My wife and I visited a barbecue restaurant we hadn't tried yet, "Rosako's Soulfood and BBQ." (2816 Brown Trail, Bedford, TX 76021) As soon as I got out of my car, I knew I'd found something interesting. The restaurant had a sign stating, "Electric vehicle charging available here." Just to the right of the sign were two Level 2 chargers. We each ordered two 2 meat plates, which included two sides. When we got home and opened the to-go boxes, we realized we had WAY over-ordered. We had enough for two meals for each of us! We had chicken and pork ribs, mac & cheese and flat green beans. It was very tasty with a sweet and spicy barbecue sauce. I spoke with the owner and thanked him for supporting EVs, to which he replied, "How could I not? It's what's coming. How could I not get on board?" I've been coming to Rosako's on and off since around 2014, back when Rosako himself was there cooking and the food was really solid. I genuinely want this place to succeed, which is why I still give it chances every so often. Today (Feb 24, 2026) I stopped in with my daughter just to pick up sides. Many menu items were unavailable (we were told no greens), so we ordered cabbage, sweet potatoes, and cornbread. The total was about $15 and I paid $20 and told him to keep the change as a tip. Unfortunately, the food quality was disappointing. The cabbage was essentially plain steamed cabbage -- very underseasoned and more like cafeteria vegetables than braised southern cabbage. I actually had to go home and re-season and cook it further just to make it edible. The sweet potatoes tasted good, but they had a noticeable smoky/BBQ odor, like they had absorbed grease or smoke from the kitchen environment. The cornbread itself was very good, but the portion was extremely small -- basically a sample-sized piece. Considering I tipped $5 on a small order, it would have been nice to include an additional piece or two. The biggest ongoing issue, though, is consistency. Over the years the restaurant is frequently out of items and the quality varies visit to visit. The dining/kitchen area is also visibly worn and could really benefit from a deep clean and upkeep. When I arrived, I only saw one person at the counter, who I believe was the owner. As I walked in, two customers were leaving with their takeout orders. There were several customers ahead of me, and the owner appeared to be both taking orders and making small talk. After waiting a few minutes, it seemed like it might take at least an hour to place my order and receive my food. I got too much food for 2 people. This review is moreso for the food, since i ordered to go. I paid about 45 bucks, and we had left overs for another meal. We ended up getting a 3 meat platter and another 2 meat platter. Each platter comes with your choice of two sides. after trying four different sides, i would highly recommend getting the collard greens & sweet yams. Don't get the mac and cheese as it was lacking in flavor. For the meats, they were smoked well and were bursting with flavor. we also got corn bread, and that was amazing. I wanted the jalapeno cornbread, but they told me they didn't have any at the time. Out of all the meats, the sausage was the best. The interior is fairly run down and there were not a lot of seats inside. it also felt grimy inside, and the food was kinda sticky/definitely greasy. Found this place on the "Too good to go" app, if you are not familiar please look it up. Definitely a great way to try new places! But the customer service was great, the staff was very friendly. We got 2 of the same surprise bags which consisted of the cabbage, spaghetti and macaroni. Most of the stuff we received I didn't see on the menu. The rib tip and hot link plate was $30 by itself and it wasn't much. The food was bland. The cabbage was sweet. The meat didn't have any seasonings but the hot links were good and spicy. It wasn't my favorite I personally wouldn't return for the food itself. This place is a literal hole in the wall. A great local, family-owned soul food and bbq! Love their bbq, but I dream about the corn bread and fried okra. I recently picked up an order - part of the No Food Waste program from Granny's Soul Food (#TooGoodToGo). For about $6, I received a slice of meatloaf, some smoked sausage, a fried drumstick, corn and mashed potatoes. Everything tasted SO delicious! Perfectly seasoned without being over salted, the meats were all juicy (OMG, the meatloaf!!! YUM!!!). 1. I love that Rosako's is part of the No Food Waste initiative. Instead of throwing out perfectly good food, this gives people a chance to try something, or pick up items at a discount. 2. The food I ordered today is a bit different from what I've ordered from Rosako's - this was a fun introduction to another very good soul food point of view. 3. I LOVE that Rosako's has a program where you can buy a meal for a veteran (there are so many who can't afford a meal...everyone deserves a hot meal and a place to feel embraced and appreciated). I ordered the jerky wings with a side of greens and okra. my order was delivered on time as promised. the sauce was really good and had a heck of a kick. the wings were really overcooked, very dry, and some of them were not edible at all. the okra I ordered was non-existent because they sent mac&cheese. the mac&Cheese was just ok, but not what I paid for. the greens were very good and really spicy as well. my wife ordered the turkey tips, and half of them were really under cooked, and not tips but cut up turkey parts. don't think we will be ordering from here again. read more

Every single time I have tried to order delivery from this establishment, my order has been cancelled. I would say at least 5 times in the last year. If you can't cook enough food to be able to offer delivery, don't offer delivery. I've wanted to try it because so many people have said how great it is. Guess I'll never know. Hi Folks. As usual, please, as you read, I accept that I am a privileged first worlder and none of this is truly an issue. My "worst" experiences are infinitely better than someone elses unimaginably awesome experiences. Homelessness is real. Food insecurity was the story of my childhood. I am vastly better off than my childhood self could have imagined, so this review, as with all my review, are to be seen through a lens that non of this is to be seen as all that serious. Just one persons subjective assessment of a moment, a place, a meal. That said, hope you are not in anyway, shape, or form moved away from checking out any spot I review less than or more than usual. Rosako's. As businesses go, still a fledgling BBQ joint. One man's dream. My opinion? My