Love Big Heng's! Quality food, excellent service, at an affordable price. I've been going there for five years and they never disappoint.

Order a few dishes to share for lunch. One thing I really liked was the proportions of meat to vegetables. That was in both the almond chicken and beef and snow peas. From there, the food was a letdown. Almond chicken was like boiled chicken and vegetables in a white, cloudy and slimy sauce. Sauce just tasted like chicken, and the slimy texture really took away from the dish. Thankfully in was mostly pooled in the bottom of the container and not completely swimming in it. Sauce on the beef and snow peas had a similar consistency as the almond chicken. This sauce did add more flavor to the dish. Kind of a basic, generically Asian tasting dish. Emperor chicken was kind of there. Whoever was cooking was going heavy of the thickening agent. In the less than 15 minutes it took to get the food to our destination, sauce turned to a jellied sheet in the bottom. Sauce could be picked up in a wiggling sheet/chunks. An extra star for speed and customer service. Our takeout order was ready in less than 15 minutes. Employees were friendly. I really wanted to like Big Heng more than I did. read more

Ok this place gets four stars for a neighborhood Chinese restaurant. It's not gourmet so don't go there expecting that. The portions are very generous for lunch. I ordered appetizers and didn't need to. The flavors of their food and textures of their food aren't perfect, but, for the price you get more than you can eat. The crowd was mostly retired people (it's Az...) and I can see why. You can go have a late lunch skip dinner and be full. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a value. It wasn't disgusting but it also wasn't pleasant. They keep their red wine by the kitchen so it was all warm & gross. I practically had to force the lady to take it off of our bill because I only took one sip and was repulsed. I should've taken that as a warning because the wings were bland, they were out of soup, & our entrees tasted weird. The chicken meal I ate tasted like they fried the chicken in old grease & then tossed sauce on it. The old grease was all I could taste & it made me queasy. Never again. read more

Why is it that all the best Chinese restaurants are the little hole-in-the-walls? We have been coming here for almost 30 years because it's quite simply the BEST Chinese food in the valley. The service is amazing and fast! The prices are extremely fair and our family of four can come in and have a delicious sit down dinner for the same price as going to a fast food place....AND have leftovers ! We haven't been here in 10 years since we moved out of the area, but decided we had to make the trip over to enjoy ourselves tonight. Their menu is pretty large and I liked that when ordering the pu pu platter they made it for three us of. Huge egg rolls, ribs, wings, chicken. All so delicious! Perfect crunch to the egg roll. My son ordered the shrimp noodle soup, I had egg drop soup and the happy Family, while my husband had Kung pao three. Everything came out perfect. Even better than I remember. I was even jealous of my sons shrimp noodle soup. It looked amazing. I can see that being s great soup for when you're feeling ill with the fresh veggies and broth. Sunday brunch. Menu is for lunch, but you can all for a standard dinner menu. Seating at 1 PM was immediate and service was prompt. The food is excellent, fresh and very tasty! This place is our to go Chinese restaurant whenever we crave for Chinese food. They have a lot of options that are not deep fried. The food tasted very good and the price is affordable. On top of everything, they have a very friendly staff and they always make sure if everything are ok and that if we need anything else in a way that they are not annoying us. We ordered takeout and each dish was wonderful! Everything was piping hot and fresh, ready for pickup in 10 minutes. I got sweet and sour chicken and the sauce came on the side so the fried chicken was still perfectly crunchy by the time we got home! Definitely our neighborhood go to from now on! read more

The prices on line are wrong, sauce leaked all over the bag and they put fried noodles all over the food, no where in the description said dry noodles, would of better on the side, instead of having to pick them off, definitely better quality when you dine in.. read more

Driving down from Surprise, as I entered Big Heng's, I was greeted by the friendly staff. I have been looking for a Chinese restaurant where the flavors were as close to home as possible, before I moved here. I asked a month ago on Restaurants Review, who has the best food? While everyone has their favorites, I had already tried many of the suggestions, and was not impressed. Today was the day to try Big Heng's, and I was not disappointed! While it was not exactly like home, it is definitely the best. The portions were plentiful and tasty. I had ordered, egg rolls (great!), egg drop soup (excellent!), fried wontons (great!), vegetable foo young ( while made differently that I am used to, it was great!), and shrimp chow mein (great!). The only thing I would say, is the bean sprouts in the chow mein, tasted a little like they came from a can, but it was still very good! Placed this order and it was ready in about 10 minutes!! A couple years ago these guys stopped using chicken breast for their chicken fried rice or at least we assumed it was just for the fried rice. I stayed clear for a couple years thinking it was just due to the chicken shortage and the pandemic etc. Well I ordered the chicken chop Suey today thinking it's gonna be the way It always has been everywhere I've had it in several states, and to my dismay, It is all dark meat not one tiny morsel of white meat chicken. I can't eat it I guess I should've called first instead of assuming it was just the fried rice. Wong's down the street is doing this as well. It's a shame these two places were my favorites and I really wish that they would specify this on the menu. read more

If you have a big appetite, Big Heng does not disappoint. The portions indeed are huge. The Yelp reviews here were accurate. I have never been an Egg Drop Soup fan, but because of my daughter's love for this American Chinese creation and the reviews on the soup here, I decided to try the place out. Once again, it did not disappoint. I like this soup so much that I will come back here to carry out this comfort food for sick family members. It was simply delicious. Don't forget to add pepper. Tonight, we ordered the #1 Dinner Combo with Sweet and Sour Pork, Mooshu Pork Crepes, and Hunan Chicken. They portions are huge. The egg roll was standard American Chinese fare. The Crab Puff was tasty, little crab, lots of cream cheese. The lo mein had a lovely texture, but lacked distinction. The fried rice was okay. The Sweet and Sour Pork had too much batter and the sauce was a dousing of the store bought sauce that they serve with the egg roll. Because of the photographs, I thought the Mooshu Pork would taste more like Peking Duck. The crepe was authentic and so was the sauce that it came with. The filling however was a salty stir-fry of scallions, bean sprouts, fried egg and strips of non-descript pork. Finally, the Hunan Chicken had great ingredients but the gravy was overwhelmingly soya sauce and corn starch. They honored my request for no MSG or Monosodium Glutamate The servers were fantastic, mostly Cantonese speakers. I felt like I was back in Hong Kong. They were friendly and helpful. When I requested to go boxes, they insisted on packing it up for me. They give me tips on where to get good dim sum. I really wanted to rate Big Heng higher. The service and soup was 5 stars. The rest of the main dishes were on a 2-3 star level. Hence, the 3 star rating. I will definitely return for the Egg Drop Soup. read more
