Tried the 10-piece family basket at Big Mama's Chicken and Waffles and it did not disappoint. The chicken was crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor in every bite. The waffles were fresh, soft, and paired perfectly with the seasoning on the chicken. You can tell the food was made with care and served hot and fresh. The portions were generous, making it a great family meal, and everything tasted well-seasoned without being overpowering. The customer service was also welcoming and professional, which made the experience even better. Definitely a spot worth coming back to if you want flavorful comfort food done right. read more

The food is fried fresh to order. The individual's who takes your food order, are owe so customer service friendly. During the the time, I did go the drive thru window was busy, but as long as I was getting grade A, fresh quality cooked food, the wait wasn't a big factor. Although their, was plenty of cars, there in line, wasn't no loud music playing, just a very nice ran establishment. read more

The wait in the line is ridiculous and the chicken isn't even hot & fresh. Once you're two cars into the line it's impossible to leave because the way the drive thru and parking is designed. The taste of the chicken is fine -- mid at best. read more

So big mama's chicken and waffles I had it on yesterday around 5 o'clock. The service was great. The people are really kind they make you feel like you're at big mama's house very welcoming people great staff OK so let's talk about the food now I had two à la carte pork chops and a Belgian waffle let's start off on a great note the Belgian waffle amazing now now the pork chop oh my gosh, they were not good at all. You know how when you fry a pork chop the batter sticks to it not what I had. The batter actually just came out like a whole shell or something. I don't know but they were horrible. This is the truth. I only speak truth when I deal with food, especially life matters as well truthful, I'm truthful, but other than that, I will write them on the food too, but on service, they get a five. read more

The workers were not only amazing they were super funny and nice. I ordered a half chicken, filet nuggets, and 3 shrimp. I don't know what their seasonings are but they had me HOOKED from the first bite. The tartar sauce and pickles they give you pairs with the food perfectly. It feels like a family owned restaurant who puts a lot of hard work and time into their work and it shows! read more

This was my first time coming to this establishment, customer service was cool. The seasoning on the food was amazing. However the food was very soggy which kind of ruined the experience. It may have been a bad day so I might give them another try one day read more

Since moving into area I've been wanting to check this place out & I finally did with my boyfriend. I was sadly disappointed with the food. Yes, it's well seasoned, but does it taste good? No. I am glad it didn't taste like grease. There's not much of ambiance since it's a drive thru. While waiting I did see a trash panda AKA raccoon rummaging through the trash bin. Service was decent. Unfortunately, I won't be coming back. read more

I feel really bad, but I have to be honest. I ordered the 10 piece chicken dark family meal with banana pudding and koolaid. First off, the customer service was really good. They greeted me and were very friendly. Now let's get to the food. The chicken was VERY BLAND. Tasted like it was sitting in water prior to cooking. The fries were cold and were also very bland and old because there was a slight grittiness. The banana pudding was very good because I don't like bananas in mine and that's how they serve theirs. The koolaid was also on point. I really recommend brining your chicken in a seasoned liquid and season the batter because it was almost inedible. I will come back if you take constructive criticism from these reviews seriously. read more

My wife told me about this place. Said the customers in her shop said it was really good so I had time today to venture out and try it. I was really excited anticipating some really amazing fried chicken. As you can see from my receipt I ordered a 4-piece regular and Corn Fritters. Having lived in far East Texas and only 15 minutes from Louisiana, I am familiar with amazing soul food, especially fried chicken and corn fritters that will send your mouth into ecstasy. Well, this isn't it! I got home with my prize to discover I had been given a 3-piece instead of the 4-piece regular I ordered. The chicken was without a doubt tender and juicy but almost no flavor. I was also disappointed to find I was given 6 corn fritters slightly larger than the diameter of a quarter. The French fries were undeniably restaurant packaged frozen and of mediocre quality and what I was served was very soggy and completely bland. As for the slice of white bread, it was generic, plain, thin sliced bread. I am not a bread fan and honestly couldn't tell you anything more. As far as the service, I honestly could not complain about the speed or the person that took my order. It did take a couple of extra minutes because they had to fry the fritters. Which was totally acceptable. However, since I didn't actually get what I ordered I'll let you draw your own conclusions. The reviews I've read appear to be either people love it or they don't. There's little in between. And I can see why. read more

The wait at this place is INSANE. Then the waffles where not cooked through and the chicken was very MID and you only get 2 thin tenders for a big waffle. I was always curious about this place since I always drive by the area but unfortunately I will not be coming back. read more

Best Fried Chicken in Dallas! Drive through or window pickup only. Ask for extra seasoning, it's the best ever!

