At first I was a little skeptical about buying any used appliance, from anywhere. When our washing machine broke we looked all over for new machines and was shocked at the pricing. Because Big Jon's was 1/3 of the price and offered a full one year warranty I figured I'd give it a try. If a machine can run well for a year I have to assume it doesn't have issues... I was still a little nervous of something breaking and how well the warranty would be honored... The machine was 1-2 years old when I purchased it. About 5 months after purchase the drum would bang loudly on the spin cycle. I called Big Jon's and within 2 days they sent over an extremely friendly and knowledgable repair tech. Bought so many appliances over the years for rental properties. Even gave them a boat load of referrals that purchased their appliances. Sadly, in May I bought 3 pieces. 2 of them worked about 3 times. They came ordered parts, and I didn't hear from them again... then I called in October. Finally, they just decided to replace both pieces. Now the replacement doesn't work after 5 weeks. But the 90 day warranty is expired! They gave me a bad back up unit~ So.... sell me a POS machine, replace it with a POS and then tell me tough~ So Not cool~ You would think they would actually care about the people who buy multiple times. Stopped in today to look at some washers and dryers. I saw that they had pretty good reviews and I heard good things about them, so thats why we decided to come in to take a look. When we first walked in we weren't formally greeted. The two behind the counter were having a personal conversation. I don't feel like thats very professional if you have customers coming in to look at your appliances they need questions answered. They had a decent selection to choose from. Some were priced somewhat high in my opinion and some were more reasonable. They did not know the age of them so I'm not sure how they come up with their prices. They advertise a 90 day warranty which I think is more than what other used appliance stores offer, but when we came in there was a sign on the door that said for the next couple of weeks they'd be offering a 1 year warranty which I thought was amazing!!! The only downfall was they do not deliver into basements and their delivery doesn't come with install, so that was one of our hesitations with choosing to buy from here. We decided not to purchase from here due to the delivery but I have heard great things about this company so I would recommend this to others based off other's reviews. I have only used this location once. The Plainfield location I have used Big John's numerous times. I have always received great customer service. A great selection of used stoves, washers, dryers and I believe freezers. Price is always reasonable and have a nice range of prices. I purchased a stove w/self cleaning oven. They couldn't guarantee it worked. Well is does. I have purchased numerous appliances and the delivery drivers are always polite and knowledgeable. You receive a short warranty w/your purchase. I had a dryer stop working 2 days past the warranty. When I called they brought a replacement out even though it was past the date. I bought a fridge around the beginning of June. The staff were friendly and gave me a military discount. It was one of their high end fridges and they said that their technician had done a thorough inspection and it was good to go. I purchased the fridge and had it delivered. I plugged it in and it seemed to work fine. I then went out and spent about $200 in groceries and stocked the fridge up. I work long hours and can't go shopping all the time. Just a few days later the fridge quit cooling. I called and they said they would send out a tech. The closest appointment was two days away. Most of my food went bad especially all my ribeye steaks. The tech came out and said there was nothing they could do. It needed replaced. Said it was common for that model and would cost too much to fix it. Told me to go in and pick out a new one. So I am frustrated but figure this sort of thing happens sometimes. I throw out all the old food and go pick out a new fridge. They deliver it the next day. I wait a couple days to make sure this one works eating most of my meals out. It appears to work fine so I go back and restock it all with food again. Only to my surprise I come home from work today and it stinks inside. The freezer isn't keeping the food cold and my ice cream has melted and my meat stinks. I am very frustrated at this point. I call back and they say they will send another tech out tomorrow afternoon. The rest of my food will be bad by then. Rather than have paid them $500 for a fridge I should have put the $400 in lost food with it and gotten a new one. Unless you just can't afford it I wouldn't take a chance with this place. They are friendly but the appliances aren't reliable. I am updating this review because the store did go above and beyond on correcting the issue. They gave me a new fridge much better than the one I had purchased and it works great. They also offered a full refund if I didn't want to take a chance