One of the best Mexican Spots I've been to in the Bakersfield area. Portions are extremely generous and food is a 10/10!

Such a beautiful name LUNA. So this was my first time coming…read moreto this place. I really enjoyed the ambiance really beautiful. The service was great and the food was incredible! This place gets a 10/10 even though the coconut horchata was not all that. The fish was cooked perfectly, the veggies weren't soggy and the rice was amazing. I picked my fish based on what my seated neighbor received, it just looked so delicious and it was! Everything about this place is fabulous. All the dishes that came out looked like high quality dishes.

There are a lot of tables and seating between the two rooms inside and the completely shaded outdoor patio, it doesn't look as big from the outside as it truly is. The decor is really nice and earthy with tons of real vine plants, a mix of fake, cute mirrors and wall decor, and cool basket lighting. We went at the tail-end of lunch, and it was busy, but there were still a few tables open (I recommend making reservations). I ordered a raspberry drop (not overly sweet so I loved it) and my son ordered a triple berry hibiscus refresher, it was so good! For lunch, he ordered the garlic+parmesan cream pasta with chicken and not only was it scrumptious, but he had enough leftovers for another meal! I had the fish tacos- they were excellent, the pickled onions on top *chef's kiss* made them superb. I would only recommend asking for the tortillas to be doubled because they fell apart. The I'll be returning for sure with friends, and a date night with my hubby.

I stopped by here for lunch recently, at Los Tacos (Bakersfield, California), because this place…read moreseemed nice from the reviews on Yelp. When I arrived, I glanced through their menu and decided to get the "2 Hardshell Tacos" meal, with a side of rice and beans. I wanted to get one taco with chicken and one taco with beef, but I could not do that. The cashier told me that this was not allowed, and the two tacos had to have the same type of meat. Strange, I thought...I don't see why it makes any difference. Slightly disappointed, I decided on getting both tacos with beef. As I prepared to pay, I then realized that they charge a small fee for their customers who use a credit card. I was a little annoyed with this as well; so, I then decided to pay with cash. After getting a Dr. Pepper as my drink with my meal, I sat in one of their booths inside and waited for my order. The cleanliness inside was just ok. As I waited, I realized that this location does not have an internal restroom for their customers after one of their customers asked to use it. The cashier said that their restroom was outside, around the side of the building. After getting my meal, it appeared appetizing. The tacos were quite delicious, but the rice and beans were just ok. I also got some extra sauces to spice it up a bit. After departing, I noticed the restroom doors on the side of the building; They looked pretty ghetto. The outside landscaping was nicely maintained, but I was annoyed by the group of homeless people that were just camping on the grass outside this location under the trees. If I owned this business, I would ask the city to remove these individuals because they are not only an eyesore, their loitering presents a safety concern and an annoyance for their customers. It may even turn some customers away from this location as a result. Overall, the food here is pretty good, but in my opinion, this location needs to make a few improvements to deserve a higher than average rating.

3/5 I really wanted to love this wet burrito. On paper, it…read moresounded like a comfort food home run -- ground beef, smothered in sauce, cheesy goodness. But the execution left me wanting more. The portion was generous, and it definitely looked the part when it arrived. But the first bite told a different story. The ground beef was barely seasoned, just kind of... there. The red sauce covering the burrito didn't have much kick or personality, and the cheese was melted but didn't bring enough richness to pull everything together. There was no real layering of flavor -- just meat, tortilla, and sauce, without any extra textures or contrast. No beans, no rice, no crunch, no fresh toppings to brighten it up. It wasn't bad -- just incredibly plain. Like a meal someone made in a rush without tasting it first. That said, the service was solid, and I know some folks prefer their burritos on the simpler side. But for me, this one needed some love -- maybe some spice, onions, cilantro, or even a squeeze of lime would've helped wake it up. I'll give it another shot, but next time I'm trying a different protein or asking for extra toppings. The drive thru was clean and the staff was friendly :)

If you don't like spicy, definitely ask for salsa on the side so you can control the heat factor. This location is right off the 99, and we particularly appreciated the outdoor eating areas since we were traveling with our dog. It has a patio with table umbrellas right off the building and also two tree-shaded picnic tables along a grassy area next to the parking lot that was was perfect on an 80-degree March day. It does seem a little pricey at first, but then we realized that the combos include a drink. One also has to factor in the fast-food minimum wage in California that is higher than for restaurant servers. Overall, we would stop again when traveling through.

