This location is about 10,000 ft.² and after walking through it, it reminded me of a hobby lobby and Walmart rolled into one. There's basically every household item under the sun available here along with other things you would not even think of. I was pleased to see that the canned food items were namebrand and not made in China. They sell beds, couches, desks and a variety of other furnishings. They don't have anything to offer in the way of power tools or paint, but Harbor freight tools is just next-door. One thing I noticed that was absent was the fact that they do not sell any greeting cards, so you'll have to go to the Dollar General two doors down. Ever go to a place and never thought of Yelping about it? You're just running errands, minding your own business, then wham! You're impressed with the mundane. Big Lots... who'd Yelp that? THIS GUY. I thought it was worthy of at least 4 Stars. I was given a warm welcome by staff at the front upon entering. I was even offered help to find whatever I was shopping for. The cashier was courteous and friendly. As for their merchandise and cleanliness, everything was neat and orderly. Displays were nicely organized throughout the store. The floor and walls were clean and so was the Men's restroom. You can't complain about their prices because they're mostly discounted compared to other stores. After having great experiences further down this strip center with Dollar Tree and Harbor Freight Tools, Big Lots! turned out to be So Not. I never could figure out the peculiar organization of merchandise in this store. There appeared to be organization on the left and right sides of the store, with merchandise purposefully arranged, but the center of the store was a rather helter-skelter with aisles going in every direction, and merchandise strewn about. I almost laughed aloud when I got to the rear of the store and saw a pathetic little furniture department. I went to the electronics section, and it looked like it needed a caretaker--badly. Everything seemed as expensive or more so than at Target or Wal-Mart. I saw no bargains in this store, and in fact saw a few identical items that I'd passed over at Dollar Tree that turned out to be a relative steal compared to the prices at Big Lots. So I went back and grabbed them. This store seems rather pointless to me for my shopping needs. I guess someone likes it, but if they depended on me for business, they'd have closed as soon as I walked out the door because I won't be back. read more

I am very upset because I had purchased a mattress and the first time it was given to someone else. I decided to call a day prior to pick up and was told it would be there, I even specifically asked if when I went to pick it up it would be there and was told yes. When I went to pick up not even 24 hours later I was told they don't have it. I find it very disrespectful that I waisted my time and now have to go look for another mattress somewhere else. Big Lots is that place that you go when you expect to buy one thing but, walk out spending a bunch of money! I stopped in to buy my niece and nephew Christmas presents and my niece loves crafts so they had a huge selection of those! They also have a huge selection of fancy patterned duct tape and at the holiday season Christmas could throw up at your house if you shop here! I mean really they have everything from dry goods groceries to furniture! Their home section is actually pretty well stocked as well! I also love the bins with discount movies because there is always a great find to be had! I bought some noise canceling head phones for $15.00 and they work great! It sure beats paying $300.00 for Dr. Dre Beatz! There is always plenty of parking and plenty of cashiers so you don't have to wait in line for a long time at the checkout! read more

Location location location. Gotta try. Right next to Dollar Tree, Half Price Books and Tuesday Morning! Harbor Freight Tools also next door for hardware n such at better prices than big box. Variety store, like a big nice Mott's. Housewares, pillows, cotton sheets...Unexpected food, like a good selection of gluten free flour and bake mixes along with junk. Dollar tree has things that'll do in lieu of some things here, but today I found 4 sizes of nice, heavy bamboo cutting boards under $9. Tuesday morning has the same for ~$30. Staff is friendlier than any other Big Lots (Research, I'm lookin at you). Just a nice place to shop and not spend a lot on a stock-up spree. read more

So, keeping in tune with my "I just bought a house and I need to save every penny on household goods" theme, I want to chime in on Big Lots. I have to say, much of my positive review can be attributed to the fact that I went on a particular Sunday when they were giving 20% off everything in the store as "Customer Appreciation Day". Apparently, they do this with regularity throughout the year and I was fortunate enough to do my new home shopping on that particular day. Much like my review of Harbor Freight Tools (which happens to be right next door), the prices of many of their basic household items (linens, closet organizers, kitchen goods) are extremely inexpensive. However, like HFT the quality can range from brand-name equivalent to shoddy. You just have to use a keen eye and try to limit your expectations as to longevity and durability for each item. Their "bed in bag" sets, pillows, mattress covers and other linens are priced well below what you would find in other discount stores and the quality is very good. In many cases the comforter sets are discontinued styles or product lines from other chain discount stores and are a good fit if you are trying to decorate a guest bedroom or two. Like HFT, the sales floor is quite crowded and there isn't much room at the few registers for a long line (of which there were several on that particular Sunday). I have to give considerable praise for the efficency of their customer service desk as I noticed that they had rung up one extra roll of shelf paper than I had actually bought. Once I pointed out the discrepancy on the receipt, the cashier quickly did a refund to my credit card and got me on my way without significantly interrupting the tempo of the line behind me. The one negative I can make mention of is the lack of available shopping carts (this may have been only due to the Sunday discount crowd). I had to go back out to the parking lot and fish through the cart corral to find a Big Lots cart for my purchases. Apart from that, I know I will be back when I need to add or replace some of my basic household goods (especially on Customer Appreciation Day!). read more

