Ordered the 8pcs Honey Garlic Wings, Oxtail Soul Bowl w/ a side of Chicken Tetrazzini, Collard Greens, and Pork Cabbage, a mini Brisket Mac-n-Cheese Bowl, and Loaded Brisket Fries. We also ordered a slice of Red Velvet Pound Cake. Every dish we ordered was delicious and flavorful. The wings were crispy and very flavorful. The Oxtail Soul Bowl was packed and loaded on top of a bed of corn bread and it came with a huge piece of corn bread on the side. The red velvet pound cake was something different, but good too. Just very sweet especially drinking their half gallon "Mystery" juice which was good, but also pretty diabetes sweet. I tried my best to get the mystery ingredients from one of the cashiers, but she held strong lol. Overall, it is a pretty expensive type of food, but the portions is pretty huge and fulfilling as well so it balances out. The staff were super friendly and the food didn't take too long to come out. I went to Soulful Street Bites for the first time and was one happy customer! My husband and I enjoyed our entire order. I will certainly be back to try the rest of the menu. Hubs had the catfish bites and Mac and cheese. Both were seasoned well and delicious. I had the fried ribs with baked beans and potato salad. The ribs were fried in a batter seasoned to perfection, and I really enjoyed those. I loved the potato salad and the baked beans were ok. My husband liked them but I thought they tasted heavily of bbq sauce. We all tried a side of spaghetti and it was good as well. Tasted like the spaghetti we used to make in college lol We got the Mystery Koolaid and Mango Peach Lemonade. Both excellent and surprisingly not too sweet. The service was 10/10. Ordered the whole wings, cornbread, cabbage, mac and cheese with brisket, a slice of lemon cake, and that mystery-flavored Kool-Aid (because sometimes you just gotta live on the edge). The food? Solid. The wings were fried just right -- crispy outside, juicy inside. Not greasy. Not sad. Just doing what wings are supposed to do. The cabbage was good too. I always appreciate when somebody's cabbage tastes different than mine but still hits. That tells me you put your foot in it, respectfully. Now that mac and cheese with brisket? Listen. The brisket was cooked well -- tender, flavorful, not playing games. And the cornbread held its own. No complaints there. But let's address the elephant in the room. That lemon cake. It looked amazing in the display. Moist. Bright. Promising. I was already planning my little after-dinner moment with it. Guess what? It never made it into the bag. And baby... that hurt. Now, I'm traveling. It was pickup only (I initially thought I'd be able to sit down and vibe, but that's on me). Turning around wasn't an option. So I had to accept my fate -- cakeless. I'm trying real hard not to be salty about it. I love lemon cake, and I was already mentally tasting it. But I refuse to let one missing slice cancel out good cooking. The food was good. Period. So here's my advice: Try them. The food is worth it. Double-check your bag before you pull off. I have been waiting to try this place and I was smacked dab between both of their locations. We went with this location because they had a few less rules for purchasing the food from them. Also, you cannot place an order until 12:30 PM so plan ahead for that. The only downside about the Addison location was they had less selection than the Irving location, but all the things we got were amazing. I felt like my mother was in the room when I ate the food. She always cooked like this and in big portions and was from Mississippi. The food is pricey, but the portions are massive, and the smothered pork chop soul bowl could've easily been shared with 2-3 people. Their catfish is the best I've had in a long time. **This review is for the Frisco, TX location which was not listed on Yelp as of yet. ** Taste-wise, this place did not disappoint! The food was absolutely delicious, especially the oxtails and yams -- so flavorful and worth the hype. But the service experience was rough. I placed a to-go order at 4:30 PM and didn't leave until 5:45 PM. After getting a text that my food was ready, I found out it had been given to someone else by mistake. A kind young man from the kitchen remade my $145 order, but it added another 30-45 minutes to my wait. The owner acknowledged the issue and offered a $76 refund, which I appreciated, but honestly, the whole order should've been comped due to the over an hour wait for take out. On the bright side, the atmosphere is a chill vibe -- blues music, beautiful murals, a nice bar, and friendly staff. Huge shoutout to Zyh'aire, who was patient, professional, and smiling through it all. She and the staff member in the kitchen would be the reason I'd consider giving this place another shot---and of course the food!. Bottom line: amazing food and great atmosphere. A more organized to-go system -- one that verifies names and receipts