I did enjoy Sharp Mountain Vineyards, but I don't think it quite makes my list of top favorite Georgia vineyards. This is a bit of a smaller place, and the interior doesn't fit too many people. There is a patio outside though and you can walk around outside near the vines. I think the most difficult part was getting here and the parking situation. The way to get here was an extremely winding and twisting road. It was pretty hard to drive, but most roads to vineyards in North Georgia are like that. However, I did think this was a little harder to navigate and drive to than others I have been to, though. The most important part is the wine. We got a Groupon deal for 2 premium wine tastings (pick 5) and a souvenir glass. We tried the: -Sauvignon Blanc: Flavors of fresh cut grass, melons, and herbs. Definitely a good one if you are a Sauvignon Blanc fan like I am! -Gewurztraminer: Gardenia and Jamaican allspice. This is the most unique one I tried with a very interesting spice flavor to it. -Sangiovese: Red with fruity flavors of strawberry, cherry, raisin, and spice. Medium-bodied. -Collage: Bordeaux blend with black cherry, raspberry, vanilla, and chocolate. -Trebonnay: Semi-sweet with pear, mango, and citrus. Most of the wines here are all dry. But there is one semi-sweet wine, and 3 sweet wines. I enjoyed all the ones I tried! I really would recommend all of them. After the tasting, I also got a glass of Pickens Pink, a sweet blush wine with cherry-berry flavors. I thought it was a sweet, refreshing finish to the tasting. For parking, there are only 3 or 4 parking spots and the rest of the cars were parallel parked on a very small section of the road. There was no space available when we got there, so we actually parked somewhere across the street and walked there, which I'm not sure if we were allowed to do. The lady working here was very friendly and pretty quick to fill our next tasting. However, she did accidentally overcharge us since we already paid on Groupon and she charged us again. She did reverse it though, so not too big of a deal. Sharp Mountain is a cool place to check out if you are looking for a new vineyard to try in North Georgia! I really liked looking at all the vines since all the rows are marked with what kind of wine those grapes produce. There's also a nice mountain backdrop to the vineyard which gives it a nice view. read more

Really pretty vineyard. Not very big. Has outdoor picnic seating. Small indoors. Not many choice of cheese and meat/ cracker menue . $10 5 tastings of any wine. If it wasn't for the group that went wouldn't have been much fun. Would have only given it two stars. They do not have a sommelier. She was not friendly/hospitable. Did not know the wines nor the pairings. Don't expect a profesional experience. It's mostly just to sell the bottles and be out. You have to do your own tasting and figure it out. read more

I really enjoyed visiting this winery. Hearing the history and the variety of wines, this place has both sweet and dry wines for people to enjoy. I ended up leaving with 2 bottles of Pinot Gris. I'm more of a dry wine person! It was interesting because their red wines were chilled! It didn't bother me because it's hot in the summer time so it's nice to have something chilled. They had 5 tastings for $10 and the bottles range from $15-29 each. The lot is small but if you make a right instead of turning left as if you're entering the winery. Turn right and there's a much larger shady parking lot. The outdoor area is very nice equipped with tables, outlets, and fans. Bring your lunch or a snack! Beautiful winery!! As you drive up the drive way the mountains and scenery comes out of no where. The wine was really good too. This place is cute and comfy. The wine bar is small so come during off hours if you want to sit at the bar. We didn't stay for the band but they have one every Saturday during the summer. They also have outdoor sitting so you can really take in the view. read more

Drove here from Johns Creek. The GPS made me go through a bunch of winding roads that were quite dangerous if you are not attentive to the sudden road changes. If you guys are coming from Marietta or SW Georgia, it's a little better. Sharp Mountain was something I never heard of until I discovered it from a Groupon ad. Located in Pickens County, Sharp Mountain offers an unique wine tasting experience with wines that are home grown on the same place that you taste them. the lady was nice and she was informative of all of the wines here. I like the reds and the sweets. I still prefer Wolf Mtn over this and other winery in the North Georgia. Check it out if you want something new esp if you are traveling from Gwinnett or Fulton. Parking will be a headache. There's a max of 5 slots and you are not allowed to park on the right side of the road making this is smallest parking lot for every other wineries I have been to in Georgia. read more

