Still one of my favorite pizza spots in the world. I just got back from living in Portland, which has some of the West's best, and Big J's is better than most here, there, and everywhere. They do my favorite slice in the 831 as well. They do a par baked pie and then add more sauce, cheese, and toppings and then bake it again, custom to order. A lot of labor and work to do this, but it makes a huge difference. Makes it taste ultra fresh and one slice with a few toppings fills me up and I'm a pretty big dude who likes to take down a Big J before hitting Big J's. Big J's is great. We try to visit on our way to Camp Koinonia. The owner is really friendly, and the family run business has really great hospitality. My kids love the pizza, where my son had a eating contest with me, because he enjoyed it so much. Last time we were there he shared some stories about his time in Greece and we chatted a bit. Every time I walk in, I want to order a slice, but every single time, I'm met with the same disappointing line: "Sorry, we're sold out." Wonderful little pizza shop! They said it would take 20 minutes to make, but it only took 15. The pizza is extremely fresh and tastes homemade. Not overwhelmingly seasoned or heavy on oils. I ate the whole thing and will be back. read more

Came here with the family after church and found Pete (he doesn't like being called Sir ) prepping some of his specialty dough and sauce he's been making himself since 1969 he said! What an awesome guy he treated us like family and my children like they were his own grandkids coming outside and joking around with them and letting my youngest (2 year old) know to eat his food or he wouldn't get a popsicle while we waited. FRESH INGREDIENTS 100% made this meal amazing and Pete made us feel like we were home with family. Well the Ravioli was good... Fresh and warm. But the ladies attitude was cold. Customer service is wack. No greeting. She looked at me all mad. And then I told her what I wanted. She said "we don't have bread though." As if that was going to stop me from ordering the pasta. I was like "I still want it" And when she gave it to me she looked all pissed off.