own, and not an indictment of his effort or business model. It's ribs. Thing is, I am serious about smoke. He was serious enough to open a business based upon it. I am your typical BBQ snob because I own a couple of offset smokers, various types of hardwoods, and fruitwoods, but I would never do it as a business, because I wouldn't want to consistently show up, and make that great effort, often enough to sustain a business. Well when Rosako's opened, he did so with such a high level of quality, it was either grow more intense, or some of us would remember when it was stellar, versus it being off. It got to the point I could drive up, and not know whether or not the doors would be locked, on a weekday. And I get not wasting food, but it could be 2 pm, and menu items would be out. Gas is too high to waste driving to a business and never know one day to the next what's up. I gave up. Time. There is no more important factor in making good smoked meats. That fat, and cartilage has to have time, to render. No amount of sweet sauces can replace time. Ribs need low heat, and long cook times. These were rushed. Tough, fatty, just nowhere near ready. I am having to use my own oven to get them finished, but that adds cost. Electricity is high as a giraffes ears. And it isn't as if his prices aren't in line with other joints, that are truly taking their time, consistently, patiently, and maybe the last one I reviewed, priced a few dollars lower. My want to support family businesses has to be met with that businesses understanding I too support a family of my own. I still need value. Not cheap, but not expensive riding on past rep, or my loyalty. Yelpette Tanisha P. wrote a pretty succinct, candid, but spot on review that was a little less delicate than I am trying to be. Find it, read it. I have a feeling she wants to be a repeat customer, but like me, knows what soul food is, grew up on it, can prepare it, and for our money, expects it. The sweet potatoes are not evolving past when the spot opened. By now, these should reflect a business that is growing. These "seemed" as if they came from a can, got doctored up a bit, put in an oven. For the money asked, these should have been cut from peeled fresh sweet potatoes, have thinly sliced lemon, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, maybe some allspice, butter so at the end of the cook, they add flavor and get all candied. Then torch some mini marshmellows on top? I want to pay top dollar, and did as compared to others in his market. *Revised. The greens were beyond fresh. Super flavorful greens. Wowed me. Not my restaurant. Just one customers opinion. But it's the collective of "ones" that either show up and a business makes it, or whose opinion is translated as future dollars to a business that sees opinions as a valuable tool to help the business evolve, or die. Not just the 5 star reviews, but more important, every review less than 5. Everyone in business sees our opinions as worth a hill of beans, until they are out of business. As a customer, I will always survive every business that goes under, and move forward to the new one opening. The ones that hear us, tend to grow, and expand. Look forward to my next trip to see if it would pass the "Tanisha P." test wherein she asks them to.."do better". Or if I just have to wish them well, but just move along. The prices are still reasonable. But my expectations, knowing how great they started out, have grown to expect better. If you read this far, I appreciate your patience, and stamina. It isn't Moby Dick, but in todays Tweet length attention span, you are a dying breed. A person that can make it past two paragraphs is truly rare. I lost 85% after the first paragraph. I went here for a late lunch , I love soul food ... I got the cat fish and they were very large pieces . That was good . The greens had no taste what's so ever and the okra was pretty good . They only had cokes and cool aid to drink . Where's the sweet tea ??? The biggest complaint I have is " The place is FILTHY ! I couldn't wait to get out of there . I went here on a whim. It opened at 12p. I arrived around 12:15p. I wanted to do delivery but the sweet potato cake was not listed as an option on Grubhub. Being I've never had that, it wanted to try it. No one entered the entire time I was there which was surprising for noon on a Sunday. I order the rib tips with greens and mac & cheese. I asked if I could have the bbq sauce placed on the side and was told I could but I guess he forgot. I did not care for the sides at all. I must say that was an unusual take on how he seasoned his greens but I realize everyone does them differently. Please note that the stems were included. There was no sweet potato cake but he did have s.p. muffins. He gave me 2 instead of one which was greatly appreciated. I'm still undecided about those. It's worth giving it a try. read more

Delicious! Fish cooked to order and to perfection. Seasoned to a "T"! Mac N Cheese was yummy and the potato salad was cool. Their yams are like sweet potato pie in a bowl. Greens are flavorful. I am a Rib Tip LOVER!!! They have them all day everyday as they should because they are exquisite! Juicy and tender the sauce is a bonus and not required! Yumty!! Customer service is great. They are very kind and gracious with last minute changes. Prices are very reasonable. I probably will never dine - in because of the smoke smell but I'm very sensitive with smells. But it's to be expected since they are cooking in there for real!! This is not a negative just not for me. I went here a few weeks ago and walking in the place was empty and definitely needs an updated appearance on the inside. I went to order my food and I noticed the price that I was charged wasn't the price that was on the menu and I was told that the menu prices had went up. I ordered Hot links with greens and yams and I asked for the bbq to be on the side, the price was $17. The hot links and yams was good but the greens had a weird taste to them. The hot links definitely were boiled not smoked. I am not sure I would return because just for that price I didn't really think the food was worth it. The owner was very nice and helpful. The place is small but.clean just off harwood. I found the brisket to be chewy and hard to eat. They put their bbq sauce on it so it was hard to get the taste. The sauce was very thick and sweet. The sausage was plump and tender but lacked that special sausage taste. It's not one I would recommend. Now it could have been a leftover brisket as I was the first customer but then it should not have been served. Especially since I told him I had never been the before.