Ok, NEVER KNEW about this winery which is the closest to our area! Sharp Mountain is a GEM right in our own backyard! This small, family owned vineyard is located north of Atlanta in Jasper. They have wines that are not typical for Georgia wineries (Cab Franc, Blends, Sangiovese, etc.) Wines range from $20-$30. They offer tastings on the weekends for $5.00 (4 glasses). They also host weddings, parties, and groups. Here's what I LOVE about this place, you can bring your own FOOD! They have a beautiful covered deck area with a grill. You can bring your own food to grill! They also have an area with tables and a firepit. If you want a more romantic experience, bring your picnic blanket and enjoy wine in between the beautiful vines! The owners are onsite and so accomodating! They will explain the history of the vineyard, talk about each wine, and make you feel welcome. Make sure to put Sharp Mountain on your list of places to visit! read more

We got a Groupon and it was very well worth it for the value and we even got a couple of souvenir glasses. Loved coming to this winery! First off, they are PET-FRIENDLY!! I was looking for a pet-friendly for the longest and so glad I came across this one. They're about 45 mins outside of Atlanta, located in Sharp Mountain, Jasper off of 575. I realized why they close at 6p daily - those were some of the windiest roads I've ever encountered lol. We were slightly nervous but driving a little below the speed limit helped lol. The winery itself is a little on the smaller side, however has a ton of character. The husband and wife duo that own it were a blast to hang out with! Super friendly and accommodating to everyone that came in. It really felt like we knew them for years. They offer a tasting of 5 decent sized samples for $10. I tried 3 whites and 2 reds. The Pinot Gris was nice but was a little drier than I liked. The Sauvignon Blanc was really good - nice, full bodied white. I ended up getting a bottle of that ($18.95) for the patio. The Pinot Noir was a interesting sip - you could really taste the hint of tomato with the cherry. The Bordeaux Blend red was probably my favorite - definitely a wine that I would sip on with a meal or to relax in the evening. It was similar to other red blends that I've had, but a much easier to sip. I had a taste of a 3rd White but it was wayyyy too sweet. I was slightly disappointed they didn't have any bubbles, but they do make hard ciders that you can try as well. On Saturdays they have music from 2-5 on the COVERED patio. Like I said, it's on the smaller side, so get there earlier to get the best seats (they open at 12 M-Sa, 12:30 Su). They offer cheese and meat plates for $15 but encourage you to bring anything you'd like to eat. They even have grills available. Wow! I'll definitely be back to this winery again. You will not be disappointed, trust me. read more

So this place wasn't our 1st or even 2nd pick to first experience Georgia wines, but holy smokes- this place is a hidden gem. They have a full line-up of wines most are accustomed to seeing- Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cab, and of course the super sweet ones you would expect to see in Georgia. But there are others (some dry to very dry) that I've never seen and were phenomenal. This place is on my list of North Georgia short list, and I'm looking forward to tasting the vines in the coming years as they start really maturing. read more

Our first experience, and the last! The parking, or lack of, is a huge problem. I dropped my wife of in hopes of finding parking across the street but unfortunately there wasn't any. I finally parked at the bottom of the hill and walked roughly a 1/4 mile, only to arrive to an upset wife. While waiting, she was never greeted or even said hello to, in addition I was treated the same. Obviously, after that experience we left immediately and will never return. I can't speak to how the wine is, but the rest of the experience was a true disappointment. read more

My wife and I visited this winery recently with a gift card I received for my birthday. We encountered several problems. 1. We shared a tasting ($10.00) rather than each of us having our own. On checking out, we were charged for two ($20.00) and I take the responsibility for questioning this. 2. We turned in the gift card ($50.00) and was told if we didn't spend the total amount or more, there would be NO refund. No where was this policy stated. 3. The wine we tasted was inferior. We've been to other wineries in Georgia and we rated this well below the others. We will not be returning. read more