I do believe this has to be the biggest Big Lots I've ever been to in my entire life. they have everything spaced out so nice that you can actually fit the carts down the aisle very easily and still have somebody walking down that's a aisle too. Not wanting to sink my car in the gushing waters but needing birthday cards to put in the mail the following day I stopped in here, cards were $4.99 each, ouch, what happened to Dollar Store prices which is where the checker reminded me was the place to buy cards. While there I picked up a Dirt Devil for the office, $15.00, had dropped my expensive blender and the glass replacement piece was going to be $200 but I got a Black and Decker blender for $29.00, 1000 watts but will still make a Rita. Great disposable items for spoiled rotten kids that need lots of noodles for their pools. Comparable to Target, Walmart, remember it's just stuff. Bargain shopping with informed staff, easy parking and it was clean, creepy looking outside but I did not come to live here. read more

Staff is so slow to move the manger lady when we asked a few questions like can you plug in one of the display fireplaces so we can see what it looks like she took a deep breath like we were bothering her and then said "I would have to drag a cord out to do that." "But we don't have any anyway. " then asked her if she had the colored rubber key organizers that she said "I don't know but we should go to dollar tree instead." WOW never have I, while working customer service, would not help, send a customer to another store, or make them feel like there hard earned money is not good enough to be spent in my store. Well I did choose to purchase one item both cashiers couldn't figure out the price because the barcode would not scan. So when he asked the manager who was helping the second cashier with the customer that had just left she said hold on I have to take a call first. so I had to wait till she was done with her phone call helping another customer before helping me who is standing at the register. The call was for an online order to be picked up later? Priorities? Then while the other register young lady just stood there the manager said take a message for that phone call I'll be back to take care of it looks like she's trying to do all the work and not delegating anything to her employees and she's failing miserably! Do not go to this big lots go to any other one I would travel an hour to go to big lots before I ever am forced to go back to this one. her manager needs to sit her down and go over customer service etiquette! read more

The new remodeling look is great! However, my husband and I went in to purchase a living room set from them and it was a disaster. First we waited for a very long time for anyone to help us. We asked for help and the person helping us never came back. When we saw her again, she started helping someone else and left us waiting. Those customers ended up leaving due to the long wait they had as well. Two other employees came and asked if we needed help and that's when we explained to them what we were there for. The guy had another associate go and look to make sure they had the furniture we wanted in stock. Yay, they do! (remember they do have it in stock) We pay for everything and set up delivery which is through another company and cost way more than it should. Paid over the phone for the delivery and went home. Not even an hour later I get a call from Big lots saying that our furniture had been damaged and they do not have any others in stock. Other Big Lot stores didn't have any either and the guy couldn't tell me when they would be getting any in. We decided to have our money refunded because we were not interested in any of the other living room sets. I had to go back to the store to get my money refunded and once I got there (not even 5 min later) the person I talked to was already gone. However, there was another associate that did know what was going on and refunded my money. She explained to me that she was so sorry that they thought they had the furniture I wanted in stock but they searched everywhere (after we had paid and left) and turns out they didn't. Okay so the first person lied to me because he wanted to cover up their mistake they made when they said the set was in stock and it WASN'T so he lied and said everything was damaged instead??? My son was already not acting right, he's in that terrible two stage, my husband was tired and I still had to do homework for class, bathe my son, eat dinner and get ready for the next work day. It was all very frustrating. We were given a $25 dollar gift card for the inconvenience. We spent over 1,000 and got a $25 dollar gift card. Sorry but it was a huge mess to have to deal with and $25 dollars is just silly, a nice thought I suppose... read more

If you love to wait a minimum of 20-23 minutes to pay for a box cereal, printer cable and irregular socks make sure you take the trip to this local Big Lots. Not only do you get to experience the mopac/parmer intersection traffic on any given day but you will be sure to know that you wasted at least 45 minutes of your life at this amazingly awesome store, which could have been shrunken down to 5 min if you just go to the dollar tree next door. read more

He didn't try to upsell me at all, however with the affordable prices I was able to get a bigger set than I thought I would be able to afford. He was super helpful through the whole process, described assembly to me (I was super nervous, but it was easy), then he helped me get the whole thing loaded in my car in a manner that would make it easy for me to unload myself. read more

I missed the big furniture sale last weekend and have been calling several stores in the Austin area trying to find a particular couch. Each Big Lots I called I could not understand what the lady said when she answered the phone. I had to ask "Is this Big Lots?". Finally, the Parmer lane location answered the phone and I could clearly understand that I had reached Big Lots and I told her thank you for speaking so clearly. Jenassa is a great talent when making a customer feel their business is wanted. Mike in furniture has been wonderful in helping us procure that couch I had been searching for. He even arranged for the delivery guy to help us get it home. Thank you Big Lots on Parmer for great customer service. I live an hour and a half away from Austin and logistically it has been difficult helping my daughter get settled in to her new home. Big Lots has been a big help. read more

My fiancé and I brought furniture from big lots and had a horrible experience. We came back to pick up our furniture that was already purchased and they couldn't find our TV stand. Not to mention I had to rent a truck to pick it up. Once I spoke with the manager she showed no concern of why it wasn't at there store then told me well all we can do is have you pick it up at another location or we can deliver it but it will take a week. I had to go across town just to pick my furniture up. Today I decided to put the furniture together as I opened the TV stand box a piece was broken and I had to bolt it together. I just opened the box to the bed and my foot board is broken and I will have to do the same. Also The bed rails are missing from the bed. I don't recommend Big lots to anyone. Stay away!!!!! The Managers are horrible. Don't buy any furniture at all. The one star is because I have to put it it's that bad. read more
