Disgusting. Ordered a big and small chop beef and a rib sandwich. Beef was slimy and mushy. The bun was just soggy... not toasted to hold the nasty sauce and meat. Yes, I now understand why the score is 2.6. I just gave them one star. The ribs have changed drastically from what I had previously . They were tough so I decided to try them AGAIN; they were tougher. The lunch plate area looked delicious so I decided to order. The lady serving the plate lunch was outright rude. The cobbler was extremely sweet and again the server had the attitude of a raging bull. The food wasn't prepared right and to also receive a negative attitude for NO reason was enough for me to return to them folks downtown TERRY BLACK. They ask you if everything was ok and if you need anything else. If you are not happy with something they exchange it WITH a smile or ask if you would like a refund. I truly believe if you told them you were treated unfairly or rude they would want to know by WHO. That's the difference I have experienced with Terry Black and other restaurants versus ODOMS on Singleton. Maybe if I had used profanity each time I have brought something to their attention maybe the response would have been better. On both occasions staff agreed it wasn't right but offered no refund nor exchange of food. I didn't argue about the money because I really wanted better service and tender meat. The lady on the register is nice but when running a business you need a strong arm to get better worth ethics from your employees. Your customers satisfaction is what pays them. I do not think I will ever get bbq from any other bbq spot than Odoms! WOW is my summary for this place lol. I ordered a rib sandwich and a large chopped beef sandwich. When you go in there is no seating due to covid, but the line is distanced well in guidelines with covid. The lady who took my order was pretty cool. My food took like 10 minutes to finish. The price was decent for the size of the meal, but be ready to spend a decent penny on a good meal. The chopped beef sandwich was AMAZING!! Like it was packed with beef and sweet bbq, I am daydreaming about it right now! The rib sandwich was also delicious but I do prefer the chopped beef sandwich. I decided to try this place since it was just around the corner. I had the 2 meat plate with ribs and links. We also got the 1/2 chicken plate. First of all, I asked if I could substitute the potato salad and he said no that's the way it comes or I'll have to get double beans. Then he asked way? I do not like or eat potato salad. It would have been nice to have another option or at least some chips instead. He later tried to explain after the order was ready that other options would have been available but not on Saturday. We did not enjoy our meal. The meat was swimming in thin watery bbq sauce. It wasn't even tasty. The links were okay and so were the beans, but how can you mess up a can of ranch style beans. This good is so good it changed my life. Now your girl knows soul food and what they got going over here is the truth. From the meat to the sides everything was seasoned perfectly. I can definitely feel the love in every dish! Great big portions sides and worth the price . I also tried a side of the peach cobbler and personally I'm not a fan of cobbler but there's was a 10/10 . This place is a nice hole in the wall. It's a very old school and grunge vibe. The workers are also old school and friendly in their own way. The BBQ and stuffed potato are amazing. The ribs fall off the bone easily and the BBQ itself has a perfect savory and sweet taste. The meal comes with 2 slices of white bread. Everyday they have different sides and I wasn't able to get the Macoroni and cheese today. The neighborhood is very rough and there are a lot of people around asking for money. They have homemade Kool Aid and old school bottled sodas. They have comfortable seats indoors and it's pretty spacious. In order to pay with card you must present ID. Pulled up to this place after hearing how good they are. My first impression was "it's a hole-in-wall type of place". The inside looks as if someone's grandmother decorated in the 70s. This place needs a major renovation! Random home furniture and extremely old booths. Just looks ran down and uncared for. The food wasn't good. Hot link literally was so fatty that when I bit one I was able to pour about a quarter or an ounce of grease. We asked for 3/4 lb of brisket and requested it be chopped up. They chopped it and tossed it in sauce. Um NO THANKS! Not to mention it was very fatty as well. I can totally live without eating here again.