Went to Sharp Mountain on a Friday afternoon. My husband and I were the only ones there, which we are comfortable with. The owner was very nice, and we had good conversations with him. After trying 5 wines each, we bought a glass of Chardonnay (me) and merlot (hubs), and went out to explore the vineyard. Even though it was after harvest time, the views were beautiful. We had a relaxing time, and came home with 7 bottles for our wine stock :) We bought Chardonnay, Collage, a sweet red, and another white. Definitely give it a try if you're not a snooty wine enthusiast! It costs $5 for tasting (4 or 5 tastes), and bottle prices were between $11 and $30ish. You could also buy wine by the glass, and they were around $7/glass. It might be difficult to find using a map search engine (like Google Maps), but once you get up 575, you will see plenty of signs leading you to Sharp Mountain. read more

Stopped by Sharp Mountain after returning from a day of house hunting. Great little place. We too, were the only ones there on a weekday afternoon and our hostess was a friend of the owner. We talked wine and the area and were very comfortable. As a home vintner I always like to check out the working areas. It was very easy here as they are small and their work area is right behind the tasting room. Tasting fee was minimal (I have now fallen into that so called "trap" after speaking with one owner and finding how much Lumpkin County charged him just to be able to pour wine) and seemingly the norm now. Good stuff and we took home a bottle and will return. read more

What a great place to spend the afternoon! We came to the area for a bachelorette weekend and decided to spend Saturday afternoon at the winery. The staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating- we felt right at home. The mountain and vineyard views are beautiful; we sat outside and listened to live music. Also they had a nice selection of wines that were quite tasty, better than some of the "overly sweet" wines that I have had in the north Ga area. Would also make a lovely afternoon date for couples. Visited a few weeks ago on a Saturday with family I was visiting. We were looking for a quiet, relaxing way to spend our afternoon when we saw signs for Sharp Mtn Vineyards. I called out there to ask if they had food & was told about a cheese & salami board we could purchase, but was also informed we were more than welcome to bring our own munchies & that there is a grill we could use too! Nice crowd when we arrived. We went inside and were shown the list of offerings, larger variety than a lot of other vineyards I had been to & that the wines were made from only the grapes grown on their property! We picked our 5 to try & took our tasting outside to enjoy the music, after we finished one sample we would go back in for the next. Have to say, the Pinot Noir was my favorite & the only one grown in Georgia. Such a great selection, and I even tried my cousin's samples & her mine so we could try more wines without doubling up! Was not disappointed by anything we tried & bought a bottle to sit outside. The owners, Ron & Jody are very hands on & enjoy sharing the history of their place. So, sooooooooooooooo loud in a teeny, tiny venue.... parking is scarce as hens teeth.... it's not a viable place for disabled - not readily 'scooter' accessible. I was forced to park on the side of the drive, because there were no spots (of 4) available, then was asked to move (reason of exhaust near vines is ridiculous - there's parking spots just 12 feet away, plus I'd have to move it to leave, just the same!). Not enough seats + all were extremely uncomfortable. Plus, management did not even ask extremely raucous customers to hold it down to reasonable levels... guess drinking & making a scene is acceptable thereat. Kind of disappointing after reading multiple positive reviews about this winery. We weren't expecting California wineries or even chateau elan however this was very sub par. The employee working did not even pour a glass big enough to have a "taste" but she did manage to pour herself a glass 4 times the size as the patrons. No rinsing in between tastings. All 5 tastings maybe equaled a half of a glass anywhere else. Will not be back. read more

Great wine. I prefer dry and bold, which they have several varietals fitting the bill. They also have some nice sweet wines. The vista and grounds are gorgeous and the staff is knowledgeable and kind. Great place for a tasting or to restock your wine. Recommend the Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Cab Franc and Cab Sav.
