This got to be a drag--especially at Miller Time when the traffic is a killer. A coupla years ago, this little gem of a convenience store started carrying a few solid bottles of red and moved on to what is a now an excellent, relatively large selection. They're particularly strong on Spanish reds with some excellent California selections. Cheap and delicious Cristalino is always chilled for those brutal Austin summer days. On average $2-4 cheaper per bottle than Whole Foods and they give case discounts. Talk to the manager if you're looking for something you don't see and he'll order it.

I've never caught the name of the attendant at the front, but he is always very friendly and knowledgeable. Yes, prices are a tad elevated, but (1) where are they not, and (2) you pay for the convenience of Sky Market. Overall, convenient local spot, and I will be back many, many times, I'm sure!

It is surrounded on all corners by hundreds of apartments that have been recently erected in the last year or so. This convenience store opened in March 2023. It is definitely much smaller than your average convenient store, but it does have a better wine and craft beer selection than most convenience stores. It does have a coffee bar, however, most convenient stores have a better one. It basically serves the hundreds of apartment dwellers within the immediate area more so than the general public. You will pay a premium price here, but then it's better than hopping in your car and driving to the grocery store.

I think you are supposed to stick the lollipop in the toilet bowl to get the sugar then suck on it. I don't know why a kid would want that, but sitting next to the incense, knock-off cologne, and ornate Zippo's, it is just the sort of peculiar merchandising strategy that intrigues me. They recently installed pay-at-the-pumps which means I probably won't be going inside as often. Which is a shame because the owners/clerks are very nice and friendly. They are also very cooperative with our neighborhood association in dealing with the aggressive vagrants in the area. Unlike the neighboring Shell station, the Texan doesn't provide the vagrants a safe harbor from the police, won't sell alcohol to intoxicated persons, and if they notice one of the panhandlers harassing people, they will intervene or call the police. They also try hard to keep their lot clean and free of trash. So in short, when I need to make a quick stop, I choose the Texan. Clean, friendly, safe, and cheap!

I used to love supporting this local, independent, small convenience store which had a good, robust…read moreselection of items. I loved being able to pop in for a sweet (cool) treat on a hot day (with the addition of a possible $1B lottery ticket) or a late night "guilty pleasure" munchie/drink . However, for the last couple of years or so, at Clarksville Corner Market I've notice that while they've gotten much better at actually marking the prices of items on the shelves under the items (which they didn't do for the first few years with the new owners), at checkout I generally get charge $1- $2 more than the listed price. When I've pointed this out, the clerk -- the same guy that's been working the front regularly for the past several years -- he just shrugs his shoulders saying there's nothing he can do. Shame on me for putting up with it for so long due to misplaced "loyalty". I can't tell if this is just laziness in pricing the inventory or intentional misleading pricing by the store and/or the clerk to "milk" the customer. But I'm done. As much as I hate to say it, as a 30+-year member of the neighborhood, I'm no long going to support the Clarksville Market, and for all I care it can just go the way of Nau's Drugs, Anthony's Cleaners, El Interior, and West Lynn Cafe -- iconic, historical neighborhood business that have gone out of business over the years. I'd highly recommend skipping this convenience store and going a couple of blocks up West Lynn to Fresh Plus, an excellently-run, well and creatively stocked independent grocery store (with high end items you can't find at your standard HEB) which has been serving the neighborhood since 1927!
