This review is LONG overdue. Crawford's is the go-to spot for us for so many things: watching sports games on a Saturday, dinner after a day at work, "one last drink" after a celebratory dinner... They have incredible food, a lot of which is homemade. My go to are the hummus and veggie burger if I'm trying to be healthier but the pot roast nachos and taters tots are out of this world. The people who work at Crawford's are what makes the place. They are some of the hardest workers, attentive, and take the time to get to know people who come in. Katya is such a doll and always makes us feel at home. It's truly a great neighborhood bar with great staff, drinks and food! read more

Nice sports bar located in the heart of Avondale right off Milwaukee. It has a lot of TVs, so made for a great spot to watch several March Madness games last Saturday. It has a really good craft beer list for a sports bar, with lots of styles and breweries represented. Plus the usual lineup of food options, we got some good cheese curds. Service was quick and all the servers were all nice. Plenty of seating available, either at the bar or at tables. I'd certainly be open to coming back. read more

Have passed by this place. Multiple times. Finally decided to schedule a meeting with the Co-worker and boy was not disappointed. Great Service variety of drinks, and the food was delicious. Had an enjoyable late night dinner at this bar. We were fresh off Happy Hour and needed some food to soak up the booze. I ordered the Pesto Grilled Chicken Sandwich with tots. Tots were hot and yummy. The sandwich was good but my bottom bread was soggy. I am unsure how this happen. However the sandwich was good. Just had the best experience here! We had the best server/bartender-Kate-she literally manned the whole bar single handily slinging drinks and serving every table. Very impressive. First off hats of to the 2 women employees who were working a busy Saturday dinner rush. Not only were they the only 2 servers for both inside and outside, but they were the bartenders as well. So, although they took a little bit to get to each table, they did their best. Pretty decent craft beer list. I ordered the mini sliders and then paid for a side of fruit. Fruit was cantaloupe, strawberries, and grapes. Ok I ate a few of my friend's tots as well and they were pretty good. My friend and I felt bad for the 2 employees so we went inside to pay the check because they were so busy. Too bad they didn't have those handheld things for quicker service. 3.5 stars We live relatively close by and every time we've passed it commented on how nice it looked from the outside. It's a sports bar, but they've done a great job with curb appeal. The inside is a lot of exposed brick, Edison lights, and TVs. My husband and friends were seeing a show up the street, so we stopped in for dinner. The place has a decent menu with more than the average bar fare and a decent sized drink menu. I ordered the veggie burger with a side of mac and cheese. The burger was ok; very mushy due to the sweet potatoes, the cheese helps keep it together a bit. The burger had pickled onions and something called diablo sauce. The vinegary onions and sweet potatoes were the predominant flavors and I couldn't taste any of the diablo sauce. Based on the name, I assume the sauce was intended to have a kick, but I didn't get any. Kudos though for not doing an impossible burger. The mac and cheese was fine, creamy, but no depth of flavor in the cheese. I'd come back, but food wise there are a number of places on this stretch that outperform them. read more

Amazing chicken sandwich for dinner with possibly the best kind of fries know to humankind. The mac and cheese grilled cheese, while enough calories to last you a week, is an amazing option too. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked great. Only complaint was it was super loud in there for not a really crowded night but that was just because of a few guys at the bar and the TVs I think were louder to drown them out. Polite service and great beer selection too. If you're thinking of getting the chicken sandwich but you're worried the sriracha sauce will be too hot don't worry, it just has a little kick and a ton of flavor. Crawford's Food & Spirit is actually located on School Street, which is the side street that butts into Milwaukee and Pulaski (which is the "new" name for Crawford Avenue - get it?). This establishment might be easy to miss as you have to go past a CVS parking lot if you are coming from Pulaski. The one time I went to Crawford's, it was REALLY LOUD in there as they were blasting live feed of a very significant college sports event. The food seems to be a cut above what is served at a typical sports bar. I ordered the Boss Hog, a savory handful of a sandwich stacked with bacon, carnitas and ham. I upgraded my side order to be poutine, and it is a massive pile of fries topped with veal gravy, cheese curds and carnitas. My love really enjoyed her Surf N' Turf Burrito which also came with a bunch of fries. The burrito is filled with steak, shrimp tempura, crab mix, and avocado, and is cut in two to show off all of these yummy ingredients. We did enjoyed our leftovers the next day. Our other peeps enjoyed the Mac & Cheese Grilled Cheese sandwich with tater tots, and a plate of buffalo wings. We quaffed selections from the listings of beers and cocktails. We would not mind going back to Crawford's, but hopefully it will not be quite as loud the next time. read more

