I have been processing payroll through Big Fish Payroll Services for exactly a year now and it has been the best in my experience. This is due to their user-friendly and multi-faceted payroll system in addition to their impeccable customer service. My experience processing payroll is for approximately 70-80 employees bi-weekly at a multi-site company. I have used a total of three different payroll companies in my history. All of the payroll companies I have used were good, but Big Fish easily stands out by far as the best. Big Fish makes it easy to not only enter payroll, but also change any data necessary to make my job helping and monitoring employee pay more easy and efficient (i.e. ability to immediately update tax deductions, salary, employee data, medical deductions, even Vacation and Sick accruals). There are so many ways to customize how your payroll is categorized by type of pay, department, location, etc. Big Fish's system allows you to build your own reports, enter a multitude of data to run HR based reports, process manual checks, process gross-up checks - all kinds of things that with other payroll companies you have to ask somebody to do instead of controlling it yourself. However, if you do need to ask someone at Big Fish for help they are FAST and so kind. Karen has been my Big Fish Relationship Manager and she is always responsive to my emails within minutes, almost always to simply say that whatever I requested has already been completed. I honestly couldn't ask for a better contact than Karen, although everyone I've spoken to at Big Fish has been wonderful. When I have had tax questions or things outside of Karen's area, she always directs me immediately to the right person. Everyone has the same level of professionalism and urgency to get my questions answered. In addition to all of that, I've even taken webinars through Big Fish which have been incredibly helpful! They are led by experts at Big Fish along with other HR and business professionals. Big Fish also has other useful tools like help with ACA reporting and employee web access. Depending on your company, they might help you with a lot more than just payroll! I highly recommend Big Fish for your payroll needs. I would never recommend this company to small businesses, hell any businesses. We switched from a major company in June of last year, and since then it has been steadily getting worse. First of all... the fees... OMG what is going on with the fees... We have never paid so much for our payroll service. Then when we ask why there are so many fees and requested where on our paperwork these fees were described, they made one up that was NEVER disclosed in any correspondence with me or our accountant. They have a fee for everything... and I mean.. EVERYTHING! At this point we were a few weeks into services and decided to stick it out for a while. The most recent and biggest gripe was that one of our employees has a child support deduction.... they never bothered to set it up or pay it to the account as they should have... NOR ASK ANY OF US IF WE WANTED A SCHEDULED PAYMENT OF CHILD SUPPORT! All it showed was that our employee was receiving that much less each week as a result. If you know how child support goes... you know this is a big deal to not receive payments in DAMN NEAR ONE YEAR. THEN, when the state contacts our employee, I contact them about it and no one calls me back for a week. SO I CALL AGAIN. Now they tell me that I needed to not only send over the account information and all legal documents ordering this deduction (LIKE I DID WHEN WE STARTED WITH THEM), but I needed to verbally tell them that I wanted them to send it out... What the hell..... ???? So I authorized this, because I was under the impression that they have been hoarding the payments within some company account they had. NO! THEY SENT A DRAFT STRAIGHT TO OUR BANK ACCOUNT BECAUSE THEY HAVEN'T BEEN DEDUCTING IT FROM US LIKE THEY SHOULD HAVE! So on top of all their fees... now I have to pay more fees to the bank since our payroll account is kept very minimal until Payroll is expected to be deducted. THANKS BIG FISH. I cannot tell you how much of a headache this has been... and how much money we paid them for such hellish service for NOT EVEN A YEAR! No one will ever get a glowing recommendation from me or our company accountant. read more

We left ADP about 5 years ago when they were over changing us! We are a small family owned business and we keep an eye on our vendors, every penny can count. BIG FISH HAS :) great service and no hold times when calling to ask a question. Someone gives you answers in an few seconds. You can walk into their office to pick up payroll or ask a question and they always have time for you like you are their only customer. Fantastic. ADP SUCKS BECAUSE :( I switched to ADP and i almost went out of my mind. I fear having to call adp because their phone system is one of those, dial 7 for service, dial 8 for business service,..... Then the adp machine asks for your customer number (like I've got that memorized), then when you put your customer number IT DOESNT RECOGNIZE IT. ADP is a nightmare. Our rep screwed up our cafeteria plan and he didnt implement it. I only found out a year later and by then it was too late to go pretax in 2009. Thanks ADP idiot. Trying to get a report is a 2 day ordeal where they email it to you after a day. Forget ADP... THEY ARE A NIGHTMARE. And beware if you go with ADP, you'll be writing the same sort of review in a month or two... i promise. AVOID ADP AT ALL COSTS. YOUR SANITY IS WORTH IT. read more

We started with Big Fish in 2012. It was good when we started. Recently they got rid of some people and got a new general manager. Since then things have gone a bit south. They aren't as responsive to emails, our accruals have gotten very screwed up due to mistakes on their end. Hand written checks, written with their software did not show up in their YTD numbers. My employees are very confused as am I to know how much time they really have for Vacation. I've made an extensive spreadsheet going back a year, that took up way more time than I should have had to so when I pay a service to do this function. I am not a happy customer any longer and although it is a very painful process to change, that might be our only course of action. read more
