This was our 1st time visiting Mr Avocados. I've seen reviews and wanted to try it. It was so delicious. On this visit I got the shrimp taco combo. I loved everything about this plate. Shrimp was seasoned just perfect and was packed with all the veggies. My husband got the 3 Taco combo and he loved it too. Meat had good flavor and was tender. Very good food! I ordered the lengua fries with everything. Didn't take a picture of the food before I scarfed it down..it looked like any other order of loaded fries you can get. But I could only give 4 stars because this is the first place that served fries in a paper to-go plate?? Lol. My wife and I have been regular customers here in Bakersfield and used to enjoy coming almost every day. Recently the staff told us we're only allowed to take three salsas per order, even when we ordered eight tacos. What's confusing is that they're known for having a self-serve salsa bar. If customers aren't supposed to take more than three, why have a self-serve salsa bar in the first place? We've also started to feel like our presence isn't very welcomed lately based on how we've been treated. Because of this experience, my family and I will no longer be coming here, which is disappointing since we used to support this place often. read more

Your sister store is not listed, so I will write a review here. I've always go to the White Lane location until today. Although the signed said open at 9:00 a.m. the door was locked at 9:30. You can see a lady at the counter and they didn't answer the phone when I called. We ended up going to another restaurant and will not be back. The hospitality was friendly and the restaurant was so fresh and calm inside with outdoor seating as well. Not sure about this place, as it says there's an owner change on the window entering into the business. It's possible the food isn't what it's been in the past. This place had much higher rating considering what I got. Establishment was clean and the staff was nice and attentive, but nothing special as far as the business is concerned. Same ole, taco spot mentality. A bar full of salsa, lemon and radishes. As far as the food goes, I had 3 tacos, to try them out. Sadly they were just OK. Nothing really stood up and above the competition. The fish taco was good, filled with cabbage, tomatoes, onions, cilantro and a sauce. It was tasty and maybe slightly above others I've tasted, but nothing to warrant return for same. Tri Tip taco was priced higher than the pastor taco, but was the least liked taco of the three. Meat was ok, kinda bland taste, minimal seasoning and nothing special! Pastor taco was pretty good, and the best of the three for me! Pretty flavorful, good seasoning on the meat and with a little green salsa it was elevated above the others. Was it amazing?!?! No, but was I unhappy with my meal?!?! No. All and all, I think in the world of the high competition, Mr. Avocado's is just OK. Nothing really standing out to make me want to return. I've been to so many places, where one bite and you're like, WOW....Unfortunately, this isn't one of those places. We were just passing thru, traveling with our dog and needed tacos for lunch. Found this incredible place. Delicious food, excellent service and attractive and spotless restaurant. I had an asada taco and a tri tip taco, both wonderful. My hubby had 3 asada tacos with rice and beans, he loved every bite. Party of 2 @ 2:00pm Less than $20 (no drinks included) Restaurant is in a shopping center with plenty of parking. Honey ordered a Hot Cheetos Taco and I enjoyed the California Burrito with chili verde. Honey gave the taco a thumbs up! A generous amount of cheese and Cheetos on a fresh and warm corn tortilla. We took the order to go and he said, "I should have ordered another one." Oh well. My burrito was amazingly fresh and delicious. Wait, is my nana working in the kitchen? The chili verde tasted perfectly homemade and the potatoes cut and cooked just like my nana used to make them. Beware, the burrito is HUGE! Cut it in half and save the rest for a snack. Grab some salsa from the salsa bar. Of course I had to try the hotest one and oh yes, it's delicious. Customer service was friendly and our order was prepared within 10 minutes. Food is good the staff was rude. I asked for sauce because one of the containers is a bit further back I go to hand her the mini container she hands me the spoon to pour it in. Ok maybe I could have been more clear I have back issues she then mentions the word Pendejo right after my question. When I was done eating I asked her what the word meant it means stupid person I call her out on it regardless you don't use those words in a establishment I then ask her if it was directed towards me I know it was she says I would be honest with you. Overall the food and portions were good. The shrimp tacos had a sauce that was a little spicy for me but I'm a guerita so there's that. The Tri tip tacos were stupid good. Very flavorful and not dry at all. Exceeded expectations by far. Rice and beans were good. My son said his burrito was delicious and HUGE. The asada fries could have had more fries, seemed a little skimpy, but still overall good! They do charge an extra fee if you don't pay cash (though many places do). I wish they served Coke and not Pepsi products but at least they have Coke in a can or bottle as well as jarritos, beer and Gatorade to choose from if you don't like Pepsi (like me! ) We will definitely be back to try the breakfast burritos because Bakersfield lacks good breakfast burritos! read more