Decided on the flautas and the Philly egg rolls. Flautas we're pretty decent, but the texture was different. They include potatoes in the filling. While I appreciate the potato I feel like it made the flautas one note. Everything was soft, like a dumpling. I didn't care for the egg rolls at all. Great place to go with some friends when you're looking for a bit of crowd on the weekend. It gets busy but is never uncomfortably packed. A group of us came here last night after going to Axe Throwing in Portage Park not far away. The staff is easily some of the nicest and most helpful people, ever! Very attentive and friendly. We were also celebrating one of our friend's birthdays so we brought a cake and they were able to put it away in their fridge until we were ready for it. They were also very accommodating. Since we had such a large group, they had to rearrange a bunch of tables and chairs and they were able to do it with no problem. We ordered a ton of food and drinks and they still let us split our bill into as many checks as we wanted which most restaurants don't do or don't like doing. One of the waitresses even cut the cake for us and packaged it up to go when we were done. I can't really vouch for the food but there were mixed reviews among our group. Some said that their food was just OK, others really liked it. So I guess it depends on what you get. I had the Beef and Barley soup and it was not bad but I just recently had surgery so I can't consume much food right now. So I only took 2 half spoon bites. They actually took it off my bill which was really nice. My friends seemed to REALLY like the beer and were getting refills all night. This is my home bar and I bring all my friends here for lunch or drinks but seeing the bartenders almost always have their mask OFF or exposing their nose is so unacceptable. I appreciate that the seating has been situated so as to allow for distancing but none of that matters if the staff is walking about rawdogging covid all day. Today is the official opening day at this lovely neighborhood gem. Located in the Avondale area of the city, which is basically Milwaukee/Pulaski/School. From the moment we saw the front of this establishment, we could tell right away that this place will be the place to be. Just as impressive... the decor and the ambiance! (Outdoor patio seating in summer will be a plus) Here you will find an extensive craft beer selection, located on draught as well as in bottles & cans. Delightfully, there are 3 wines on tap to boot...sangria, red and a rose. You will also find high end spirits plus your tried and true regular beers and and liquors. The two of us somehow managed to slip in on a recent Saturday night, securing a decent spot at the bar with no wait. Let me tell you this place was busy, the noise level was enough to drown out the music, although loud, I really liked the atmosphere. Let me also say that the staff was on top of it, nicely coordinated, friendly, ample. Although we were in no hurry, we were in and out in around an hour, service was quick. It was a nice meal, I enjoyed the Pot Roast Sandwich which does taste like pot roast, an interesting sandwich. I gave the "New York Sour" a try, not exactly my drink but I enjoyed the curiosity of trying a new drink. The beer selection seems awesome, a great place for a drink and sandwich. Windows open weather permitting for street vibe (and fresh air). The room is square vs long and thin, which I liked as it provides an open feel and more room between guests. The interior is decorated well and has warmer feel. Ceiling and a the bar foot rest are patterned. The light bulbs cast a warm orange glow. The interior appeared well kept in the dining and bathroom. Staff was available for another round without being intrusive at our visit. Food is middling decent. It's no a gastro-pub. It's a straight up menu, uncomplicated. Beer list is middle of the road craft beer. I think a gap might be a craft dart (like an oatmeal or coffee stout). Recommended for a casual place on the NW side. read more

This bar and grill opened up in my neighborhood not too long ago so I decided to check it out one night to catch an NBA game. This was a weeknight so it wasn't too crowded but not completely empty. Anyways, I was in awe of their extensive craft beer drafts, as well as their cans and bottles list. Since this is also a 'grill', they got a full food menu. I didn't check it out, but from what I saw on other people's plate, it all looked quite delicious. I probably would have given this place a 3 star rating because of the slow service, but because the bartenders were so hospitable and apologetic, I had to bump it up a star. One day I looked it up and decided to come here for dinner with my fiancé, and it was such a great experience! It has restaurant/bar feel and all indoor seating is on high tables. The front windows/doors all open up so that it becomes an atmosphere joined with the outdoors and it's a really nice time when it's sunny and beautiful out. I ordered the steak sandwich and the steak was cooked to perfection. My fiancé ordered the bacon salad and it was a huge portion and also very good. We each got a cocktail and enjoyed them as well. Average price for cocktails but they are decently sized and taste very good. I don't think this is the best place for families. I'm happy there is another restaurant in the Avondale neighborhood. Décor is terrific and I have somewhere to watch sporting events that are on cable. I had a cheeseburger and it was good. Some street parking. Close to the Milwaukee Avenue and Pulaski Avenue bus stops. It was busy this particular weekend afternoon, which made it easier to find a good spot at the bar to watch baseball and football. There are several spots in the restaurant where you could have a conversation and be bothered with TVs. I will be back! read more
