This isn't the biggest home goods in the 805 but it'll do. I wish the isles were a little bigger as it can sometimes be hard to navigate this store during high traffic hours BUT I'd rather have more merchandise than larger walking spaces so I make it work. Little random things that do matter are that their bathrooms are clean and they have a large shared parking lot. Self-checkout was easy. Overall the store was clean and well-stocked, though a little messy/disorganized. Some stuff, especially in the candy "bins" was not in the right bins, which makes the prices confusing. One of the candies I bought, I thought it was going to be $4 but it was $2.50. And a toy I bought, I had no indication of price at all, and it turned out to be $4. Their stock changes regularly so it's fun to just check in every so often to see what they have. And if you see something you're interested in, it's a good idea to buy, as it may not be there the next time you visit. Staff I talked to were polite and professional. When I went to pay the watermelon rang up as $0.99/pound. I explained to the cashier, Carol, that the sign stated they were $0.99/each. Carol said she didn't know what to do and called the manager. I believe her name either Victoria or Veronica. When she came up I asked her name. She stated "I'm the store owner," and pointed to the sign hanging from the ceiling with her picture on it. I explained the situation and she said she would not honor the price advertised. I explained that it was false advertising and she laughed and began to walk away while laughing. I told her I was going to report to the BBB. I went back to the register and Carol began to be rude and making little side comments. While I was talking she yelled and told me to "BE QUIET, STOP TALKING." I went to find the owner and she came to the register. She asked Carol to take a break and she was still yelling at me. She rang me up and honored the advertised price for one watermelon Today, I went in to get a few things. The Poppi sodas were out front. The advertisement on the pallet stated $1.99 for a 4 pack. I did not see that it said "for a 4 pack." However, all the cases of Poppi were in packs of 8. There were absolutely zero 4 packs, all the boxes were boxes of 8. I guess they want you to open the boxes up and take out 4? This is false advertising and completely misleading. Additionally, there was a box of soup with about 12 bowls in them. They were labled as $0.99 each. This is also misleading as we thought the box was $099. Again, the boxes that were with the advertisement were all packaged in boxes of 12. There were no individual soups out. When I tried to explain to the cashier she stated "well don't get mad at the cashier." I replied and told her I wasn't mad, I was just trying to explain. She laughed in my face multiple times, then another man at the register chimed in. He stated I was mad being mean to the cashier. He said I was raising my voice and continued to threaten to kick me out. He stated I was making a scene. The conversation went on as he said multiple other things. I asked for his name and he said "I'm the manager, I'm Albert." Okay- I didn't ask his role there, just his name, but he thought it important to flex his managerial position. At one point a customer chimed in and began making comments. This man stated "well if it's too good to be true, it probably is. Mind you, this man had two boxes of the same soups that we were getting but decided to put them back when he heard the price! lol! The manger Albert kept talking and telling me to leave and that I could go to another store. All I was doing was explaining that the advertising was misleading. Before I left I asked for the female cashiers name. She kept laughing then said her name was "Ms. Janice." After, she asked me for my name. I stated that I was just a customer and did not need to provide her with my name. This is so misleading! How are they going to Price things individually but have them put in a whole package...? Lastly, I don't believe that either of them were very professional. Albert, as a manager, should've stepped in when the customer began making comments, instead of letting him chime in and potentially escalate the situation. As a manager, he should've been able to talk to everyone calmly, apologize for the misleading information and fix the signage. Instead he proceeded to be rude, unprofessional and demeaning. This man is never happy or smiling when I go into the store- I don't think he likes his job very much. He is never warm or inviting to the customers. Mi would stay away from here if you like honesty, because they definitely are not that.

Well, on my first visit to the Grocery Outlet earlier this year, I acted on it. Upon walking in, it initially looks like any other grocery store chain that you've been to. Clean floors, bright lighting, & well stocked aisles... But as you actually make your way down those aisles and you start looking at the prices, you will definitely understand why they say this is a "bargain market" (in a good way). Yeah, at the Grocery Outlet, each item on their shelves has a yellow price tag with the Grocery Outlets price and then a price under that saying Elsewhere's price (which is always more of course). Hey, call it good marketing (pun intended) or just call it plain 'ol discounting psychology 101, in which our brains perceive the value of something and the need/want for that said item, especially when it's a clear was vs now pricing scenario. As consumers, especially in a Capitalist world, we can always justify the saving of money especially when it's around purchasing essential things that we need versus non-essential things that we just want. And groceries are definitely more of a need, but can easily turn into a want especially if you go on an empty stomach. Pro Tip: Never, Ever go the grocery store hungry! But not only do they have really great prices here, but I saw items that I've literally never seen at any other grocers and I've been to them all. This location, located in the heart of Thousand Oaks offers some great values that would definitely make it worth your while to come check them out for yourself. I did google if Grocery Outlet accepts manufacturers coupons, in which it said they did not, but they do occasionally offer their own store-specific coupons as well as digital deals on the Grocery Outlet app so definitely download that.
