When my wife smelled gas, I called SoCalGas and they came out and confirmed we had a leak. They shut us down and we didn't have heat or hot water for days. Well fast forward 9 years later, Hiring Big Mike's, was a BIG MISTAKE. My Tennants were complaining about a musty smell in the bathroom and a stain appearing around the toilet. So their jack off guys they call "plumbers" needed a baby sitter to make sure they do the job correctly, the toilet wax ring fell sideways and at a 45 degree angle because they probably were in a hurry. But hay no problem, we'll just put plenty of silicon chailking around the toilet that'll keep the sewage up under the toilet , Right, so now the liquids and excrements are making g their way under the vinyl flooring over to the wall, and the wall has been absorbing the water for 9 years plus. Thanks Big Mike's. The second area their knuckle heads showed their skills was the tub drain, they over tightened the drain flange and cracked the ABS Elbow. So thats been leaking for the past 9 years non stop. Thanks Big Mikes for now costing me over $18 Thousand to pull the whole bathroom apart and start over. Yes I know a licensed Contractor in Ca. On Thanksgiving Eve evening, we received a call that our tenants were without water and that the repair would be expensive. The main water line from the street to the house had literally blown up. Yes, it was expensive, but ultimately very fair. Rich and his partner worked until just after midnight to get it repaired. I don't know of any other local plumber that would have answered the phone, much less taken this on. My 80 yo parents have a supply line leak that they noticed on the Saturday of NYE weekend. My dad and I did some digging and shrub removal but finally realized we needed a plumber. Big Mike's plumber came out on Sunday and gave us an assessment of what needed to be done and a rough timeline. Very nice. Very professional even though dealing with 3 upset old people. There was an issue with the city meter shutoff too and the water dept was not helpful. I raised my voice and I don't ever do that. Thankfully, the Big Mike's plumber was back today and said he could work around the meter problem. He accomplished a lot of work and kept my dad updated. The rest of the work will be done tomorrow. I'm glad my parents have a reliable company to call because I'm not always here and am getting too old to be handy anyways. Try getting up from the floor after being crammed inside a cabinet to install a faucet when you're an old person! We are grateful for Rich and Mike's Plumbing. I had to have my toilet change, and I didn't know who to go to. I looked up some companies on Yelp and called up a few and a couple didn't pick up. But Big Mike, they answered right away. Gave me a quote that was half the price of the other company. I was sold. I made arrangements for them to come by. Of course, it was difficult to have them come after 430pm. They are a great group of people to have your house worked on. They were efficient and reliable. The only problem I had was they don't work after 5pm. So for me it was difficult to get an appt that late. They clean the area after they were done with the room. They even took the old toilet out of your hands. This drain had been cleaned by another plumber two months ago who had to bring a big machine through our apartment and take out the toilet to snake the line. Christmas Eve.... Big Mikes sends out plumber "Scott" to fix a water heater that wasn't working. Spends a fair amount of time trying to diagnose the problem. Takes apart the heating element and some other electrical parts leaving wires exposed and hanging. Scott, says he needs a part from Home Depot and will be right back. Turns out he packed his tools and bailed on us Xmas eve. Turned off his phone and won't answer us or the answering device. Leaves our heater in ruins with exposed wiring. I tried to cap off the wires since our stove is on the same circuit and we at least needed to cook dinner. Flipped the breaker back on and sparks stared flying from the water heater. This POS Scott just effing bailed without having to balls to say he didn't know what he was doing and left us unable to cook or have hot water. Phone call and email out to Big Mike... I'll update when I find out what they are going to do to fix this. For now, STAY FAR AWAY FROM THEM!!!! UPDATE: I have left 3 messages with answering service and sent an email with my contact number. It's 8:13 pm. So far no response despite the comment to my original post from Mike. Mike, please call me... your answering service has the number and so does your email. Update 12/25 Still no return call. Update 12/26 Still no call back. Here's what I would say.... he posted to contact him because it's under "investigation". That's all BS! All he's doing is making it appear to readers that this was an aberration and he's working on it, he's not. We used these guys for years with few complaints. But in the last few years they stopped their pumping service which was the main reason we used them. We also had them come out to diagnose a septic line problem. They provided a quote for 3 thousand dollars to replace 15 feet of clay line that was leaking. We dug up the line recently due to another blockage to find out that they left several feet of the old clay that clearly had holes and roots all over. We had them come out to check out their in-sufficient work and they said that a year ago their camera only inspected one direction and that the 15 feet was provided (which it was not). This area was dug up and it appears they chose to just do part of the job. They said they would fix this issue the next day and they never showed up. I would not recommend them as it is clear we were taken advantage of. read more

