super friendly staff and what I believe was the owner, was super attentive and even brought blankets to the ladies at our table that were cold! As far as food, it's relatively basic but was decent. We tried the spinach and artichoke dip, a pepperoni pizza, and the charcuterie which I felt could have been a little more "filled out" for the price, it was very minimal, BUT, food is not what we were there for so I wasn't bothered by it. The atmosphere, the service, the yummy wines (I only tried a couple but they were great) all leant to such a cozy and relaxing atmosphere! Will definitely return! read more

This does not even feel like Georgia! Hills of vineyards, a lake, live music, delicious wine: this place is perfect for unwinding and enjoying nature. We sat on the porch outside and enjoyed the charcuterie box at sunset. I kinda want to go every Friday evening, though no wine flights that night! I can't recommend enough. read more

Had no idea this gem was located so close to home! My husband and I spent our second anniversary here. Great staff, great wine. A tasting is a must and at a great price! View from their deck is like stepping away from Atlanta for a little while. The offer wine slushees and sparking wine on draft. Overall the experience was decent. We made a reservation almost a week in advance which is completely pointless because tables are first come, first serve. They had some tables with reservation cards with a last name on them, but for some reason, we did not have one. Because you can walk around and also seat yourself, it's kind of confusing. This was our first time so we were unsure of how things went. Staff strolling past you, unable to get any clear direction of how things work. Bartender was helpful finally. I assume because of covid, all the food is packaged in boxes and purchased from Costco. The food was fine, I just wish they at least made an effort to hide labels. Costco's label was proudly displayed throughout. The wines and other drinks were enjoyable. Atmosphere was nice. But knowing I'm paying $10 for Costco food just kinda ruins the experience a bit! read more

Wines are too young to be served. Staff uneducated about wines. When we asked when was the wine made and what grapes was it made from we received a " I think in the last few months and not sure, but they are our grapes ". Owner came by so I reached out to him since we were being ignored after the server couldn't answer our questions. he told us "if you want to know about wines come Monday thru Thursday." Well, we were there then. Sure Saturdays are busy but that's when you get people in who could become your greatest fans wouldn't you try to inform them? This venue is beautiful. But the wines need help, possibly just aging. I think you can buy better wines at Costco for under $15. We don't enjoy wines that are "helped" by chemicals (sugar) added to age them quicker. The good thing is people like wines for different reasons. There are wines for different palates. So some may enjoy sweet, headache producing wines and others drink wine to enjoy the flavors and complexity without getting drunk and having a hangover. Unfortunately, I think this is like some other NW Georgia wineries that are jumping on the money train of Georgia wines and really just giving it a bad name. I acknowledge palates are different. Some will drink sweet, unaged wines and be fine. It's not for me. There's a dog for every dog house. I do not recommend this winery for those who enjoy well crafted wines. I'll spend $60+ on a bottle of good wine. I wouldn't pay more than "2 buck Chuck" for these wines. read more

If you have a dog, find another place to go. We were immediately told that the only place our dog was welcome was on the lawn. We were told there was an "incident" that caused this policy. That's fine, they can have their policy. We also have our choice to go elsewhere. read more

Staff was great. Atmosphere great. Wine was awful. I don't recommend it if you actually enjoy wine tastings. The wine was just not good... had the white wine flight and they all had a bad after taste and poor quality. The rose was orange ? I'm no expert but I have had good wine, cheap wine and expensive wine... and now I have had bad wine. Not worth the drive. We had our two flights and left. read more

My partner and I came in over the weekend for the first time. Neither of us had been to a vineyard/winery before so was a little confused on the process as we stepped up to the counter to order. Taylor Jones helped us decide on a wine and was SUPER helpful. He asked questions based on our drinking tastes, and ended up picking the red table wine for us and it was delicious! He also suggested the chicken bacon sandwich and the small charcuterie plate to share. Both were amazing and the chips that came with the sandwich were fantastic. I also saw the owner running around and cleaning off tables and interacting with guests which I thought was great. The outdoor area was spacious with heaters and fires scattered about. Beautiful vineyard, will definitely be back in the spring when weather is a bit warmer! 10/10 read more

