GETTING HERE: Located in DTSP on Main Street. Look for Hair Haven and Santa Paula Trading and you'll find it. REVIEW: Much needed update! The inside of the store has been remodeled and while it opens up the inside space for the products, it makes it feel very cramped inside. I don't know if this is a Goodwill thing or not, but IMO more product on the floor isn't necessarily better. I visited recently on a very busy weekend and while I didn't see any employees, the store was filled with customers. I searched for the book/CD section, and while it's still located in the very back, the product was even less than previous times. Color me sad. My friend just recently found a (hopefully) Tiffany (or least inspo) lamp in great condition for $12. If you spend some time, you can find some good deals. I would recommend stopping by this Goodwill if you're in the area, maybe eat at Rabalais and then stop in here. Good luck! read more

I had a little time to kill on a Friday weekday so I popped in to see what they had. This store was very clean and organized. They had a lot of clothing and kitchen wares. It's a smaller store compared to other Goodwill stores I have been in but still enough to want to take a look inside to see what is available. Prices seemed a bit high. Little cheap metal decorative canisters were $3 which seemed a bit much for Dollar store looking containers. read more

As a professional thrifter whose closet is 90% thrift items, let me just tell you that this is one of my favorite Goodwills (besides the ones in the Bay Area). I just happened upon this one a couple of weeks ago and I was really surprised at their great selection. In addition, the employees are really nice and everything is well organized. No dressing room but they allow exchanges within 7 days. If you donate, don't forget your receipt as you get a 25% off coupon for your next visit. The amount of original tag items is pretty high and I've seen some really great brands! I scored a brand new Banana Republic mini skirt for $4 and a Free People jean jacket with matching shorts for $15! Just as important as the things I actually buy are the items that are kooky... and there's some great jaw droppers here to keep me entertained! The bonus is the location. SP's Main Street that this Goodwill is on is really a gem! Lots of unique stores and restaurants surrounding, old theaters, etc. I work in SP 2 days a week and this is where I spent my lunch break. I am amazed at my great finds in this store every time I stop in. This time I found the world's best party dress for $8. My husband found some like-new Hawaiian shirts. It is also a good source for Halloween costumes. You can return within 7 days since they do not have dressing rooms, but the dress I found fit perfectly. Checkout usually doesn't have a line, and they have extended their opening time. You can usually find street parking in front of the store. They also stock kids' clothes as well as purses, shoes, artwork, and kitchenware. Dropping off is easy too, as long as you remember which stairs and doorway in the back alley belongs to Goodwill. read more

I visited the Goodwill store in Santa Paula recently, and an employee told me that customers are not allowed to have drinks inside the store. However, after looking at Goodwill Southern California's public policies and the Ventura/Santa Barbara Goodwill materials, I could find no official rule that prohibits customers from bringing a drink inside while shopping. I feel that the employee's statement was misleading, and it caused unnecessary inconvenience. If there is a local in-store rule, l believe it should be clearly posted so customers know ahead of time. I hope the store management looks into this, clarifies their policy, and ensures that staff accurately informs patrons. It was a man about 30 years old. He should likely be retrained. read more

They accept credit cards! Just in case you were wondering. I am ever grateful to be able to support places like this as opposed to chain stores with poor quality, over priced items. Today? I ended up spending as much money on books as I did on pants for my new job. Pros: the store was clean. Staff was observant and kept racks well organized. Wide variety of all sorts of clothes for women and men. Tag sales seem to go by color but may also be per day also, so ask when you enter or look around for whatever the signage suggests. Cons: you better be set on the clothing you buy because there are returns within 7 days for exchange but absolutely no chance of getting your money back. No dressing rooms!? I get it though. Not everyone is honest, or clean, so I truly respect the no fitting rooms, but it is a terrible combo when put together with no money back. Bonus: browse the books! Always...browse...the...books! Today I found 3 incredible reads and a bonus journal that I didn't even find until the very end of my browsing. read more

I've stopped in here a couple times, most recently on a Sunday. I really like that Goodwill is open on Sunday - not all thrift stores are (in fact the majority aren't). I had some time to kill on a Sunday morning and stopped in. I didn't have anything in mind that I needed, but walked out with a super fluffy comfy bathrobe and a back massager thing. Both were cheap and in good shape. They have a good section of furniture and large stuff (it's a pretty big store) as well as a lot of women's clothes and some men's and kid's stuff too. The staff are polite and professional and check-out was easy as the store was not crowded. read more