before handing out orders -- would go a long way in improving the customer experience. Went on a Sunday when they first opened. To avoid the long wait, I would not come on a Sunday. I was told when I got to the register that it's the worst but best day to come. You will have to wait in the same line for carry out and done in FYI. They are nice enough to put out water for guests to drink while they wait to come inside. Ordered catfish nuggets, mac and cheese, greens, beans and crawfish eggrolls. Catfish was hot fresh seasoned and crispy. This is was my first time at the new location and they have definitely outdone themselves. It's great to see a black owned company grow and do it the right way. They didn't lose of their southern hospitality and the staff is great. The food came out within 5 minutes of ordering and it was hot and seasoned to perfection. We went to the location in Frisco. The banana pudding we ordered just 1 and it is very dark in color. I've never seen banana pudding a light brown. Too much vanilla I guess. The food was disgusting , flavorless, and clearly thrown together with zero care. It honestly very overpriced for two chicken wings three catfish nuggets with two sides and a unfillable Kool aid for 28.00 dollars . The drinks will cost 2.00 for a refill, which is unheard of. The service was even worse. It's nonexistent, they expect a tip for allowing you to stand in line to order your food. Management clearly has no control over what's going on here. The place tries to look nice, but don't let that fool you -- it's all downhill once you walk in. No friendly greeting or even a thank you for spending your money. Dont expect that they will have plates you see on IG because some plates are for limited days. Ordered 2 soulful bowls and the totally was $69.78! A hefty price for 2 bowls but it was gigantic! One bowl was wings and the other was catfish. The bottom of the bowl are cornbread and they gave me a cornbread for each bowls so it was toooo much cornbread. Flavor was good but not smack your mama lol type of flavor - as they advertised on IG! Once your food is ready, the staff will bring it to your table. The catfish, wings, brisket mac and cheese bowl, neck bones, baked beans, yams, and greens are all excellent choices. One of my friends who is from Mississippi told me to try this place. I wanted it to be great but it was just okay to me. What I liked: Even though the line was long it moved quicker than most similar style restaurants and the bar did backup help by taking additional orders to help the to-go line. I enjoyed the smothered pork chop. For that alone I give 3 stars. Also the banana pudding was delicious but was like the new version of banana pudding with wafers and the chessman cookies. And you can request no bananas too. So it's not like old school grandma's pudding that tends to be smiley. Also very good Koolaid though overpriced at $6, but this is what is charged at posh soul food restaurants but I'm just saying. I didn't care for the greens. They were a mix of mustard and collards but the mustards were very tart and overpowering. Also, I had serious juice in my container. The Mac and cheese was mediocre. A strong and overpowering taste of sour cream. Just not pleasing to MY palette. But the people I know who've had it love it. Also the catfish bites were not fresh. Today I visit this black owned business and first off let me say the customer service was good ' young lady at the front register was friendly and patience. The food was good the greens was my least favorite due to they taste like they were out the can. We ordered the chicken wings they were good fresh and hot seasoned really well when they came out. I passed Soulful Street bites every Sunday after service and couldn't figure out why people would line up down a sidewalk and wait in all kinds of weather. I satisfied my curiosity by stopping in one weekday afternoon with a friend. I was hesitant but the hesitation lasted only until I got into my meal. First time here and won't be our last. The food is delicious. Catfish was full of flavor, I didn't even need lemon juice or salt. Fries on point. Yams were so yummy. My husband had the same plus shrimp which was just as good. And he had the broccoli casserole which was divine! We also had drinks , he had a strawberry margarita and I had the Pineapple Smash - both tasty. Service was excellent, entire staff was welcoming. They were jamming, playing R&B and old school playing on the TV. Only downside is it gets packed (which is just proof this place is amazing) but it also gets hot in there. I wanted to try several things but I went with the mini brisket Mac & cheese along with the smothered pork chop and rice with a side of yams. The brisket Mac & cheese was so good, very cheesy. Next time I'll leave off the cornbread crumbs, though. The yams were tasty but firmer than I'd prefer. I'm so full, the pork chop will have to wait until tomorrow.
