After combing threw a few stores for Black Friday sales, I came up empty handed until I reached J Crew. Much of the store was sales rich, i.e. 50-60% off. I was giddy at seeing all the sales signs. They were stocked with many variety of sweaters - plain and Christmas in a variety of textures and materials. They also had a plethora of new items since my last visit. In the last few weeks, I have been on the hunt for dark chocolate (fall trending color) suede shoes and a handbag. Today was my lucky day for dark chocolate suede shoes. Yes, I purchased them at 60% off the ticketed price...that's the good news. The bad news is that they have to be ordered online via the store. I received expedited shipping and therefore can receive my shoes as early as tomorrow but no later than Monday. Yay!!! While this was not best Black Friday sales run, even one item at a good price brings me great joy!

Upon entering the store, there was always an employee near the door to greet you which I really enjoy. I love not having to scan the store to figure out who I should thank for pleasantries lol. This location has a wide variety of women's clothes and men's clothes. They also have accessories: jewelry, purses, hats, false nails. They have lip, glosses, perfumes, a few other Makeup products. I was surprised to see the assortment of disposable cameras. Really cool that those are making a comeback, but not enjoying the price point lol. I love all of the eclectic trinkets they have! Just a few that stuck out: mini pool ashtray, a duck, jewelry tray, denim jeans planter, flamingo mug. Very fun and different! They had a wonderful selection of Baggu! They were also appropriately priced and not hiked up! They have a few books, and some records. I do feel some other locations might have a bit more, but they had a decent amount. Their points program is really awesome and sign up is free so I definitely recommend that! All of the employees were very kind and helpful which was refreshing! The only thing I don't favor about this location is the parking. It's really hard to find parking nearby because the domain is always busy, but that's not their fault.

The event brought such a positive and energetic vibe, especially being surrounded by so many runners and bracelet lovers. The store is so vibrant and colorful with all the premade bracelets with inspirational words. They were handing out $5 off discount coupons at the event, but their jewelry is priced fair. There was a DJ playing music on site. They also had beverages and small bites. One of the highlights was being one of the first 20 to arrive, we received a special coin that could be used at the bead bar to create a custom bracelet, which made the experience feel really interactive and personal. The bead bar was at the back of the store and they provided all the supplies to make our own customized and personal bracelets. It did make me feel old because it was hard to see the holes in the small beads to string them and a needle would have been helpful. They also gave away premade bracelets featuring inspirational running phrases, which was such a thoughtful touch and perfectly matched the spirit of the event. The staff was friendly and helpful while putting bracelets together, and the whole setup felt welcoming and creative. If you are into friendship bracelets, Little Words Project hosted such a memorable experience. Definitely recommend stopping by for one of their events or visiting the bead bar to make something customized for yourself or a friend.

Works great because we came from Houston & we couldn't decide on what we wanted to add!

Sneakers often referred as kicks is the origination of the store's name. The layout of the store is spacious with sneakers positioned in such a way that you clearly see all the shoes. Also, the styles and colors are plentiful. Today the store sales associates highlighted that they were having a special Valentine's event later in the evening. They have specials events from time to time in store. Service is the secret sauce in Kicking It! From the time you swing open the door you are greeted in a very pleasant way. The sales associate ask if you are looking for anything special. They are poised to direct you to the section of the store of the requested shoe. The sales folks feel like family, so there is no high pressure sales tactics. You could peruse the sneakers at your leisure. Sneakers are not cheap. My nephews and nieces have quite a selection of sneakers, so I was prepared to hear the prices. In life, sometimes you get what you pay for. They had a lot of items in clothing, furniture and kitchen goods. Not as much in toys. I found quite a few items. They don't seem to do standard pricing like your large chain thrift stores. For more than half of my time in the store I continuously had multiple workers staring me down, and then two just following me around multiple times which gives me the feeling that I'm being looked at like I'm going to steal. This normally wouldn't bother me because I'm not a thief but it bothers me because I've given zero reason for anyone to be looking at me or following me like this. It creates a nasty narrative, and a hostile environment. Until you've been given a reason to need to follow someone, don't... I'm an indecisive person, but I'm also a gay male in a thrift store playing gospel music, so it's bad enough I already feel like I'm not wanted here but to follow me around and look at me while talking to co workers multiple times doesn't put a good feeling on a customer. And there's a chance that maybe this wasn't the case but I'd be an easy target. There's not a huge selection of men's clothes or shoes and if there is it's mixed up with the women's so I look in ever aisle and I feel like I got stares because I was in the women's aisles but there was a plethora of women's things in the men's aisle so maybe they just need to reorganize? The prices on some things seems incredibly capitalist, I see a whole couch for $19.99 which is a great price, but then I'm looking at a pair of shoes for $24.... Where's the relief in that LOL I have to admit they have some pretty good items, but the prices seem greedy. I don't know how much of the proceeds go to disaster relief but if it's not 100% then it seems pretty disturbing, prices are getting to be like Goodwills and there's no good will in that ‍ All in all, this truly is a great store but this was not a good experience for me so I may seek another store.
