    Great Decor

In Thousand Oaks (TO), tuck away from hustle and bustle, busy Moore Park blvd was this unique store called Grocery Outlet (GO). We missed it many times after it opened a few years ago. So, this was our first visit there. I'd like to shout out to Mike, the night manager, who was very friendly and helpful. He shared a bit of interesting history of this GO at this TO location. And don't forget to bring a pen. Mike mentioned to write your phone # on your receipt and deposit it in the marked box on your way out. You may be the raffle winner when the store pick your receipt. This store was stocked with more chicharrones than I found in many retail grocers - bbq flavor, regular flavor, hot & spicy flavor, and many different brands! It also stocked with such Asian condiments as wasabi, oyster flavor sauce, fish sauce, all kind of hot sauces, etc. Each store was own by individual franchisee so that you are not allowed to return merchandises bought from Grocery Outlet store from other locations. Legend has it that merchandise's available on each day may be different from day-to-day because GO received from many different vendors weekly. Where else could you buy a Kit Kat cereal (see the pic) for $0.99 but here! There were many items that were on sale for below the market price. We just had to do a little leg work & scavenge around the store to find the best deal! Oh by the way, I forgot to mention the many wine & liquor varieties readily available in the back room of the store! Parking spaces are limited to share among 3 to 5 stores. Overflow parking may be to use the Best Buy parking lot next door. There is no ev chargers in the vicinity. Have fun shopping...

Some of the vegan meats in the frozen section!

I came today for the first time! They have a great variety of organic items and natural foods for a nice price. Great selection of vegan meats etc... especially in the freezer section. I started off having a great time, but I noticed you really need to CHECK DATES on their products! I wanted veggie broth and it expired in 8 weeks. That's not cutting it for me, as I like to keep it in my pantry longer than that. Also, as I was checking out I noticed the prices of a few of my items were coming up more expensive!!! So I said something and they corrected it. The small Spectrum brand organic coconut oil said it was $2.99, but that rang up as $5. They said that was the price for it even though I ran back and showed them the tag for it. I didn't appreciate that. The giant one was $5.99 so I just got that one. When I got home I realized it expires in 3 months! I definitely can't use that much coconut oil that fast, so that's going back. I like the store, there are some great bargains. I just didn't have the greatest experience today. I'll go back and try again... when I return my almost expired coconut oil.

Stems and ugly fruit from CHINA!

Be VERY selective. Don't get frozen fruit! I got 2 small bags. I wish I saw it's a product of CHINA!!! Fruit from China! Whaa?? The strawberries are white, the blueberries are red and there are stems and other junk in there. I wish I saw the berries before I threw them in my smoothie. I should have dug them out. TERRIBLE. Be aware of shelf markings, too. They're often placed under items not included. The owner is really nice and helpful, but some of the staff are nasty. Keep your receipts!

Incorrect pricing , cashier wouldn't honor or change the price . states 24ct and the boxes are 8/12 ct

Always check your receipts. The prices are incorrect and the cashiers wouldn't honor the pricing the list

Ten dollars is the price for Fridays, $8 on Saturdays, $5 on Sundays, $4 on Mondays and so on until you get to products that are worth $1 on Thursdays. New items are brought in on Fridays, a variety of items from games to photo frames to vitamins and supplements, steamers, calendars, knick knacks, and more. I've encountered items that I had no idea what it was and also found myself holding an x-rated item after I read the description to figure out what it was. . So yeah, they have loads of items and half the fun is just figuring out what you're looking at. Items behind the display case behind the cashier are more expensive as are the pictures on the wall. No "bin" really has any particular order to it. You'll have to dig through stuff here. You might want to bring gloves, but it's not really dirty so much as finding your way through a treasure trove of items. Some products I found online and compared to the price online doesn't seem like a great deal, but I have found and bought some random objects that were very useful on a day when the price is low. If you're curious, like a good deal, and don't mind burrowing into who knows what in items, then you should check this place out!

And, once again, you know because these are Pottery Barn, they are very high quality so you are going to get a great lifespan out of what you are purchasing. The cashier, Fareba N., asked whether I had a TJ Maxx credit card. I politely responded that I did not and was not interested in applying. I fully understand that employees are required to present these offers, and I acknowledged her effort with a smile and a clear, respectful "no, thank you." However, despite my clear response, she proceeded to repeat the entire credit card pitch again while continuing to scan my items. At the end, she emphasized the potential $8 savings if I applied. While this was already excessive, I remained polite and again declined, reiterating that I preferred to proceed with checkout using my own credit card. At that point, the interaction became highly uncomfortable. She insisted again, this time in a manner that felt unusually aggressive and condescending, repeatedly asking, "You don't want to save $8 today?" The tone and persistence felt less like customer service and more like being pressured by a scripted system, completely disregarding my clearly stated decision. As a frequent shopper at TJ Maxx, I find this particularly disappointing. Not having a store credit card does not diminish customer loyalty or value. I consistently support the store through regular purchases, and respectful treatment should not be conditional on opening a credit account. I want to emphasize that this is not about a single offer. It is about the inability to respect a customer's clear and polite refusal. In past visits, staff have always stopped after one or two attempts and proceeded professionally. This experience went far beyond that norm. This kind of excessive and persistent sales pressure reflects poorly on the store's customer service standards. If this behavior is encouraged or left unaddressed, it risks creating a negative ripple effect on the overall customer experience and brand perception. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and reinforces a more respectful, customer-first approach at checkout.