Very beautiful property. Inside is cozy but nice. Entertainment was good. I can not discuss the whites because I am a red wine drinker. we decided on a red wine tasting which was an offering of 4 wines for $14. The reds we tasted seemed VERY young! The Perfect Evening is very sweet. Lenoir is drier, but not much flavor. The Red Barn Run had a very syrupy texture. It actually coated my teeth. I would avoid this one. The final one was the Cabernet Sauvignon has promise but may need more time to age or even stay in the barrel longer. I admit I like a big bold cab which is why I say these wines are too young for me. We did not order food but it looked good. I may go back again, but it will be a while. The four star s really are for the atmosphere. read more

Very beautiful winery and vineyard. A handful of indoor tables and tons of outdoor seating. They have gas heaters on the porch for when it's cold and fans for when it's hot. The wine slushees were delicious and the charcuterie board was delicious - 3 types of cheese, different slices of salami and prosciutto, dried apricots and a tasty preserve. Venue is beautiful! The location is tucked away in the forest with a great view of the vineyard and a little lake. They're dog friendly on the outdoor porch, staff was nice enough to bring us a bowl of water for the puppy. Unfortunately the wine is lackluster. My friend and I each got something different, Beat Friends Blend and the Lenoir. Both were lacking in flavor and body, tasted more like grape juice than wine. read more

As other reviews state, wine is meh, but view is nice. Came here with friends last summer for the first time and other guests were being fairly drunk and unruly. Came again today. Was excited to get out after quarantine and also support local business. Bartender (didn't get her name but she was very short with tattoos) was incredibly rude to my friend. My friend first just asked if she was she could be on her own tab, the woman very condescendingly explained she hadn't done anything with her bill yet. Later, we were closing our tab and the bartender started asking why our fiancés had walked the long way down to the cornhole area. We hadn't seen the way they walked but looked and my friend said "oh, I don't know but they're down there" and she was like "WELL I CAN SEE WHERE THEYRE AT NOW" before muttering something about the cornhole. As if that wasn't just weird and rude enough, an older woman was there so drunk she had fallen walking around, was loud and FaceTiming people etc, got pissed at my friend for apparently accidentally making on eye contact when we were looking around the patio for the cornhole bags before asking the bartenders. She yelled "take a picture it will last longer" and after we were gone playing cornhole, she was violating the social distancing guidelines by going to other tables near where we had sat to loudly shit talk my friend or us and our fiances? I don't know what this place is doing right, but they seem to attract plenty of riff raff and get along with sh*t barstaff. Looking forward to never spending $$ there again. read more

The grounds are lovely, the staff is helpful and we had a perfectly pleasant afternoon at Big Door. My husband and I were commenting on how close it is to our home and how much we enjoyed it. BUT then the live musician for the day starting singing a song about "big legged women" while my husband and and I were walking around the pond. When we were passing him, he said, "this guy knows what I'm talking about!" to my husband just as we walked in front of him. I was absolutely mortified. We settled up our tab and left. What a horribly bad way to end a perfectly great afternoon. Maybe they need to rethink their choice of singers. read more

The customer service is TOP KNOTCH. We had a "girls day" this Saturday, little did I know it was also my surprise engagement with all of our family there. Big Door sent us home with two champagne glasses, and a delicious bottle of Wine.(Sunlight) The food was also delicious! We will be back! So very pleased. read more

This was our second visit. We had made reservations prior to our arrival and we're extremely satisfied that all was in order. Britney our hostess was fabulous. She addressed us by name and pointed out the table that she had reserved for us with her name on the table. She explained the wine list and the different flights that were available to us. The charcuterie was excellent that we ordered the wine that we chose was extremely tasty. The grounds are beautiful and available to walk and to take photographs. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle and find peace and serenity be sure to make Big Door Vineyards a frequent stop. Oh, it also provides a romantic setting to spend with that special someone. read more

Beautiful spot not too far from the city! Lots of indoor and outdoor seats and plenty of parking. If you Ike dry wines this isn't the place for you. Most wines seem to be made for muscadines make all on the sweet side. We were very much looking forward to enjoying some nice live music on this sunny afternoon but due to noise ordinance in the area the music must be inside. read more

You can't find a friendlier place anywhere! The staff is incredible. The musicians that are there every weekend are so talented. Did I mention the food? Yup, as good as everything else. There is a big porch that wraps around the building, and the ground are beautiful. A must visit, and you will be hooked. read more

