This is my go-to pizza place. It's always reliable. I've never ever had a bad pizza. It's even good cold. Nice and bready slices piled with cheese and toppings. I've been going here since it opened and while I do occasionally eat other pizza (Don't hate me Hugo) I've never considered making any other place my go-to. I love that they offer slices too so when I need a quick lunch I can pop in and get a slice and be on my way in minutes. They never make me wait long either. Even when they're busy, like on Super Bowl Sunday, the wait isn't usually any longer than 20 minutes which blows my mind. I think only once I had a longer wait but you know what? I didn't care. I'll wait for good food. I realized I went there a lot when the owner saw me in a grocery store and recognized me. He's always very kind and if he's ever busy or not there his staff is always nice. The only thing I could possibly change is that I wish I had the option to tip when I pay with a card. read more

I was charged $6 for extra pepperoni and it barely looks like a regular pepperoni pizza. If you guys order anything extra make sure you check your pizza before leaving the place. $6 dollars is ridiculous alone but not get the extra that was paid for is messed up. read more

Friendly fast service and great food! Unpretentious and comfortable. Everything on the menu sounded delicious. We were visiting from out of town for a soccer game nearby and this was the perfect way to end our visit to Watsonville and refuel after the game. Hugo's Pizzeria has really good pizza for a reasonable price plus they give you a free small when you buy one or two XL pizzas! My only suggestion is order your pizza to go because it is not very clean inside and you could risk having a fly land on your pizza from the flies flying in constantly from the outside. read more

As someone else had stated, this is one of the few places in town that offers calzones. I really do enjoy their calzones, but the inconsistency is slightly annoying. It's made different every time (I've gone) and it seems like the size is getting smaller while the price stays the same. Most of the topping are now just in the middle leaving the bigger pieces of the corner being just bread, and there is hardly any sauce on it which makes it dry. Since it's the only place in town that I know of, I have kept going. However, the inconsistency has made me think that I should look elsewhere or even learn to make it myself lol. read more

Although I have never actually gotten a pizza from here. Me and my buddies when we were finished at the cabrillo college we can come here for lunch at least once or twice a week and get a calzone. Used to come here a lot because the pizzas were cheap and were fluffy and tasty but the last time I went to pick up my pizzas after preordering, I saw several of the employees not wearing gloves and touching registers, opening drawers and all and it really grossed me out. It's like they got the whole family practicing how to make pizzas or something with no proper health and safety training. Also the prices went up and it almost compares to other chain pizzerias prices. When I got home the pizzas were so greasy that one couldn't even hold the slice without having all the oil dripping all over you hand. Not sure if they're using a different type of cheese or what but I didn't let my kids eat that so I ended up throwing it away. I'd rather pay a little more for a pizza where I can see employees are wearing gloves and following health regulations. read more

I thought it was time to give Hugo's another try. Today we ordered a large combination. It comes with a small pepperoni. Unfortunately, the only improvement has been an upgrade to the eating area of restaurant. I believe this has come at the expense of the pizza. The pie is square so you do get more quantity. However, the quality is severely lacking. I call this me too pizza. It's the same as all the others. No real difference in taste, using the same ingredients as the other shops. I believe this has to do with everyone buying from the same food distributor (Sysco) and not making their sauces from scratch. I understand the reasons and economics for this but if you follow this path you fall into the same old, same old pizza. read more

I've been here on several occasions since the new owners took over and I've had it. When ordering individual slices they don't make them fresh anymore, they have them sitting out in the counter and just hand them to you when you arrive. I called and complained and he said "sometimes it happens you know" Instead of trying to work something out he tried to turn it around on me. Like we shouldn't even be having this problem in the first place Another issue I had was ordering a large pizza and wings this past month. The ladies working the kitchen told me 20 min, I arrive in 20 for them to tell me I it would be another 20. After waiting for 30 minuets I decided it was enough and just left. Used to come here AT LEAST once a week during highscool for their quick and convenient $1.50 slices (2 slices, a drink, and some chips from cvs under $6)...The price of slices doubled and slices got smaller, but i'll keep coming back regardless. The one start is for the workers not wearing gloves. I told the owner or guy who is mainly there in the evenings why they weren't wearing gloves and he said, "it's not mandatory for them to wear gloves" As far as I know, you must ALWAYS wear gloves when preparing food covid or no covid. I used to go there almost 2 times each week but not anymore. If they can't simply wear gloves then they lost a regular customer here. I've had pretty fancy good tasting pizza, But honestly this place is my favorite pizzeria. Just a simple pepperoni pizza is the best! They take orders by slice and it's pretty cheap taking in consideration that their slices are huge. Their calzones are pretty pretty bomb as well. I love getting extra sauce in mine.
