I've been coming here for about three months now, and the tacos never disappoint they're packed with flavor! Today, I ordered asada nachos and the portion was generous enough to feed two people. Parking can be a bit tricky, and there isn't much of a dine area, but the food more than makes up for it. We ended up eating in the car no lie, they were amazing! They came with nacho cheese, beans, lettuce, shredded cheese, and a tasty sauce (maybe more, but I couldn't keep track because they were just that good). I have been coming to this place for over 15 years and I will never return again. When you start getting hassled because you asked for two tiny cups of salsa and they say that that's too much they want to charge an extra dollar. I used to come here a few years ago and I remember it being a good afrordable late night spot. Recently we needed food kinda late in the area, so we gave it a shot. I expected things to be a little bit more expensive with inflation, but things were about double. I figured that was fine with me if the food is delicious and portions are good at least, but then we got our food and portions were not really changed at all. I ordered an asada torta for $12. It was really light on the meat and heavy lettuce. I just think for $12 at that point its more expensive than a sandwich from most businesses in the area and smaller. First off wanted to say anybody looking to come to this taco truck needs to know all of their menu items prices increased by at least $2 so if they're thinking they're going to get a $7 plate of nachos look out it's $9. Second the customer service here has never been good and it hasn't changed the heavy-set guy who takes my order every time has an attitude and has a look on his face like he doesn't want to do his job. When I asked him to put the extra meat I was trying to get on my nacho plate on the side he said that's not possible. Reason I asked is because I never get extra meat when I pay for it forcing me to have to order a taco to make sure that I get my extra meat instead of buying extra meat. Third the nachos here used to be stacked to the top of the rim which is why I used to say these are the best nachos in town. The nachos you see here in this picture arent filled the way they used to be. For almost $10 a plate I expect them to be filled to the top every time. This is my favorite taco truck in Bakersfield. I consider it the original (O.G.) Bakersfield taco truck. Over the years, taco trucks have popped up everywhere. This one is still the best in town in my opinion. They also have a building restaurant at a different location. I think the truck's food is fresher and better. I usually get the asada burrito with everything. The tacos here are really good too. The quality of the asada is consistently good. No nasty fat or gristle in the meat and the flavor is great. This is a huge problem that I encounter with other taco places/trucks. The other ingredients (rice, beans) also taste fresh. The area where this truck is located has gotten worse over the years due to the high volume of homeless people and the nearby seedy motel. I just get my food to go and get out of there quickly. As of today's date 05-23-19, the price of an asada burrito is $8.32. Thats with tax and everything. Considering how good the burrito tastes, I would say that is a fair price. Can you find a cheaper or bigger burrito at another truck? Sure, but I bet it won't be as good. I really like the radish slices, roasted chili pepper, lemon slice, green onion, and salsa cup that comes with each burrito. (See my photo). I like to squeeze a little lemon and salsa into each bite. Mmmmmmm! So good! Then I bite the pepper, radish, and green onion throughout. A couple of times, they didn't give me a chili pepper or lemon or something. If I don't notice until I get home, I get real bummed cause I gotta have it all to really enjoy it. So don't forget that stuff if you are listening El Taco Loco employees! I had the Nacho loco and a taco. The food was not the best, my nachos were smother in sauce and lettuce & just "not good" I actually discarded them. The taco was pretty good. In the pass I've had burritos from this truck and they have been good. The ambiance is the Shell parking lot across from Panama Walmart, so I take my food to go. The service is good. Food quality is good , but this business should be ashamed to provide the quantity they do against the inflated prices, dont waste your money. We all get there is inflation, so raise your prices, but to flat ass skimp on the food , i.e. two table spoons of meat in a bowl filled full of rice , is ridiculous. Their Breakfast Burritos are the heezy fo sheezy my neeezy!!! I get the bacon and eggs burrito and it is so delicious! They are juicy! and with their salsa and serrano peppers add extra flavor and heat! They also have pastrami breakfast burritos. I've also had the carne asada burritos that come with rice and beans, hit and miss.... both burritos sometimes are huge, other times they are small. When you ask for anything extra they will charge you but you won't be able to check unless you eat it there. If the manager sees this please step up your employees customer service. This place is conveniently located close to the freeway and the gas station and open late, however that's as much perks as you'll get coming here. Food is is below average. Costumer service is awful. You over price your tacos I'm already skeptical I hit this place on the way up to NorCal on a stop that was GOING to be Denny's breakfast. I'm actually glad I found this. Tacos. What's not to like about tacos. You can probably get tacos from 100 different places around town (there's a challenge) and you will probably like most of them. Well, maybe I should say "I would like most of them!" ;) Obviously I like tacos. :) And a taco truck gets a couple extra points from me. A 24-hour truck? Even better! I like all of the meat options they have and in any form they make them. Wether it be tacos, burritos, tortas, whatever. I like it. But tacos are the basic and best form of eating. Tortilla, meat, onion, cilantro, and salsa. Add a squirt of lemon and a bite of a torched jalapeño and you're good to go! This truck has tasty meats, good salsas, and they're fast too! Even if their phone number doesn't work, I'll frequent this location since the food is good and the location is convenient. No need to wait for "taco Tuesday" to have tacos when you have a 24-hour truck down the street! read more

I really, really hate to downgrade one of my Bako staples but, times are changin'. My last two visits here have been off. The tacos and tortas are now wrapped in a foil and paper instead of a styrofoam tray. All the trapped heat will make your meal soggy on your drive home. They no longer include grilled green onions, radishes, or salsa on the side. That's now an extra charge. The meat flavors are just...off. Like it's been more gringo-ized and blander. It didn't taste bad BUT, it didn't taste like the torta I knew. Dagger to my heart, El Taco Loco 2. I used to risk my safety to visit you at your shady location for the tacos and tortas I loved. The pastor wasn't on the spit, but that doesn't ever stop me from trying them. I'll say these are the best non spit pastor tacos I've ever had. Big chunks of pork fully cooked on a flat grill that are nice and tender in the middle, with crispy charred edges from the grill that gave it added flavor...just how pastor should be cooked... spit or not. I don't eat much cabeza, to tell the truth, I've only had it a handful of times.. a couple times in mexico city, d.f, and the yucatan area.. I'm no pro but these guys were right up there. The texture isn't as gelatinous as you'd expect from a cabeza taco..the texture was like a much softer, more tender version of beef brisket. Then again, I live on the westside and have ventured out east only a couple times. I have yet to head towards Highland Parque and surrounding areas.....don't judge me. PS - Their motto is "fresh mex." Don't let this fool you. This is authentic mexican style tacos. The fresh part is right though... and you can tell because their tacos cost 1.75 a pop.