The tortillas tasted like they'd been sitting out since last Tuesday, and the whole thing had less flavor than plain cardboard. If this is what "fresh" tastes like, I'm officially concerned. Even my napkins looked more appetizing. I came hungry and left wondering if I should've just eaten the salsa packets instead. Definitely not coming back unless they start serving food with moisture.

The place is inside a gas station mini-market. HOWEVER, the Burrito was not worth the $12 price tag that went with it. The Chili Verde had great flavor, but cost $12. The pork in the Chili Verde was very tender, but cost $12. The ingredients added to the Burrito were fresh, but cost $12. The Burrito was half the size of other ones I have paid the same price for and they were worth the $12. This one was not. I have paid $150 for a meal, and not complained, but I want what I pay for. When my mind continues to think of the price I pay for something, it must not be worth it. I do not know whether or not to recommended this place. The food is good. The prices are not.

To give an idea of the cost: a two-item combo was $17.95, a kids bean and cheese burrito was $5.95 (not including the $3.95 apple juice), and the shrimp cocktail was $20.95. They also charge extra for sour cream (about $0.75). I'm guessing some of the pricing may reflect the location on this side of town. As for the food itself, it was solid and pretty standard for Mexican food. I ordered the shrimp cocktail, which came served in a huge margarita glass (super cute presentation) and it was loaded with shrimp. It was delicious, and I finished every last drop. My husband ordered the enchilada dinner special, which is his usual favorite, and my child had the bean and cheese burrito. Overall, this is a good spot for an occasional meal, but probably not somewhere I'd visit every week because of the prices. One tip: if you have those local high school football discount cards, use them here. They can save you about $5 on a $35 purchase.

I normally don't do this, but La Imperial Taco truly deserves some praise…read more I've always believed people go to restaurants for different reasons sometimes because they don't feel like cooking, sometimes because they're out of town and want a good home-cooked meal. And sometimes... life is just heavy, and you need a moment. When I looked this place up, Google said they closed at 8:00 PM. But when I got to the door, the hours posted were different. I walked in at 6:47 PM just 13 minutes before closing. A young lady greeted me with nothing but kindness. No complaints. She simply asked if I'd be dining in or taking food to go. I'll admit, I hesitated a bit... wondering, "Is this going to be fresh? Is it going to be hot?" To my surprise it was everything. I'm not from California. My job brings me here often, but I recently moved to Arizona from El Paso, Texas, and I've struggled to find a truly authentic Mexican spot with good salsa. But this place? Hands down, they delivered. When I asked for salsa, she didn't hesitate she asked, "Which ones would you like? Green, red, or guacamole?" I just smiled and said, "All three." And she gladly brought them out. I ordered the barbacoa plate three fresh tortillas, rice, and refried beans. When it came out, everything was piping hot, even the tortillas. I paired it with a piña soda, and every bite was full of flavor. The barbacoa was tender, rich in a red sauce, and came with all the sides....onions, cilantro, and lemon. Absolutely delicious. But what meant the most had nothing to do with the food. I've been having a tough day. I lost my mom in March of 2025, and today was one of those days where I just felt it heavier. I'd only had three hours of sleep. I walked in carrying that weight... and I left feeling just a little lighter. They didn't rush me, even though they were about to close. They didn't hover. They just gave me space to sit, breathe, and enjoy the moment. Before I left, I gave her a $20 tip just a small way to say thank you. Because sometimes the smallest acts of kindness mean everything. I believe in supporting local businesses, and if you're ever in Bakersfield, I highly recommend stopping by La Imperial Taco. The food is amazing hot, flavorful, and made with care but more importantly, the kindness here is real. I didn't catch her name, but I want to thank her from the bottom of my heart. You never know when someone needs that kind of warmth. I come to Bakersfield at least once a year and this will always be my go-to spot for Mexican food. Thank you.

It's a nice little restaurant. The counter server took our order. Our first choice was the wet burrito, but we were told they were out of wet burritos. That seemed a bit odd, but, oh well, we'll have the regular burrito. Our protein option was the Pastor pork. We sat down for the few minutes it took to get our food. The booths along the wall weren't that comfortable. The chairs were. The food came and, it was pretty typical Mexican food. It was tasty and plentiful. This is a good place to go if you feel like Mexican food and you're in a hurry, (or, get it as takeout)