Two men showed up to my house today to check out issues we have been having with a really bad sewage smell. no masks were worn in the house or around me...in the middle of a global pandemic. Is this your company policy?!?! nothing was resolved, on e was very rude to me, they did not even have their own step ladder, implied to my landlord it was because I had not taken out my trash yet. They also took off an access cover on my wall and did not even put it back. If I could leave a half star I would Scott came out to look into the water leaking behind the walled my house.Scott said the issue was bad.He crawled underneath the house told me I had a mini pool down there said he I would have to do a re-pipe of the hot water side. cost would be from 5000 to 5200 dollars. I called out a different company to come out for a second opinion.The new plumbers stated that they could have it fixed in 10 mins and they did it was a matter of tightening a coupling.They also stated there was not a massive amount of water under the house. BEWARE!! Massive rip off artists! We had used them many times in the past for a 4 unit rental property we own. But they have a new owner Chris who fraudulently charged us $2800 for work that was not done. I am female and and out of town owner so they told me they had to dig up pipes and replace a whole section and do some other things. I knew the quote was exorbitant but I needed it done that day. However in a couple of hours they called and told me it would now be $4500!! I guess he figured he could steal even more from me. I called BS on Chris the owner and told him that we would file a complaint with the construction licensing board and he quickly said he'd stick to $2800. I got the bill but waited a few days to see if there were problems because he told me there was a warranty. Last night everything backed up again and I called them at 6:30am this morning and they were to send someone out at once. But they didn't so my husband drove out from San Diego and had the area dug up and found out they hadn't done any of the work except replacing the clean out. The maintenance guy told us that Chris packed everything up that day and left and never used the materials!!! Today we called for Chris and the worker to come to the dug up site to explain what they did but nobody from the company ever showed up and the owner only yelled at my husband on the phone. I can only imagine how many people they are ripping off if they so brazenly could have done this. What if I had paid them???? I will be filing a CSLB complaint so as many people as possible will stay away. My husband works in the construction industry and this shady and dishonest behavior is unacceptable. THEY SCAMED IS OUT OF $250.00 My wife called them to get a quote on our leaking toilet, the plumber flushed it and looked inside the toilet and told her that it's not the toilet, it's the pipes, and then charged us 250 to send a camara down the next day. Only to tell us that we need to spend 2500 + and have pipes redone.. So so we called our friend who is a los Angeles contactor / inspector to verify the video they sent us. And he said everything is fine and they are trying to scam us and our insurance company. And then he fixed the toilet by replacing the wax ring.. I cant say enough good things about Big Mikes! I've had to call them out twice this year for fairly large jobs and both times they provided exemplary service. After speaking with a receptionist, the plumber contacted me in less than 15 mins to advise when they would be able to arrive. They assess the situation and thoroughly explain the problem, how they intend to fix it, and how much it will cost. Joe, the plumber who helped me this week gave me best case/ worst case scenario and the price difference between the two jobs. He was able to make the best case repair but knowing both situations put my mind at ease. Joe was very polite, worked quickly and even swept the mess that was made by doing the repairs when he was done. This summer, my first repair with Mike's was completed by Oscar, who was equally professional and polite. He repaired a main in my front yard in 110 degree plus heat and remained composed the entire time. As a woman making these decisions, its the highest compliment when a man can explain the situation without being patronizing. Neither Joe or Oscar spoke down to me, instead they took the time to explain what needed to be done and answered my questions. They put in a camera and saw roots growing into my main line and had to fix it by getting a new clean out. That was big bucks and I didn't have the cash, so unfortunately that's why I've had to use them 3 times over the last couple of years. Today I'm finally able to get the big fix. Their employee Scott went above and beyond to help our family on numerous different occasions even once in a Saturday night. Moved into our "new" 1952 house and within 24 hours knew we had plumbing issues. Third day in the house, Christmas Eve we called Big Mikes. Within an hour Albert and Vincent were at my home. Snaked out the main line, ran the camera and discovered we had major tree root intrusion. They were back within a couple of days, replaced 19' of the main line, cleaned up there mess and they were gone. It wasn't cheep but it was a lot of work. So far, so good.