Been here twice now and both times I got great food at a very reasonable price (for California that is). 1st time I went it was on a Sunday and they were the only eating place open in the area at the time that wasn't some burger chain. Got the Cali burrito and LOVED IT! Not sure what they put in their avocado sauce but I'm def down with it. I work down the street and just realized this wasn't the old La Villa anymore (hasn't been for a while) so, I definitely had to try! I called my order in and the gal at the register was polite and professional. I ordered the 2 taco combo with rice and beans. The meat was their shredded beef (tad bit dry) but I should have read reviews and got their tri-tip or carne asada instead. Tacos come with lettuce, tomato's, sour cream & cheese. If you don't like any of this, definitely request upon ordering because it automatically comes on your tacos. I didn't mind at all because I would have requested the following anyways. The beans were eh, they lacked flavor in my opinion and weren't as refried as they looked under the cheese. The rice was great! They really killed it with their salsas, they are full of flavor and the red definitely packs a punch if you're looking for that delicious burn, and the green has that perfect lemon-y flavor with a little heat. They have a salsa bar, with their 3 salsa flavors, lemon, pickled carrots and jalapeños, so you can grab as much as you need and self serve fountain soda machine. It's a winner for me! Saw this place had recently opened so I took a trip over for lunch to try it out. Couldn't help myself so I went for the hot Cheetos burrito. First and foremost this burrito is HUGE, it's larger than a Chipotle burrito, kind of blew me away. The ingredients were good, I felt like a little bit more seasoning on the rice/beans would have helped but just a touch of salt did the trick. The staff was very friendly and fast which I appreciate when in a rush on lunch. One thing that really stood out to me that I appreciate is the person that took my order asked me "is everything on that ok?" Sometimes when you're in a rush or just going through the daily motions we forget about things like that and it helps me reset quickly and make sure there isn't anything on it that I didn't want. It's a small thing servers can do that mean a lot. In conclusion, great food, huge portions, friendly and attentive staff, quick service and an overall great experience. They have a small salsa bar as well and the red salsa is delicious! It perfectly complimented my burrito. I'll be a repeat customer for sure. read more

Pretty decent Mexican spot compared to others in Oildale area. Only had limited time for lunch and decided on this spot. The ladies are really sweet, we're double checking the completed orders, and attended me well. I called in my order and it was ready within the next 6 min that it took for me to arrive and pick up. I saved half of my torta and was so excited to eat it after work. Sadly, my boss cleaned out the fridge and it got thrown away! She meant well though (keeping our fridge clean). Tried the hot Cheetos burrito. Pretty good, but it was kind of odd that it was whole pieces of Cheetos. I guess I'm used to places crushing up the Cheetos and evenly sprinkling it throughout the burrito. With this burrito, not every bite had Cheetos since it was whole pieces. Still good flavor though. And a pretty big and filling burrito. Tried the wet burrito, but it was actually pretty dry since there isn't much to the inside and the sauce on the outside doesn't fully drench the burrito. The sprinkled cheese on top also never melted. I would get the hot Cheetos burritos again, but definitely not the wet burrito. read more

The Asada has good flavor. Mr Avocado had all the markings of a quality Taco shop. By all appearances, it's a deconstructed Taco truck stuck in a space in a strip mall. That's where the experience ended. Somehow, they managed to roll my California burrito (I am still hesitant to accept French fries in a burrito, but the cashier recommended it), even though they clearly didn't heat the tortilla sufficiently. The fries were cold, too, and bland. The Asada was lukewarm. They have a salsa bar. None of the salsas had any heat to speak of, and the flavor was unremarkable. Salsa cups are thimble-sized, which is fine, since you won't want more than that anyway. You can't fit the canned sliced jalapeños in the cup, but they have a solution.... cellophane sandwich bags. It's food. It's not interesting food, or really good food, but the place is clean, and the people are friendly. If you want a burrito in a clean, friendly environment, and you don't really care about the burrito, this is the place. read more

Today I came in to get tacos. A few minutes of reviewing the menu I decided what to order. Both the cook and the cashier were sitting down eating or on break. Their reaction to my visit was so uncomfortable, the cashier was not welcoming at all. She acted as if I was walking into her house and opening her fridge and that was not the case. She took my order quickly with very little communication and after that she went back to sit down. I made myself salsa to and sat down after that at the same spot that she was at before. Meanwhile a homeless man walked in and used the soda machine. The cooked walked up and started my order. A few minutes after my order was done and left on the counter by the cook. I was shocked it was done quickly like it was, the shock of the unwelcoming visit was like a i said uncomfortable and unwelcoming. I got up and picked up my bag left, whole time Im forgetting my salsa at the salsa bar. After arriving to my destination realizing that I didnt have it I started to think more of the prices on the menu at this location at this restaurant establishment. I expected great service and delicious results from the 4 carne asada tacos and the one Chile relleno burrito but that was not the case. After spending nearly $30 i arrived with some dry ass tacos that had slid around in the styrophone containers ...looking a mess. And my burrito would have tasted alot better had one of them offered salsa for my to-go order. Either the cook or the cashier. They both knew that my order was to go and not one of them made eye contact with me to make sure that my customer service needs were met. So im here to tell you, when people make an effort to stop and eat at your establishment, it should include great customer service. Especially at the prices that your charging. I would not recommend this place. The customer service is terrible the prices are high and there are better tacos in this area and on the same steeet as a matter of fact. I just chose to stop at the wrong place. I rather eat Jack n Box tacos at this point. No stars for Mr. AVACADO on Olive drive. The cashiers and the cooks should get replaced. We were on our way home from vegas and found this gem right off the freeway. My husband was craving tacos so we decided to give it a go and we were not disappointed. They were very kind and got our food done very quickly. My husband ordered the three taco combo. I ordered an Asada torta, my son ordered asada fries(which he still raves about two weeks later, and he's actually hard to please) and my daughter ordered a side of fries. The side of fries was a whole container filled with crispy crinkle cut fries and she was in little kid heaven the rest of the way home. Salsas are also delicious. We have a thing amongst ourselves that if you need salsa to make it taste better your missing something. Stopped by for dinner on my way heading out from Bakersfield, and I'm glad I did! There is plenty of parking out front, the store was super clean, and the staff was very nice and accommodating. For novelty, I tried the Hot Cheetos taco and I was pleasantly surprised! The blend of flavors worked together. The fish taco was delicious and fried to perfection, and the taco al pastor was just OK, a 3/5. I ordered the carne asada burrito and added cheese and sour cream and it was super tasty! I am SO glad I read a couple of reviews while I was there that mentioned the avocado crema salsa.