Worst type of service! Wait time was horrible, it gets worse guy made statement customers need take they ass home it's cold outside. He was complaining because they were busy?? Keep that attitude up don't have to worry about being busy doors will close fast. Then top it off you get my order wrong!! This will be my last visit bad enough the wait time has definitely gotten worse but now service is just horrible read more

Went there to order a plate and sat in line after I ordered for about 25 mins. After the guy took my order. He Opened the window and said to go to the other side. There was a car there already. And saw where this was going already. Got behind him and had to wait there. Guy came back out and said making fresh fries. I was like ok.... Waiting again and when I got my food open the bag up and yep not hot at all. Why complain and go back so you can get told something you dont want to hear. This will not be a place I will visit again ever. But now I know why they covered the glass so you cant see them on the phone and chatting it up after they get their $$. This place does not seem to be very clean either but what do you expect from a place like this. Strongly suggest DONT GO THERE UNLESS YOU WANT SHITTY SERVICE AND COLD ASS FOOD. read more

Hadn't been there in years. Chicken is better than ever, Crispy, big pieces, great fried okra. Staff are welcoming & helpful. I'll be back!

Really wanted to like it. Came on a Sunday around 1 and it took about 15 mins to get to the window with one car ahead of us. We ordered the 10 pc dark meat. They were the smallest pieces of chicken we've ever gotten and were dry. There's a sign on the window that tells you that you can substitute your fries but then they tell us we can't do that. All of our food was lukewarm and soggy. Cash only. read more

I drive by this place every day and one day I want to try it out. Swung in to order some waffles and chicken livers. Oh, we are out of waffles, the cashier said. In that case, just give me chicken livers and fries. It comes with fries. Fantastic, I said. That will be $5.13, and she took my money. After a few minutes, she gave me back the money and said she's out of livers as well. Hmmm, something is not right about this place. read more

Great food and customer service. They guy at the window Bruce was very cool and informative about the menu. The Waffle was freshly prepared and fluffy. The chicken wings were ok but the fries were seasoned to the gods! Next trip (coming from Shreveport) I'm bringing my wife so we can try other things on the menu. I will remember to ask for extra syrup for my waffle next time. Overall I give it a 9.5 out of 10. The other .5% was because the speaker wasn't working but other than that I recommend it! read more

Big Mama's Chicken & Waffles - Fluffy waffle, chicken wings, well seasoned fries, pickles, jalapeño pepper and steamed carrots - Soul Food Near Me - Dallas, Texas

Take-out Chicken & Waffles with potential. I love C&W, so we finally gave this place a try - but were a little disappointed. No dine-in, so customers walk up or drive-through. No speakers in drive-thru; just order at the window - it takes a while. No potato salad today, even though it is a featured side dish. No gravy, but some C&W places skip gravy with bone-in chicken. No chicken & waffle baskets or meals; forget the business name and order all items separately. They do not accept credit cards, so take cash. Take extra cash, because they don't offer any change - and when I asked for my change, they shorted me by about $1.20! I had waited so long by that time, I was ready to go w/out my change. Pros: the whimsical name, the C&W concept, fried okra, good puckles, and the savory seasoning on the fried chicken! Cons: soggy fries, soggy bread, no potato salad, grumpy staff, no gravy, cash only, no dine-in. Three stars is generous, in hopes this was an off day. read more

I seen that this was popular in Dallas and gave it a try. Thankfully on Saturday around 11am there was virtually no wait. Its in the cut for sure. The person that took the food was pretty nice. Now, onto my issue. I ordered the 3 piece wing basket. My order came as expected, no discrepancies but that chicken was extremely tasteless. Very dry and overall nasty af. Im not sure if they don't season the chicken or what but that was nasty. The fries were okay. The extra seasoning only made the chicken worse. read more

The seasoning is worth 5 stars, food was ready in about 6 minutes. Only giving it 4 because my chicken was a little dry. Had a 3 piece basket, 2 legs and a breast. I would still go back again though because the fries were great! read more