on another fridge. So we had a mix up we took a washer and dryer to sell to Big Johns in Plainfield IN. The wrong dryer was taken there by mistake. Within a few hours when it was realized that the good working dryer was taken in. I called to let them know of the mistake. They told me that they had already cleaned it and checked it out. So if I wanted it it would cost $255 they only gave us $25 for a working dryer now bcs you cleaned it we would have to pay 255. Just seems a little ridiculous. I know we made a mistake but come on. You have it for a few hours and need to make that much money off it. I have been a customer for several years and recommend family and friends. I will no longer be a customer or recommend anyone. We used Big Jon's last summer when our oven stopped working. My sister and I noticed a gas smell whenever we used it and it eventually stopped heating. It turned out it needed a new igniter, I believe it was. Our technician was awesome! He was fast, but did an A plus job. He showed me everything he was doing and gave me a good tip on cleaning out the oven with a vacuum hose. He didn't even seem to mind the cat "assisting" him while he worked. When he went out to the van to get a part, I caught her being nosy and trying to climb into the oven. I will update this if I can find the piece of paper with his name on it. I think I remember it, but don't want to get it wrong. They have reasonable prices from what I recall. It is nice as well that if they can't fix your appliance, you get a credit towards one from their store. I'd definitely recommend Big Jon's! Nice neighborhood business. And I love the idea of being able to get used refurbished appliances if you're in a pinch. The damn things always break at a bad time and a lot of us can't afford brand-new these days. I purchased a stove, washer and dryer from them. They work with you as far as purchasing but the flaw is that I as a woman had to figure out how to get the washer and dryer to the laundry area at the bottom of the steps. They dropped all appliances in my kitchen door. What if I lived on the basement floor?? I paid for them to deliver it then paid neighbors just to take it down the flight of stairs. Also, they didn't leave the exhaust for dryer which I had to go pick up after deliver and the light went out in the dryer within the first week. I've had them for only 2 weeks now. read more

NEVER AGAIN!!! I bought what appeared to be a decent looking washer, got it home, and had my LICENSED plumber do the hookup. Turns out the threads on the hot water hose in the back of the machine were STRIPPED. As a result, my LICENSED plumber was unable to do the hookup. I was so pissed I decided I didn't even want the machine. The advertisements brag about how each unit is carefully tested before being sold. Clearly, they must have missed the unit I bought. I immediately called Big Jon's and told them to come and get it. I was told there are no returns.... only repairs. I was then informed that it would take TWO DAYS before a repair technician could come to my home. WTF? The phone person also told me that it must have been my LICENSED plumber who stripped the threads. I decided to EAT the loss ($245) and consider it a lesson learned. I then made arrangements to have someone come and take it to the yard or wherever. What am I supposed to do with it? Their repair person is probably the same person who "carefully tested" that piece of junk in the first place. Having owned several businesses in my life (I'm now retired), I ALWAYS prided myself on what I call Golden Rule Service. Meaning, I always treated my customers the way I'd want to be treated. For a business to make a customer wait TWO DAYS to do a repair on a unit that was just bought is straight up BAD BUSINESS. I do see positive reviews for this place. I am a fan of the used appliance I purchased this year. The Machine is old but a great Machine. The customer service staff over the phone are rude. Last week I called and scheduled an appointment. The guy who took the call repeatedly said that he could not find me in the system and didn't understand what I was saying. So I spelled my last name out, and gave him my address. He then said, I could not understand anything I said and blamed it on their new computer system. Wow! Today, I spoke with Debbie about rescheduling my service appointment. Debbie ask me was I rescheduling because I am not available? I kindly said to her I don't understand your question and said to her if I am rescheduling wouldn't mean that I am not available. I've never bought a large appliance before, but I needed one for our kitchen. I found Big Jon's through a Google search and went to the store to pick an oven out. (They call them stoves, but they're really ovens with stovetops) I found a nice, almost new-looking one. We're getting it delivered for a minimal fee and they're carting away the old one. The total cost is less than $100 more than getting our existing (much older) oven repaired. I chose Big Jon's because I needed something used and they were having a sale on the oven I wanted and include a 90-day warranty.