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the soothing sounds of live acoustic music, which added to the vineyard's relaxing ambiance. We decided to indulge in one of their renowned charcuterie boards, beautifully arranged with a selection of meats, cheeses, and accompaniments. The freshness and quality of the offerings paired wonderfully with their semi-dry wine flight, making for a perfect afternoon. An unexpected twist to our visit happened when I realized I had locked my keys in the car. At first, I panicked, but the situation quickly turned into a funny and lighthearted moment, thanks to the incredibly accommodating staff. This is a bit of a smaller place, and the interior doesn't fit too many people. There is a patio outside though and you can walk around outside near the vines. I think the most difficult part was getting here and the parking situation. The way to get here was an extremely winding and twisting road. It was pretty hard to drive, but most roads to vineyards in North Georgia are like that. However, I did think this was a little harder to navigate and drive to than others I have been to, though. The most important part is the wine. We got a Groupon deal for 2 premium wine tastings (pick 5) and a souvenir glass. We tried the: -Sauvignon Blanc: Flavors of fresh cut grass, melons, and herbs. Definitely a good one if you are a Sauvignon Blanc fan like I am! -Gewurztraminer: Gardenia and Jamaican allspice. This is the most unique one I tried with a very interesting spice flavor to it. -Sangiovese: Red with fruity flavors of strawberry, cherry, raisin, and spice. Medium-bodied. -Collage: Bordeaux blend with black cherry, raspberry, vanilla, and chocolate. -Trebonnay: Semi-sweet with pear, mango, and citrus. Most of the wines here are all dry. But there is one semi-sweet wine, and 3 sweet wines. I enjoyed all the ones I tried! I really would recommend all of them. After the tasting, I also got a glass of Pickens Pink, a sweet blush wine with cherry-berry flavors. I thought it was a sweet, refreshing finish to the tasting. For parking, there are only 3 or 4 parking spots and the rest of the cars were parallel parked on a very small section of the road. There was no space available when we got there, so we actually parked somewhere across the street and walked there, which I'm not sure if we were allowed to do. The lady working here was very friendly and pretty quick to fill our next tasting. However, she did accidentally overcharge us since we already paid on Groupon and she charged us again. She did reverse it though, so not too big of a deal. Sharp Mountain is a cool place to check out if you are looking for a new vineyard to try in North Georgia! I really liked looking at all the vines since all the rows are marked with what kind of wine those grapes produce. There's also a nice mountain backdrop to the vineyard which gives it a nice view.

The bartender was great, very friendly. The beer was ok. I drink ciders and sours and those options were okay- but my friends enjoyed their drinks. Came for the Line Dancing and it was a blast! What made it more fun was the teacher, I love her. Just entertainment for the whole family. Also, the owner is not a bad dancer and truly seems to love what he does! I can see the need for a bigger dance floor in the future- definitely the place to be!

The space features an exposed brewhouse immediately upon entry with the bar the right and booth & high top seating throughout. There is also a nice outdoor seating space with patio couches. It has more of a restaurant vibe/feel than taproom/brewery but nevertheless it is a bright, clean, open area. The menu has a dozen housemade beers to choose from. Lagers, stouts, IPA, and sours are among the options. The beers were decent. Nothing super spectacular but also nothing too offensive. There was a sour stout on that I absolutely had to try. I had mixed feelings but it grew on me. The American lager was probably my favorite. Great beer to enjoy on a summer afternoon. There will be a kitchen coming from what I was told. For now you can enjoy pretzels to snack on if you would like. The owner was behind the bar and extremely friendly. He made the visit enjoyable and made for nice conversation. There are plenty of games to play to keep you entertained. I am excited to see how this place grows and matures. I believe the addition of a kitchen will make a world of difference

Gave them a call and spoke to Karen, who told me they did have the wine we were looking for, but they were going to be closed most of the day, but would stick around for another hour to wait for us (!). Arriving at the store, there was a note to call Karen, and a cute Springer Spaniel staring at us through the door (!). Karen and Randall were at the store in a matter of minutes. In addition to the elusive wine we were looking for, they gave us some great suggestions on others. They were so accommodating, despite being closed for the day; they even gave us tastings (!). From talking with them and checking out their website, they also do a lot of neat community focused events. These are the types of businesses that should be frequented so they can thrive!

One of which I was delighted with a fun group of people and several good glasses of wine. Mrs. Katherine and Danny made this night wonderful experience. They offer tasting every Thursday night. The tasting are $20 and if you RSVP for the next tasting you will get a discount. I hope for my next visit I will be able to purchase a bottle if not 2 bottles of the recommended wines of the night.