Horrible customer service! Wait time is ridiculous! This is a chicken place how does it take so damn long to move chicken into a container and hand out of the window so you can get to the next customer? Then the prices have gone up, WAY UP! For chicken that is subpar and not worth the price. I've passed by Big Mama's way too many times. The only reason I never ate there is because I wanted someone to be with me for the experience (good or bad). Lucky for me, a friend is in town and he says, "I want to eat chicken and waffles, whats a good place?" A light turned on in my head and my eyes twinkled as I remembered Big Mama's. We ventured out on this mild weathered day (gotta love TX!) with food dancing in our head. When we arrived, there are two drive thru lanes and a walk up window. We stare at the menu trying to figure it all out. Since you order at the window, we told the young lady we were confused. She ask what we wanted and we said, "chicken and waffles, of course!" She then ask what kind of chicken since there was so many variations. She was VERY nice and friendly! She even called us "baby." lol We got the 3 piece (leg, thigh, breast) with a waffle. It comes with everything you need. Plenty of syrup and butter AND you can even get KOOL-AID to drink!!!!!!!! I don't know what it was about the chicken. It had pizazz!. It tasted so GD good! Pair that with the waffle, and I should have gotten arrested for indecent exposure. The meal was fairly inexpensive, really good tasting and service was awesome, There are a couple tables out if you want to eat there. All in all this is a must eat place if you are in Dallas. read more

If Im craving some good seasoned fried chicken I go to Big Mama's! I was feeling hungry and ordered a six piece wing basket with a waffle and extra seasoning on the side. Building: Its strictly drive through, so if you want a sit down eatery type of place, this isn't for you because the only thing inside is the kitchen. Menu: The menu is full of comfort food favorites, so if you want a good comfort food cheat day meal, you have plenty to choose from My food: So I ordered like the name says and got chicken wings with a waffles. Not going to lie, the waffle was just plain and basic, nothing special about it. But where big mama's excels is on the chicken. The chicken is crispy, seasoned and perfect. I probably won't ever get the waffle again but I could eats buckets of the chicken. Oh and I ordered extra seasoning to add and I highly recommend doing it! read more

I just finished eating from this restaurant, and all I can say is man was a good. If you leave, they're hungry then it's your fault.

The food isn't really that good and the service won't win any awards, but it's still a cultural experience. It feels vaguely unsafe to be here even in the day time--do go in the day time. They come out at night. Mostly. The waffles are fine. The chicken is... well probably not as good as Popeyes. I liked the pork chops when I tried them here. They serve actual Kool-Aid here with more sugar than the directions call for. They charge for condiments. It's overpriced. It's cash only. I dunno what to tell you except that you were warned. But still... it's nice to have some local personality I guess. It's comforting that not everything is owned by big corporations yet. If you didn't gather, this is a drive up only place with barely a couple places to park. No inside. And you probably don't want to get out of your car unless you're hoping to score something other than food. read more

The service was good. I was able to get 2 orders of a 3 piece in about 7 mins. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the chicken was a bit salty. But the fries were great. They also have the bread at the bottom ans pickles/jalapeño combo as well. read more

I can't believe that I've driven past this chicken shack for all these years. I'm truly mad at myself. Lesson learned: Never judge food by the facility it's made in. First thing I noticed was that they had two drive thru lanes and two menu boards. On the first menu board the prices were cut out of the plastic. Cute. Backed out of that lane and went to the other lane on the other side of the building. All the prices were written in pencil on this menu board. Cuter. So I decided on the 'regular', which is 3 pieces of chicken. Leg, thigh, and a wing($4). Had potato salad($1.50/pint) and a waffle($1.50) added to the order. The chicken came lightly breaded but crunchy batter. The batter was seasoned with a blend of spices that was sprinkled on everything, including my potato salad, two slices of white bread, pickles and jalapeño pepper. The chicken itself was absolutely wonderful. Not too heavily seasoned, not under seasoned. The heat from the chicken sitting on the bread lightly toasted it, instead of making it soggy. This let's me know the chicken wasn't too greasy. The potato salad was made with mustard and very cold. Just the way I like it. The Belgian waffle was big, probably 12 inches in diameter, and came in it's own bag, I could only eat half. I bit it before adding any syrup and it was sweet, soft and warm. There was a sign pointing outside for customers that stated "Starting 4-11-08 all orders paid in advance". Undoubtedly you could order today and pay on pay day. Payday chicken loans. The building was shrouded in security bars welded to the structure. I'm coming to the conclusion that good chicken is made in places where rusty security bars are necessary. P.S. This is a cash only establishment. read more
